How to make a sick FOGHORN Bass in Vital
Переглядів 172 години тому
This video shows how to create a Foghorn from scratch in the fantastic free soft synth, VITAL. The Foghorn bass always sound so good. That deep, resonant bass that can be used so effectively in Drum and Bass and other bass hungry genres to create tension or an ominous atmosphere. Its harsh, rumbling tone adds intensity and drama to a track, enhancing drops, breakdowns, or atmospheric build-ups....
Why this is actually a seriously good distortion plugin

Prisma is a multiband distortion plugin for advanced tone shaping. In the right hands the plugin can produce highly complex and intricate tones. It offer 21 effects and four frequency bands and a unique semi-modular interface to make effect-chaining really simple. Common use cases include very harsh distortions being applied on a narrow band to create more subtle effects, and bass recordings be...

I use this plug in - every day
Definitely not a toy, right?
@@X3Naudio I like this Toy!
+1 on this! Serious sound design tool. Use it all the time for mangling and creating new sounds!
Fantastic little plugin. I've asked the dev whether modulation / LFOs can be integrated too. That would really push it to the next level!
Its free because it functions as an advertisement for the full version
It sure does and what a great advert for the full version, which already has a fully featured 30 day demo, so the dev didn't really need to offer something as significant as this to entice potential buyers. Very glad he did, though :)
dogshit
Tried it a while back but it sounds wiered and cheap, am I missing something?
Depends what you were looking to get from it I guess...🙂
There is a threshold where using plugins is not longer music. They do their stuff but is not longer you. That is why music today is so meaningless, it lacks identity. It is not as bad as before but never as good either.
Good comment. By way of response, I would say that I use this as an inspiration tool - create a good polyrhythm and then take if from there with "my" music. It's a starting point and facilitator for ideas that I wouldn't have otherwise come up with.
It’s an 8 track Euclidean sequencer with some bells and whistles. Can’t really complain about that. saying the beats don’t sound “original” and like afrobeats is sad but hilarious. You want to rotate where the rhythm begins and to be able to drag the midi to your daw. I didn’t see that. But I like the pitch sequencing per rhythm. There are a lot of ways to do this sequencing already. I’d rather use it to send midi to other instruments than to internal one shots.
Some good bells and whistles, though :)
Yeah, a few of the comments are stupid. He is using this in Maschine and tbh that is more powerfull already. If you use Maschine in a daw you can already do that with any sequencer with randomizer. You have to setup Maschine to let it trigger each channel and accept MIDI though. I also use a free sampler for this and trigger that with an equally free sequencer with randomizer 🙂 Edit. The way i do it will only trigger one sound at a time so it's still different but i prefer my kick drum seperately. It's a nice in the box tool for sure but ^
Thanks for the comment. Yes, you can use Maschine like that, but the advantage of the software here is the ease of use, I think. Load into your DAW and randomise until something cool comes up.
Checkout Sonic Charges microTonic and the Patternarium
Thanks for the recommendations. Gonna check out Triaz first, as that does look good.
@ thats cool too! Microtonic with the patternarium can give you some good results if you like randomization stuff. It can export the midi pattern also.
Tried it, it's an F tier Plugin.
I get good use out of it, so each to their own, I guess 🙂
Definitely “grooves” from Afro beats , not original just being honest. And it sounds similar to a producer’s production I’m familiar with (without the effects)
Appreciate the feedback. I think that the gig with this plugin is the randomisation. You can just keep creating new rhythms on the fly. Not everything is gonna sound good, but you'll get a gem in the end.
Triqz or XO sound way better. The UI also looks more user friendly
Not heard of those. Will check them out and see how they compare!
Do you mean Triaz?
@@mattsmith1440 Yeah, it's Triaz. Going to grab it and see how it compares to Perx
@@mattsmith1440 yes
Can you drag the random rhythms it makes as MIDI into your daw?
Not at this stage, but I would think that's on the dev's list of inclusions for 2.0, as it would b a great addition.
Forgot to mention in the video, that you should use D3 to trigger the grooves you generate when working in your DAW 🙂
wdym should not be free wtf
As in, it's so good the dev could justifiably charge for it.
Just bought Reaktor for the first time due to Scapeshift.
Welcome to the club! I have not checked out Scapeshift yet, but it looks absolutely fantastic. A true showcase of what Reaktor can do.
Thank you. Appreciate your playing to showcase. Adding a keyboard widget underneath to show the key(s) played might be cool for the future. Thanks for putting reaktor on my radar!
I would definitely recommend getting it (preferably during a sale). Even if you don't want to dig deep and create mind blowing stuff from scratch, you have access to 6400+ synths, samplers, effects, drum machines. The value is insane!
Excellent presentation! Subscribed.
Thanks and welcome!
Sounds like fun create new sounds 🙂 I'll try it within my next songs!
@BernardFate It is fun and, as you can see, quite simple to create new sounds. Download and give it a try - you've nothing to loose!
This is a huge playground for unusual sounddesign ... as I already have Kult (gorgious for Dark Ambient ..) I got Peter's invitation and downloaded Zyklop on the first day. I'm just experimenting with rythmic and voice samples ... 😜
If Zyklop is this good, it makes me think how good Myth must be. Zyklop is definitely a fun and effective way to generate something new!
Sounds like a fart in a barrel.
Which is exactly what I was going for.
@@X3Naudio I'm glad you found the right tool for the job. BTW I did not mean to say it is a bad thing, it was just an objective observation on my part 😂
@@tiborvegh700 As long as it's a good sounding fart...
Tried this beauty last night, amazing synth 🚥
It really is!
You should also take a look at Pendulate from Newfangled Audio. Like Zyklop, which is a free and cut-down version of another synth (Myth), Pendulate is a free and cut-down version of their Generate synth. It's a strange synth based on chaos theory, and can create some really interesting sounds that can be similar to what Zyklop can do. I have the full Generate synth, and it has quickly become a favorite of mine.
I remember that coming out and being interested, but got side tracked in the interim. Thanks for the reminder - going to check it out real soon - anything that can bring usable new sounds to the table is on my shopping list!
Pendulate compared to Zyklop is worthless trash!
@@JH-bf6qy How so?
@@JH-bf6qy That's a bit dramatic. I love both.
Isn't it actually a Myth light?
Could be called that. Myth has two Irises and a tonne more presets. I think Zyklop is a very clever (and generous) marketing plan to get people on the fence to download and find out how cool Dawesome synths are, so it's a win win for the user and Peter (the developer).
Cool clear overview, this synth is yet another gem from Dawsome. Cheers
Thanks. Do you have other Dawesome synths? Novum is next level granular goodness
Thanks for the video! Very cool synth!! 😎
It really is. Can you believe that it's free?
You should get one of the free keyboard display utilities to display on screen what you're playing.
That's a pretty good idea. Do you have any recommendations?
@@X3Naudio you can google up a few alternatives and see which you like.
Do these work on Reaktor Player or only the full retail version please? 🧡
Not sure - I have only ever worked with the full version. I can't see why they wouldn't, but the best way would be to D/L Reaktor Player and have a play
@@X3Naudio Thanks. I'll try now.
@@X3Naudio Yep, they work in Reaktor Player. Thank you 🧡
@@-Deena. That's great news. Thanks for checking and sharing 😎
niji tracks has a tasteful kick, i sampled it, i will put it in my dance music
You're right. I sounds great and the randomisation function rocks!
Reactor is ok for Razor… but at least the best Sounddesign Tool is still Absynth so at least forget just Reaktor. I use now at least 3 Plugins. Absynth, Plasmonic is the Follow up. And the Effect Giant Synestia FX.
Razor really is awesome - the sounds you can get out of that thing are amazing. I could never get into Absynth. Plasmonic is on my list to check out, as it's by the same guy that initially created Absynth before selling it to NI.
Much thanks for the recommendations , reaktor is the good friend i see once or twice a year….as i have been in an iPad AUM rabbit hole. Cheers
No problem! Get outta that hole and revisit your good friend a bit more often 😛
@ definitely, was literally just on the super 8 😜
Reaktor has been a sonic staple in my work. It always sounds huge, and it really does make pretty much any other synth plugin obsolete, even the newest and most reputable offerings out there... great selection of ensembles in this vid!
Likewise - I think every track I ever made featured Reaktor in one way or another. The only limit to its capabilities is the mind of the creator.
I went back to Reaktor recently and forgot how good it sounds. I'm bored of harsh wavetable modern synths. Reaktor encapsulates a golden era.
It does sound excellent. Those ignoring it because it's old or not the latest shiny object are really missing out.
Nice selection. Almost forgot about the Reaktor Library. Thx!
It's always great to go back to the library after a while and see what the genius creators have uploaded.
I thought that Native Instruments stopped making Reaktor with the latest Komplete release??
I've not picked up on that. It's been such a long time since the last update, that their decision to not release further updates would not really affect me. The only feature I would want at this stage would be resizable GUI, but I can live without it.
Ckeck Bitwig and forget Reaktor
That’s the problem maybe bigwig is ok but their plugins and sounds are not available n my main daw Fairlight.
Reaktor works in all VST hosts, but Bitwig tools would only work in Bitwig, right? I do plan to upgrade to Bitwig in the near future, so that would offer the best of both worlds.
@ Bitwig is ok but I spend my Money just for projects that are able for collaboration. Same with Hallion… just do not use it… I am interested in Sounds and here is Bitwig mainly just to expensive. The DAW is Not as much important in my mind. I personal do not see advantages or Upgrade to use this or another DAW.
Super 8 is VERY underrated....and I hate saying the cliche "highly underrated" lol. The sh101 style multi oscillators X 2 is like having a two oscillator sh101 and the single page GUI (also underrated) makes modulation quick and a breeze. 😊
I do tend to go for the more experimental synths (Razor, Skanner XT, Form), so Super 8 would have fallen off my radar pretty quickly after release, as it's a bit more "traditional"
Lovly.. also video, did you make the pictures yourself ?
I wish that I was that talented. The images were generated by Mid Journey. Everything else done by (this) human!
Thanks for this very informative video. I downloaded Stella immediately because I've always wanted something with a Galaxy Selector. 😁
LOL.
I use it everyday. I have 100 tracks on my channel using reaktor 👍
Gotta link?

Some of the coolest reaktors
Thanks to the extraordinarily generous creators! Firstly to code the ensemble up, then to create a polished GUI and (best of all) sharing to the community!
🙏🏼 Thanks a lot, I almost forgot the "Reaktor Community". Great to share years of spitting in libraries ✌🏼
My pleasure!
Really cool ensembles here. Stella is really cool, I’ve used it forever! Nice one!
It really is! And you gotta love that GUI
cool to see Reaktor is still alive!
It’s really underrated and underappreciated
Yeah, it's because at the end of the day most electronic based musicians aren't that creative. They just want Serum and Vital. Nothin else (maybe Phase Plant too, but at least that has some sort of creative inventiveness to it). Also, As a Bitwig user, it's gotten me way more interested in making custom things in Reaktor. It's a lot more nuts and bolts. But totally worth it. @@bravooooooooooooooooooooo
Shame NI don't seem to think so
Yeah, it's still a fantastic tool. There's nothing it can't do and I continue to be astonished by the creations in the User Library, even after 20 years of owning Reaktor.
Quite possibly. But doesn't that give the artists that do want to explore further than the usual suspects an edge in making something that stands out?
This is really cool and the images are fantastic. Subbed. You definitely deserve more recognition, so just keep up the high quality work. Love this whole genre of dark dystopia and apocalyptica👌💯
Thanks for the sub! Really appreciate it.

The artwork here perfectly represents a reoccurring nightmare I had as I grew up ! I have always been capable of lucid dreaming, meaning I could manipulate and control aspects of my dreams, and see, smell, taste, hear, feel (including pain) and remember everything, after waking. For 15 years I had a reoccurring nightmare/dream about exploring an alien world that was a prison world for great old ones that were trying to break the ritual that was binding them. Every time I discovered one, I had to fight it. Some wanted my body so they could wake up in my body and leave me in the prison. Others just hated me because I could wake up and leave. They were all aware I was dreaming, and were trying to take my mind, or just trying to destroy me out of envy, which was absolutely terrifying. I truly miss having that dream, because even though I could see, smell, hear, taste, feel (even pain) and remember everything, every nightmare was a new epic adventure. My father was convinced a demon was trying to kill me, and coached me to overcome my fear of the mind stealers and stop trying to run away, and face them and destroy them. This video hit me with raw nostalgia. Thank you for a trip back to that strange world from my dreams😊
Sounds terrifying. I hope that the flashback was not too traumatic for you...
@@X3Naudio Not at all! As I said, it was very nostalgic! I remember everything lol. Every time I had the dream I was exploring an alien world, which was amazing! It was just the end that was bad, every time lol.
Impressive ambient music. Also, insane to think these images are so old that Bosch painted them somewhere around the time Columbus reached America.
So creepy world ! your ambiant music is so scary ! love it !
