Amateur drone videos based in Oregon's Willamette Valley.
The Gordon House: Frank Lloyd Wright's Oregon Usonian
A look at Frank Lloyd Wright's Gordon House from a new perspective. Filmed in June of 2019, this video captures the house with aerial footage; the first time that the Gordon House has been recorded via drone. The Gordon House is located at The Oregon Garden of Silverton, OR. It was originally constructed on the south bank of the Willamette River near Wilsonville, OR, but was relocated to its present location in 2001 under the threat of demolition. Tours are available through www.thegordonhouse.org

On August 28th, 2019, the SP 4449 made several runs between Portland's Oregon Rail Heritage Center and Oaks Park. This channel is the owner of this video footage. The footage was also used by the ORHF channel with permission. Music from Bensound.com
Wish we could have seen INSIDE the home, where the LIVING took place…
Frank Lloyd Wright was more than a great designer. He invented the world of the suburbs. The exit to nature that was stopped because of traffic jams, and came back to life thanks to the Internet and working from home. He is still influential.
We luckily stumbled upon this and showed up just as a small tour of 5 started. It was very interesting to learn about the owners and how they lived. It’s too bad the video didn’t showcase the inside. There are a lot of noteworthy details. The docent led tour was 👏🏻👏🏻
My favorite architect!!!
pwm.im-cdn.it/image/777185816/xxl.jpg
Wright used brick, wood and stone and 'warm' tones to create "organic" architecture that integrated with nature. The Bauhaus built with 'cool' concrete, glass and steel to separate architecture from nature.
I am glad they saved this masterpiece. What idiot would eve think about destroying a piece of art
Very similar to the Bachman-Wilson house.
Am " kind " of stunned by Frank Lloyd Wright's thoughts voiced over and how surreal is their absolute truth as one scans the house before one's eyes . Frank Lloyd Wright escaped a limited trance state . To see this house and hear his thoughts on " advanced " architecture for those ready for it is to be awakened from a deep trance . ❤
The greatest architect of all time, and I am sure - of all times to come!
I've gotten to tour this home, it's absolutely gorgeous!!
Thank you, whoever you are, for shutting up and letting Mr. Wright and his designs do the talking.
A great pity that Wrights sensitivity to place, form, and people hasn't been more influential in modern architecture. His best work had a human warmth and, dare I say, 'love' that is rare in modern buildings.
"The space within becomes the reality of the building"
Thank you for sharing this.
Frank Lloyd Wright wasn't only an architect he was a visionary, he stepped beyond the convention to bring a style that is years ahead of it's time 🙌
Excellent.
In 2001 the house was relocated? What lol
It had to be relocated because the owners only wanted the land. It was the only way to save the house.
Very nice drone work, but you may want to change your name as we've been in business since 2007 and have customers in your state. I couldn't find your contact information so am contacting you here.
Democrats were the ones wanting to destroy it.
Very Good.
Can we go inside?
Flat roofs are a bitch to maintain and leak. I like the look, but the maintenance probably not fun, especially if you live in a wet climate.
Thanks for adding Frankle and writes words. It captures his philosophy very concisely
Shabby, it deserves better.
What a piss-poor vid...
The new owners wanted to demolished this beauty! WTF is wrong with the people? I`m glad the house was saved!
Imagine what they built.
@@sharksport01 There are way too many examples of greats houses even historical houses being torn down only to be replaced with some ugly tasteless monstrosity.
They saved the house by moving it off the property, but Wright designed for the very specific location. Even moving the house as a solution is still a disappointing one. Sad that the Gordon descendants didn’t care enough to stipulate in the contract that it couldn’t be torn down. The buyer is not the only foolish one here.
It’s a gem why would you want to demolish it?
It’s great that this house was saved. But the video shows too much roof and not enough of the interior.
Exactly my thought. We visited there in 2017 and I was taken by the interior spaces. Very livable except for the lack of any windows in the kitchen. The skylight lets in a lot of light but no view. As an amateur chef I would find it claustrophobic.
Yeah this video doesn’t do it justice. I liked the aerial elevations which were like an abstract painting, but they dwell on it too frequently.
More than 9 minutes wasted, yes we know this house, we know ALL of Wright's work, inside out, upside down. But is the interior shown to allow examination of the quality of the reconstruction, the entire reason it was saved in the first place? FAIL.
Why did they not show the inside?
My thoughts exactly
This was a drone shot. They probably did not have access to the inside.
There is a neighborhood in Phoenix that has all FLW inspired homes that are nearly 50 years old. They are all very cool.
What neighborhood is this?
If you wanna sleep dream live have fun buy a Frank Lloyd Wright home Like I did the home was built in 1953 I have a very high stress job and I can't wait to come home to see the trees
Are you a millionaire?
The house is beautiful, like a functional abstract sculpture.
Speed 1.7 makes it interesting
Had a fabulous time looking over F L W homes on my travels Gordon
Me too, nothing better than exploring Chicago to come upon a FLW house.
If you do not show the inside then why bother at all.
Nice production all around. Hats off to the team who showcased this beautiful home.
Agreed, beautiful overlay of FLW voice, sharing frank knowledge from the master. The descending and floating camera angles again capturing the of the spirit of the greatest architect Awesome work, FLW would approve
Better moved than destroyed.
No interiors? What a disappointment.
I was about to post the same thing
Still wouldn't call it a disappointment but I would have liked interior shots
Beautiful in many ways. Preservation of structure first chore to finish. Refurbished to original state next. Wright’s vision and concept still artistry first. Function, in his mind, simplistic and no one did it better, in simplicity.
Never was much of a FAN of Frank Lloyd Wright. Just NOT my style. I'm more of a VICTORIAN FAN!!!! He did have some BRILLIANT IDEAS though!!!!
Wright hated Victorians. His goal was to create a uniquely American architecture
A home, I don't care HOW CAREFULLY it is moved, will ALWAYS BE DAMAGED in some way!!!! What a SHAME!!!!
FLW fan but face it, we can thank his "genius" for a lot of poured concrete parking structures that are eyesores. I've visited one of his Usonian homes and it's got the most uncomfortable chairs and beds built into it. Nonetheless, when he's good, he's phenomenal!
Very interesting and clever design
Can just imagine the house built in its place... Philistines !
I'm glad I took advanced English or I would have never known what that word meant.
cool
Awesome combination of high tech and steady video and organic scenery with great music selection. Doesn't get much better. Bravo !!!
👍 more architectures productions please.
I really hate a flat roof........they were the downfall of many of Frank's designs.....they just don't work with nature.
Funny you should mention that. I just watched a PBS special about the Boynton House in Rochester, NY. The owner joked that one of the first questions a FLW house owner asks another owner is: "Does your roof leak?"
@@Ardyen317 not "does" but "how badly does" your roof leak?
I always think it is only me that ponders flat roofs that way They ARE beautiful. They are NOT practical in North Dakota 😎 We have 14 inches outside now!
Its all how its built. Most buildings in most cities have flat roofs. Take a brick and put it in your yard, after a rain does it have a inch of water standing on it?
The DJI Spark does a great job. I’m sold. After much research and owning 3 cheaper drones I’m ready for one. Brand new ones can still be found even though they quit producing them. I came here in my search to view FLW designs. Realizing what drone was used is a pleasant surprise.
