My Life's Tracks
Приєднався 26 сер 2020
This channel is about my life and my love of model trains and real trains. I’ve been interesting in trains for 51 years. I plan on covering my layout being built (whenever I get it started!), highlighting new HO pieces I get, showing train related places people my not know about and experimenting with model trains.
This channel intended for Adult Model Train Collectors.
(Legend has it, my Mother built an Athearn Blue Box Railcar while pregnant with me. So technically I’ve been modeling trains before birth!)

A big THANK YOU to everyone who helped make this a great show! I have to apologize, I misspoke and said Matt gave me those two diecast cars, it was Mike who gave me the cars. Sorry about that Mike!

In this video I show their Budweiser Rail cars and I discuss that the 2024 line is not the old Model Power molds. I hope this video is you for Bud! The video may seem a little choppy, but they were doing Operations and I didn’t want to get in the way. This is a two tier layout with a helix. I hope to come back when the new section is up and running! Make sur...

Dude they were arguing when I walked by them 🤣
If I lived in Rochester, I would do a live feed every Friday night of those two called “Model Train Point Counterpoint!” 😁
Heck yeah I want a full video on the 44 tonner. And you still owe me a runby from the LAST video. Plus you need to do a Halloween video pdq. As always, thanks for taking me to the train shows. Appreciate it!
Ok! I have plans for a Halloween diorama, but I’m so busy trying to get that Train lab bridge finished!
@@MyLifesTracks oh yeah the bridge!
Oh my god. You got stephen vs justin.
The highlight of the show for me!🤣
You always cover the shows really well. And the pick ups you find there are always awesome. I like the older stuff you come across really liked the uncoupler and the crossing gate, and really awesome of the president to give you those two cars.. awesome stuff..
Thank you. I’m having a blast finding those older pieces in the original box. They really had great pieces way back when. I’m surprised with modern electronics there aren’t more action cars being made these days in HO.
@my life's tracks awesome video of the train show I started laughing when you show the signs of wife said called and said buy anything you want and two kids trying to start a fight about a stream engine keep up the good work my friend
Thank you! I loved that sign too. It would make a good t shirt.
Saw a few of my purchases still on the table when you were filming. We were there until 4:30 if you count our conversation into that.
@@cp368productions2 I lose all track of time at shows. (Pun intended!) I can’t wait to see what you got!
Nice finds Mark! It was great to see you there again as always. Those Rapido 44-tonners are awesome, I've got the O&W version. And I agree the history of HO is not as well covered as O. Tony Cook's HO scale trains resource was always the website I used to go to to learn about older HO products. But that's been in a transition state for a while now
It was great to see you! I’m sure we’ll see each other again at the Syracuse show. I would love to talk to Tony Cook. We seem to gave similar interests in the hobby. My all time favorite magazine is HO collector.
@@MyLifesTracks I'm sure of it, I'll be working it this year, either our O gauge layout or the ride on train depending on where I'm needed. That'd be awesome he is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to that. Hoping he makes it to Springfield this coming year
Looks like such a great show! I was disappointed not to make it (again) this year, but who knows... maybe in January! Nice haul from the show, too, though I'm disappointed that there weren't any swings at the end!
You really really need to make it to this show! Those guys are friends so the debates don’t get too heated.😀
Great show! With so much to see and buy I don’t know how you decide on the items to take home to add to your collection. Fun video😊
I usually do one lap of a show, writing down notes of things I find interesting. Then I decide what is the thing I want most. It’s not always easy!😁
Excellent coverage as always Mark! I always enjoy your train show posts! (Dave).
Thank you so much! I have to say going up shows is my favorite thing.
@@MyLifesTracks you're very welcome and yes indeed it can be for sure.
Did you check the coupler height?
@@davidbarrera308 Yes and they are at the correct height.

Nice catches on a beautiful day.
It’s so nice to have a prefect day of railfanning. It doesn’t always go that way!😄
I heard a few trains but they were all while I was on the roof.
I hope you get that roof stabilized!
@@MyLifesTracks lots of photos in the community tab
Nice catches! 309 seemed to be especially in a hurry! But where in the world is Campville? Add that to a list of towns I've never heard of. Haha
Campville is between Endicott and Owego. There are two crossings there. I finally got to record at the one crossing!
@@MyLifesTracks where is Endicott? Where did Owego?

Thank you buddy! It’s rare to see trains running so close in this area.
Beautiful day indeed and scenes in this video. Cool catches and enjoyed watching. Have a great upcoming week.(Steve)
Thank you so much. If I had left the house 10 minutes sooner, I would have gotten 4 trains.
@@MyLifesTracks you're very welcome and hopefully next time you can make it up.
Never laid hands on a Lionel HO car, but those look really nice.. the clydsdale one is really nice, but i liked the gold color one a bit more.. looked a nice kit for the brewery..
I love their action cars they made decades ago when they first made HO. I asked Lionel if they still have the molding for those cars and sadly they don’t. Their new molding for their 2024 line up is pretty nice. I hope their reentry into HO is a success, because I’m having a blast collecting these!
Nice cars and model kit, Mark.
Thanks, I’m really enjoying these Collectable lines Lionel is making.
how did the cars behave for you? because based on the reviews i've seen for Lionel HO cars, (2nd hand Model Power tooling), they are either Hit or Miss.
Lionel’s 2024 HO cars are new molding. Of all the new cars I’ve gotten this year, all the cars run very smoothly. The couplers are at the correct height, the wheels are in gauge and they have better weight than the old Model Power cars.
All they did was stick their name on a Faller model kit. Not even a new kit, been available since the late 70's
It’s still a cool kit no matter whose name is in it.
Pretty cool! I saw the box said Concord NC, that's just North of Charlotte. I think they have a Lionel retail store at the Concord Mills Mall. Hey, no runby? Jeez... 🍻
That would be a cool store to visit! I’ll do a run by in the next video. 😀
Thanks for the memories ❤️

Very nice looking cars and train. Enjoyed watching and have a great upcoming Thursday. Steve
@@StormySkyRailProductions I hope they make a few more so I can have a longer train!🚂 🍺
@@MyLifesTracks very cool indeed.
Why does that BNSF have window stone guards? What does Mexico have to do with any of this? Was this unit often used as a DPU on rock or coal trains and the guards were installed to prevent loose rocks and coal from smashing or getting the windows dirty?
That locomotive would make runs to Mexico and the protect the crew from vandals and thieves who would throw rocks at the windows, they put on theses screens/bars.
Always loved Berkshires, something about the wheel arrangement and proportions. I've been fortunate to see several across the country. And the smaller live steam miniatures? Those are really great too.
@@mrcpaddler The Berkshire has a very handsome stance. Of the six surviving NKP Berkshires, I’ve seen 3. The last three I haven’t seen are in Ohio. I think I have about 14 in HO scale!
Pretty cool place. Maybe a little nerdy🤓 but I mean that in a good way.
Who in model trains isn’t nerdy?🤣
Glad you could come by and show our layout! Hope you feel honored to be on our sticker door!
@@ritmodelrailroadclub5827 It was a fun time. Thank you for the invite. I am very honored to have my sticker on the door. Now every time someone looks at the train room door and sees my sticker, they’ll say “who?”😄
That's a beautiful layout. Seems like a lot of fun to operate, too. I love how they have all of the little track maps in the various towns. I need to incorporate that in my dream layout that I'll never build!
I can see where it would be a great place to get away from studies for awhile and relax with your pals.
Looks like a lot of work to be done.
It's always a lot of work to be done because every new set of students does something different. It changes every time you go and always will.
As Tim has said one of the unique things about this club is the rotation of students. There are alumni that help run the layout.

Thanks for taking me to another cool train show. You didn't get me any ice cream though☹. Tell Seth I said hey.
@@MyFingerLakesRailwayLayout The icecream stand I went to is Big Top Icecream that sits right next to the NS main line. I hadn’t been there since about 1977! That soft peanut butter icecream was so good. Maybe next time I could pack some in dry ice and ship it to you!😄
