I disagree with most of your critiques after having listened to AWE a ton now and I've been a hip hop fan since the early 90s. So let me give you my review and why I feel this way The Woke Up remix is pure meant as homage which XG is known for. It introduces more people to the Asian hip hop artists that paved the way for XG. I also wished Woke Up was on the mini album but I also get why they didn't because now the track stands on it's own on the mini album. To use your example. People who know Grindin' from The Clipse first album Lord Willin' have no clue that there are remixes of that song. People just know the version that has a music video with it. If Woke Up and the remix were both on the mini album the purpose of what XG wanted to do by highlighting these artists in the Asian hip hop community wouldn't have worked as much. After having listened to both Winter Without You and In The Rain I think the latter is as good or might be even better than Winter Without You. It's a better song in displaying that truly all seven members can sing and not just can do harmonies as a group, on Winter Without You you don't get that. Jurin, Cocona and Harvey are still rapping, and Hinata was still the third wheel in the vocal line. On In The Rain however, we get a true rnb ballad again for the first 75-80% and then it switches up and become a little bit more up-tempo. Plus we actually hear Jurin, Harvey and Cocona really sing for several lines and Hinata no longer feels like a third wheel to Chisa and Juria. So I think the only reason why you prefer Winter Without You is because usually new Christmas songs suck so the song gives you a nostalgic feeling that In The Rain doesn't give you because it's just another song about heartbreak but the most popular Christmas songs are all 30 years old or older. On In The Love I'm still not sure. I love the harmonies and I enjoy the song a lot but it also truly feels like a b-side due to the short length and the same sort of chorus that Something Ain't Right has where the chorus starts to feel a bit repetitive because it's only three words being repeated. A week ago I would've told you I hated the Space Meetings skit because it didn't make any sense to me. Then I watched XG's interview with Zach Sang and the group saying they have Space Meetings every week to discuss what they wanna do in the future. So that changed my mind because XG loves to hint at things in the future, I just have no clue what the hint is in Space Meetings. For instance on X-Gene they hint that they will do a full a song like Howling with the line "Howling the start" near the end as the drill beat slowly goes away and the fact that the song has also a drill beat where they both sing and rap on. IYKYK I love more than most people because it reminds me of the music from like Craig David and Daniel Bedingfield's debut albums and how it felt like a pop song but had a different flavor to it due to what I later found out was called UK garage Something Ain't Right is my least favorite song but I still like it a lot. I love that it starts with three of the four rappers really singing but for me the chorus is stretched out too long which is not good if it's the same three words but it's still better than most music that comes out today, if only for the crisp vocals, lyrics that actually make logical sense and that there is no autotune or weird rap that totally doesn't work with the tone of the song. Howling I believe is XG's best song to date because it does what Woke Up did which is hit you in the face with hard bars, different flows and good rhyme schemes but also lets the three vocalists do what they do best, which is giving you beautiful harmonies and giving you a different emotion on the same song. If I had to describe AWE, I would say it was a good attempt at what A Tribe Called Quest did with The Low End Theory. They did what people were expecting but also showed people that they were capable of doing more, some you wouldn't expect. So my score for the album is a solid 8/10. For the great diversity of the songs, better at showcasing the strengths and talents of each single member and that they keep raising the bar by putting out quality songs in different genres while still having it feel like an XG song.

love both groups but I'm def a newjeans music gal! the newjeans instrumental just has more substance and life compared to illit (even attention in my opinion) because the instrumental is never JUST drum beats and the catchiness is consistent throughout the entire song and its not just the chorus carrying it, there's also always bells, "aye aye ayes", "woom woom wooms", and different timing play between beats that illit just doesn't provide, the parts that "feel empty" are always filled with a catchy beat like horns, a synth, or fast paced cow bells, listen to "eta without the horns" and you'll understand! eta without the horns basically just feels like a illit song, but also.. I just love R&B and jazz so it might just be a preference, and it's understandable that some people would prefer the simplicity or even a song that only has a short part of it being catchy (I mean take get up by newjeans as a example), anyways, great video, keep up the good work!

Not a stretch. That's EXACTLY where that flip of the flashlight is from. You got it. Congratulations. I've watched probably 50 "reaction" videos of this MV and only one other guy mentioned the Terminator 2 reference for that scene. That's the first thing I thought of when Jieun flipped the flashlight, then shot it. That's the T-800 reloading his shotgun in the movie...not to mention him jumping down into the riverbed just like the girls did.

Young Posse is a breath of fresh air in Kpop, probably why they are not as popular but they are making people love them because of their talent. Taking classic hip hop sounds and bringing it to the forefront is so dope. They aren't the cookie cutter cutesy, sex symbol Kpop. They are fun, strange, goofy and very personable. Only other group that's heavily hip hop influenced is Badvillain but YP is using more classic sounds. Great reaction.

Common is only 4 years younger than LL, but two generations behind him in hip-hop. LL started so young, he's roughly the same age as a lot of the rappers he inspired.
