Hey guys! I'm a young music junkie that is absolutely in love with the music of Bruce Springsteen. While he's not my favorite artist overall, that honor goes to Led Zeppelin, he's very high up there and he's also one of the greatest live acts of all time. The man made some legendary music back in the day that should be deemed essential listening for anyone who's a fan of the 70s and 80s. He's been one of my favorites since before I started grade school, and I'm a big bootleg enthusiast, so why not make a Bruce bootleg channel, I thought. I'll mostly upload the stuff from 1973-1988, but if you have any requests from later years, just let me know and I'll look around for you. The only ones I won't upload are official releases. Bruce's archive series defines him incredibly well as a live musician, but if you want to go more in depth, this channel is for you. I'm really hoping it stays up.
Special thanks to Led Zeppelin Boots for advertising my channel, I really appreciate it man!

Bruce Springsteen - 25. Quarter To Three(New York 8/23/78)
Alright, so sorry about being inactive for awhile. I lost a bit of drive to upload and have also been dealing with school, but for the time being, I'm back with this. I'm going to be doing playlist uploads from now on to try to avoid copyright claims more, and these are a real pain to do, but I'm gonna try it anyway.
Anyway, this is the third and final night of Bruce and the E Street Band's three night stand at Madison Square Garden, taking place on August 23rd, 1978. This show is fantastic as is to be expected with these Darkness tour gigs, so you can be assured this will be an enjoyable listen. Backstreets is one of the best I've heard, and the whole show from top to bottom is probably one of the best I've heard that hasn't been officially released from this tour. This is my personal favorite of the three MSG shows, as the setlist is a bit expanded and the performance is white hot. Enjoy guys!

Been listening to this for almost 50 years. Nothing comes close. The words, intensity, story, nothing comes close.
God bless you for sharing ❤😊
Fantastic.❤❤❤❤❤
holy grail show! holy grail show! but the 2 cleveland shows with southside just a month earlier would also make for a nice nugs 2pak just sayin' ;)

For sure the best version
That saxophone ruins everything. Good lord. Ugh.
10/29/2024, I have a beer, it's night time, the volume is up 🍻🤝
I was there and totally stunned at how great this show was.
My Buddy worked for CBS records in the 70’s and gave me a bootleg of this concert. Cherish it forever.
And well you should. My new (& current) wife and I live in Athens, GA, but were in the Bay Area on December 15, 1978, visiting my parents. We went to this sold-out concert without tickets, but since it was "festival" seating (no chairs) it was pretty easy to find four singles. It was arguably the greatest rock show I've ever experienced, before or since. Not long after returning to Athens, probably mid-January, I was browsing a store that carried a limited number of "bootlegged" concerts on those old, round vinyl "records," that were played in those days on things called "record players." I bought the first of what was eventually a 100+ collection of boots of Springsteen concerts. I've seen pretty much everyone who was anyone, beginning with with the Jefferson Airplane, Janis Joplin with Big Brother & the Holding Company, the Rolling Stones, in Oakland, in 1969, and Mr. Springsteen 61 additional times. (And have the substantially diminished hearing to prove it.) I don't think anyone, including Bruce, himself, has ever put on a show that rivaled the intensity, the emotion, the pure excitement of his 1978 "Darkness on the Edge of Town" tour shows. IMO, these were The Greatest Show on Earth, the greatest rock & roll that has ever been or is ever likely to be.
@ wow!! I’m about as far away from you in NA as you can get in Vancouver bc, Canada. First time I saw Bruce was maple leaf gardens January 20, 1981 and it was one of those 4.5 hr concerts that made him the legend he is. I remember the guy beside saying to me he wasn’t really a boss fan until then but now understands. Saw him again couple times during 84-85 born in the USA concerts but it was outdoor and had audience size had grown to 80,000 so wasn’t as intimate as the gardens. The best was April 2003 during the rising tour. My brother and I decided to get in line early that day outside pacific coliseum - which is an old wooden building great for concerts - to get into the pit. We ended up 5 rows from stage, it was a religious experience. Sadly, my buddy who was the cbs rep passed on last year. Bruce lost one of his biggest fans that day. Miss ya Donnie.
Thank you so very much. I'd been wondering for years if anyone had the night after Lennon was shot. I'd heard for years about his preshow comments and the encore being Twist and Shout. I was at the first show after his long time keyboard player Danny Federici passed. That night the entire show was super charged with electricity. I have seen a few nights in rock that were "electric" but for entirely different reasons. Keith Richards solo show at the Hollywood Palladium. It was a fucking highly anticipated night. The crowd was fairly well heeled. Keith Richards tickets were not cheap. So I saw no teenagers or people in just jeans and tshirts. Dress shirts and women to the nines. Santana in Tijuana Mexico. Lol Different crowd. Lol they actually ran out of beer about 2/3 into the show. No tequila. No mas cerveza. I would have thought that impossible in Mexico!! Dylan and The Grateful Dead at Anaheim Stadium. Now Angel Stadium. Intense. Especially once the sun went down and it began to cool off. To see almost 100,000 people, at least 75% on psychedelics of some kind sing along to Rainy Day Women #12 and #35 (otherwise known as Everybody must get stoned. Lol Well it was a trip. Lol The Who at the Nokia in Los Angeles in 2008. The Who in a relatively small venue? One of the best shows I've ever seen. I had 10th row floor seats. To be about 20ft from Pete Townshend as he played Sparks from Tommy. My girlfriend at the time said I appeared to go into a trance. Lol I told her later at our place, well honey, for fucks sake, Pete Townshend was 20ft away from me playing one of the great instrumental parts from motherf--king Tommy, something would be wrong if I hadn't gone into a trance! Lol But forgive me, I digress. Thank you again, to me, a huge Bruce fan, this night is like one of the holy grail shows of all rock and roll. I'm gonna listen to it all the way through right now. First time I ever saw Bruce was on this tour. On Halloween night at the Los Angeles Sports Arena. I was 13, my brother who took me was 18. Changed my fucking life. From that night on the only thing I've ever wanted to do was be a rock star. Oh well. I've had a lot of fun though. Lol
the snippet of 'Sweet Soul Music' in 'Rosalita' is insane
The vocal variations from The River Tour 'Ramrod' and Born in the USA Tour's is interestingly unique
Does anybody have footage of "out in the street" when Bruce speaks some words Swedish (I think)? I had it on tape last century, but lost it.
This was my first Bruce concert also. Woke up that morning to Bruce on the local rock radio station. Heard he was playing at the Forum. On a whim went down early alone to see if I could get a ticket. Got one about 75 feet from stage left. Best concert of all I've seen by him.
One of Bruce's greatest songs.
One of their best ever performances and that's saying something!
Now HERE is the great live version. Plenty of guitar.
Williams Shirley Walker Charles White David
Davis Amy Brown Daniel Young Sandra
OMG, I was there. I still have the Veterans/Springsteen poster from this concert. Thanks for this.
well said. i was there 43 years ago, tonight at the Sports Arena, as i type. thanks for sharing this one off concert that rocked my soul then....and presently.
It DID happen again - 10 years later, Gulf War
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😮
This live show is (although in relatively poor quality) uploaded by Springsteen on Spotify. It's not on his main page of 'discography' but if searched up then it can be found. The final 3 songs are cut off (no Jungleland) and Thunder Road is uploaded twice (the 2nd being under the title of Ramrod). Sounds like a bit of a shambles but some of the versions are incredible. Point Blank and Jackson Cage instantly come to mind
Absolutely mind-blowing! So glad to have actually witnessed these early shows back in the day!
I was incredibly fortunate to have caught so many of these early shows. They were incredible! I knew I was witnessing something VERY special!
I'm listening to this in June 2024. I was at this show. 43+ years ago...11th row on the floor. I was 30. Greatest night of my life. So, I'm listening to thiis incredible show and I'M RIGHT BACK THERE in the Spectrum. Thank you very very much to whoever taped this and to the person who loaded it for our enjoyment. Again. I thank you.👍
That's the Springesteen I remember! Saw many of those shows back when Sancious and Lopez were still in the band. It was magical!
Trapped!
My kids ask me why I like Bruce Springsteen so much when there’s so many talented young singers out there today. My answer is always the same. Bruce and the band had soul. IMO, it’s similar to the gospels from the old South, Bob Marley and the Wailers reggae and Berry Gordy’s Motown singers. They didn’t just sing songs, they lived those songs. They were stories of the life that they and others lived, suffered and rejoiced. You can feel the emotion in their voices. You can’t forget that and you keep coming back to it.
The sound quality is fantastic. However… I believe the tape is running slow.
Cleveland Agora same year is better!
I agree 100% raw and spontaneous
I’m Cleveland born and have lived here my whole life. Agora show that year was amazing. Gotta say this one is better though.
I agree, you can feel his hurt
Sicuramente uno dei pezzi che rappresentano TUTTO LO SPIRITO SELVAGGIO E RIVOLUZIONARIO DEL ROCK AND ROLL.... AMAZING!!!!
Such a fleeting, magical time.
This was my first Springsteen show.. Thank you for a wonderful memory! I’ve seen him countless times since the summer of ‘78, including last year in NC, but all these years later this is still my favorite of his shows.
Thanks for posting this concert. Not seen it before today. The sound is excellent as are your uploads. Patti is finding confidence with her singing and she adds a good harmony to the songs. A good concert. ❤❤❤❤❤
Tout ce que chantes the Boss c'est very very vers irrésistible ❤❤❤❤ et de toutes les versions❤
Can't remember if it was this exact show (Played multiple nights) and think he may have even returned for second set of shows on this tour. I was lucky enough to catch two of them at the Sports Arena for the River tour. Actually my favorite Bruce show ever. I first saw Bruce & E St in April 1973 at the Ohio University Music Festival. I had no prior awareness of him. He was the 2nd band on the opening night bill (2 nights) which included The Eagles as headliners, Jo Jo Gunne (Joe Walsh), Blood Sweat & Tears and more. He absolutely stunned the crowd and I was a fan forever. I read a quote much later by Don Henley who is said to have made a point to see Springsteen that night. Henley "I remember thinking to myself that this was a guy that wasn't gonna be warming up the crowd for us or for anybody for very long". True enough.
Thanks for posting this concert. Unlike the few comments l have read, l was not at this concert or any other. Although of a similar age to Bruce, l had never listened to him and the ESB until 6months ago l love listening to their early concerts, wishing l had known of him years ago when l could have gone to one of his concerts. Those who have, treasure your memories. You never know what the future might bring. My life is an example of that , l meant to be healthy and active at this stage in my life. Instead l rely on UA-cam for my Bruce fixes and am grateful for those who record and post them for me to listen to. I am at Thunder Road at the moment and am enjoying his ad libs.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
As a new, though older, fan, l am fascinated by Bruce’s early live recordings and this is the earliest l have found in my 6 months of diligent study of his life in song. The sound quality is excellent and l must thank you for posting this recording. I love this version of Sandy, a much underplayed song. He sounds very relaxed, perhaps because he feels surrounded by people who know him and music. He is star already and doesn’t have to prove himself. Love you Bruce and the truly excellent band you had with you that night.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
COOL!
