@@PaceyPimp actually there are asteroids out there that are expected to consist entirely or to a big percentage of precious metals. Oumuamua is thought to be made of metals and rock, however it would still be interesting to get there 👍

@ unfortunately I do not agree. Whether you like it or not, nuclear power does not emit any CO2 which is the relevant thing in that matter. Handling the residual waste is another topic that hopefully will be taken care of with technological progress, and as we can already see today modern reactors leave already less radioactive waste than years ago. In the future there will be even better reactors utilizing material that we now call waste and consider depositing. From my point of view the most important thing is to now disregard any potential solutions based on ideology.

If everything should be taken into account in order to get an unbiased view, please do not forget to also include the resources required for the build-up / production of the facilities in relation to the amount of energy produced and further also the amount of resources required to store the electrical energy if it is not a stable generation method suitable to provide base-load. @@MiguelAngelVicentemoralesIndeed, with a thick nitrogen atmosphere, the presence of surface liquids and the organic chemistry there are a lot of similarities but on other hand also some differences when it comes to the temperature and the fact that there’s no liquid water and hostile conditions in general. But as you say it is interesting that thee are many similarities that might help us to understand the development of our own planet while studying them. ☺️

The conditions on these ice giant planets are extreme, with high pressure and temperatures in their atmospheres that could cause methane (CH₄) to break down, leading to the formation of carbon. Under these intense conditions, the carbon may crystallize into diamonds, which could then fall like rain toward the planets’ cores. The process itself has been theorized based on laboratory experiments simulating those conditions as well as on behalf of computer models of the atmosphere. However, To be fair, neither one of us has been there yet to witness this phenomenon ☺️
