    The Quai of Smyrna before the fire of 1922 was amazing. Unfortunately Turks burnt it to get rid of dead bodies. Greeks and Armenians suffered the most.

    I’m so glad you’re educating us! I adored this sophisticated structure as I rushed to work, the summer of 1978: sophisticated symmetry, ADORED THE HEIGHT and LINES of the building! The impact was stunning ever day! The views from the inside were breathtaking, especially from the 60th Floor!

    I think he got the idea for the exterior after researching WRH, as one would do in a project of this magnitude, inevitably watching Citizen Kane, in "The Famous Last Words" scene, there's a long drawn out shot of an old chain link fence ironically mirroring this very design. He's also left with an image at the very end, as the bedroom windows in the "Rosebud scene" carry the same design! Obviously it could be a coincidence, or it could be an unconscious influential factor.

    When you say "... I'm absolutely sure absolutely convinced a hundred percent that if you're alive right now on earth it is for a purpose...", logically I have to take that as a belief in a Creator, i.e. God. That is because a creator is part of the definition of purpose. A number of people will say we make our own purpose but here you have said we're born with a purpose so we can't make it up ourselves. And if we agree that God has given us life and a purpose for that life and gifts of talent, isn't it appropriate that we should focus on God rather than on His gifts to us? In our ordinary human experience, we give gifts of great worth in order to help form and strengthen relationships. The gifts point us to the Giver. Once you see that clearly, the purpose of our lives also becomes clear. It is to seek our Creator for He has invited us to do so. Use your gifts for employment and for enjoyment but they are not your purpose in life.

    • @alykriss
      @alykriss 4 роки тому

      Hi Matthew, there are so many views possible on this! My opinion is based on things that I have come to understand through my own life and it does not exclude at all what you are saying. Some gifts may come since birth, other gifts are developed along the way. Sometimes it takes a lifetime to explore and find, other times less. And once you start unveiling them, the question is how to best use them? How do you put them to a greater service? :) Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on the masterclass and happy you enjoyed watching it.

    • @matthewtenney2898
      @matthewtenney2898 4 роки тому

      @@alykriss I don't think I'm saying anything that isn't just common sense. If there is a gift, there must be a giver. If there is a greater service, there must be an intelligence that makes one service higher than another, if we were put here on earth to do something or be something, there must have be an intelligence that put us here. The very definition of purpose requires a creator. People want their lives to be worth living but worth requires purpose. From our infancy, we have sought things to make ourselves happy and now we're sick of it. We don't want happiness, we want significance.
