8 years after you posted this, here I am needing it and appreciating your work. Nice!
Thankyuh! I need to replace the lower seat support and the 240 are made differently than the first gen 140 which I did in 1987 (spring replacement is MUCH easier on the original 140 series 1968-1971 seats, you can do them in-situ). Thumbs up!👍 Sorta neat that IPD links to your video!
Great video! Thanks for the help, second time watching!
This is what I needed. Thank you
👏👏👏. 好🏆車
The spring washer for the recliner knob with a flat screw driver tap counter back forwards .turn back 1/4 an washer comes off .Great video thanks again
Great video. I think I can do it now. 👍
1:24 On at least some revisions of these seats, the metal disc behind the recline wheel does not need to be removed. Just stick something like the the tips of pliers into two of the four holes on the metal disc so it cannot spin. You can then turn the plastic wheel clockwise (while keeping the metal disc stationary) and it will just pop off. If that works, you can reinstall the plastic wheel by doing the same in reverse.
Really helpful
Awesome tutorial ,good information
I’ll be doing the same thing to my 93 today, gotta keep ‘em clean. Good video
Nice video , thanks you from France
THank you for your informative and highly valueable repair video
Really nice instructive video, thanks a lot! Used it to disassemble my 940 and 960 seats. Some parts are not a 100% the same but it's similar enough to take down the seats with no hassle. And the zip tie tip is golden!
I would disassemble the seat from the back. Make it easier. When I assembled seats at Volvo Torslanda. I had 12 min to do both front seats. Seats and back came ready by itself Just assemble seat and back and put the rails on.
Thank you
Thank god for this video!
Thank you very much, great video
GREAT Video - super helpful!
That was a great video. I did find your background very annoying though - it was so repetitive. There really is no need for music when you speak, it makes it hard to hear for folks with hearing issues.
Great information: thanks :)
Very nice and usefull video! Thank you for postig this! To remove the headrest in a easy way, watch my video. ua-cam.com/video/1t5QfJQ3jkE/v-deo.html
i was putting new seat covers on realy help me out i new were to push to get the head rest off thanks alot
Good video, but why do you put some annoying music in the background? It really makes it more difficult for people to hear what you’re saying. 99% of background music is just crap and is irritating to the listener.
Great video on how to disassemble a 240 seat. Unfortunately, I have a 740! lol But it did still prove helpful. Thanks! :)
Thanks mate
This video was exactly what i needed! Great Job!
Thank you for mentioning the zip ties.
You are a talented video producer. The angles were well staged. I hope this gets more views. You deserve it.
Thanks! Hopefully I'll have some time soon to crank out some more Volvo videos!
Thanks for the video, Jordan.
What is that lever in the back for ?
Adjust the height it has 3 levels.
Great work dude! Professional instructions, good video editing.
Are you OK Jordan, 4 years no any updates
Great video, many thanks, helped a lot! Do You consider to make rear seat as well?
Jordan, you're a good teacher.but can you explain how do you do to reassemble the seat?another video lesson? Is hard to put again the springs in their locations.
awesome video, guy! Thank you.
Great job, but the music is maddening
I love those old Volvos. Big strong comfortable cars.
Man, this was a really good video, thanks !
Great video. The seats are more complicated than they look! One trick for easily removing the headrests is to place your fist in between the top of the seat and the bottom rung of the headrest. Then use your other hand to feel down the back of the seat in line with the headrest post until you feel the little plastic release lever. Push it inward slowly while making a fist with the other hand until you feel the headrest detent release. Then move to the other side of the headrest repeat the process. Then, the headrests slip straight out easily.
U should do videos for a living.this was perfect
the video was of great help. been trying to figure out how to remove my head rest and youve finally managed to show me how. thanks for sharing
super thorough work thanks.
Great video. Very helpful. Just thought I would add that the seat rails have two sets of holes, you can bolt on alternate holes to give a bit more rear travel.
Glad you mentioned this.I’m 6’3” and a late 80’s 240 is snug! My knee constantly rear against the middle console lol.
Hey, thanks for making this video! It's very helpful! These seats are drying up to the point where we have to rebuild them.
Thanks for the great video! Do you think I can switch a passenger seat to drivers side? I know I have to use the same seat frame and rails. I got 2 black cloth passenger seats to replace a very bitched out beige vinyl drivers seat. Just hoping the pads and covers switch over. Thoughts and any other advice?
My pleasure! As long as the seat cushions are the same size/shape, you should be able to swap the cloth over with no problems, as far as I know.
Alright great video ! Just disassembled a 940 seat, the only thing you don't have to take off is the recliner knob...you can leave it attached. The inside has one torx screw and the cover come right up.
hey Jordan, just wanted to say Thanks! the head rests were what i was having problems with. without taking off the covers its a bear Esp by yourself. Great tip on hanging the seat thats how i did it,off a swingset.
You are a very talented video producer! Thank you
Peter Watkins Thanks!
How did you get the seat out of the car? Thanks :) Great video
Pilar Larcade Good question! It's just four bolts. Here's a video that shows where they are: ua-cam.com/video/Jdz0fQizPho/v-deo.html
4 bolts on rails ..think 13 or 14 mm
