There are a bunch of people not planning to go into church ministry! Generally, the people getting MDivs but not going into church ministry are studying to become teachers, to eventually get PhDs and become professors, to go into chaplaincies, to go into social work, or to work in non-profits/para church minitries! The MDiv is a lot like getting a Masters of Business Administration for Christian work that is religious or theological in some sense. There are quite a few different careers you can pursue after getting an MDiv from PTS. What are you interested in?

I am interested in the Global South, the international development field, NGOs, and missions, especially in topics of children and women, health, and mental health. Also, I hope I can pursue a dual degree in MDiv and MSW. For now, I don't really want to be an ordained pastor, so I was quite worried if it is the right choice to pursue MDiv if this program is generally for people who want to go into church ministry. I've carefully read about the curriculums and course descriptions of MDiv and I wasn't sure if I could survive in this program for three years when I am not planning to be a pastor in the future.😂

Oh the dual program is perfect then! I would say that the MDiv classes can be pretty heady at times, but they are starting to lean more and more into practical theology so its possible to take classes that are useful for what you want to do. I havent used this myself, but the Seminary is also partnered with Princeton University and I think you can take at least a few classes at the university for seminary credit while here! So you can have even more options on what to take.
