Haytham biggest mistake was not keeping Shay AT his side. Hé would have rekt connor

Haytham was easily the best villain that has ever graced AC3 I would say he is more of morally grey for a Templar. He has made some good points about how the Templars would rise again, no matter how many times the Assassins cut them down. A neverending war with a neverending sight to it. and he was right. 2012, and beyond, and they're STILL fighting. In either case, Haythams handsome, charming, ruthless, cunning, manipulative, brilliant, a troublemaker, and has the most badass outfits I had seen on a templar. That 18th century flair he got is so cool

This game made a great job of making you sympathize with the antagonists, you actually ended up rooting for them. A stark contrast with the cartoonishly evil templars from AC2, or even the latest games. I never cared for the setting but AC3 was when the franchise peaked narratively.
