Wow. Hamilton didn't make the cut?
where is nelson piquet
Lewis Hamilton’s absence from my top 10 lists of Formula One legends might seem surprising, especially given his record-breaking career. There are several factors that contribute to this: 1. Subjectivity in “Legend” Definitions: Formula 1 “legend” lists are often highly subjective, with different criteria shaping each one. Some lists may prioritize the era in which drivers competed, favoring pioneers like Juan Manuel Fangio or Ayrton Senna, who defined earlier periods of the sport. In these cases, Hamilton’s achievements-though unparalleled in modern times-might not have the same historical weight from a traditionalist point of view. 2. Dominance of Mercedes Era: Many of Hamilton’s championships were won during a period of Mercedes’ dominance, which could lead some critics to argue that his success is partly due to being in the best car. While this is an oversimplification, as Hamilton’s skill is undeniable, comparisons are often made to drivers like Senna or Niki Lauda, who competed in more evenly matched fields. 3. Comparing Eras: Fans and analysts often struggle to compare drivers from different eras. Formula 1 has changed drastically over the decades in terms of technology, safety, and competition structure. While Hamilton’s seven titles match Michael Schumacher’s, some argue that legends from older, more dangerous eras, such as Jim Clark or Fangio, faced far more peril and uncertainty, making their accomplishments seem more heroic. 4. Long-Term Legacy: Hamilton is still an active driver, and while he’s broken records and set new standards, his full legacy is still being written. My focus was on drivers whose careers are complete, allowing a clearer evaluation of their impact and legacy. In contrast, Hamilton’s ongoing career means his ultimate standing in the sport could continue to evolve. 5. Senna/Schumacher Reverence: The emotional connection many fans have with drivers like Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher is incredibly strong. Senna (my next video tribute out soon), for example, is revered not only for his on-track success but for the emotional and cultural impact he had on the sport, particularly in Brazil. Similarly, Schumacher’s dominance came at a time when Formula 1 had a broader global fan base growing into the 21st century. Hamilton’s contemporary achievements are sometimes compared more critically against these fan-favorite legends. 6. Cultural and Historical Influence: Some legends are seen as trailblazers who transformed the sport beyond winning races, like Jackie Stewart’s push for safety or Alain Prost’s strategic mind. Hamilton has undoubtedly influenced the sport through his activism on social issues, but many lists are written before the full impact of these off-track contributions is fully understood. In the end, my to 10 is just that and reflects my personal biases which lead me to the surprising omissions, like Hamilton. As time goes on and Hamilton’s entire career and legacy are considered, it’s likely he’ll continue to climb such rankings and perhaps even be top of my top 10 legends. But please don’t think I don’t like Hamilton, I do. He is a superb racer! 🏁🏎️. Thanks for watching 👀
@@rustyrestos yes but I saw in 80 era senna wins best car in grid Maclaren mp4 Honda.
@@rustyrestos makes sense. Mercedes had a profound edge for years. Daunting task. A lot of talent to fit into only 10 slots.
Nelson Piquet is often regarded as one of the most successful and talented drivers in Formula 1 history, yet he doesn’t always make the top 10 lists of F1 legends. Like Lewis Hamilton, there are several reasons for this, even though Piquet’s three world championships (1981, 1983, 1987) and his influence on the sport are undeniable. Here are some factors that explain why Nelson Piquet is sometimes overlooked in these “greatest of all time” discussions: 1. Underrated Personality and Public Image: Piquet is known for his sharp wit, outspoken nature, and sometimes controversial remarks. While he had a strong technical understanding of the sport and could extract the maximum from his cars, his confrontational personality may have overshadowed his achievements for some fans and critics. His sometimes antagonistic relationships with other drivers, such as Ayrton Senna and Nigel Mansell, created rivalries, but it also meant that his popularity didn’t always match that of his peers. 2. Less Emotional Legacy: Piquet was more of a pragmatic and methodical driver, focused on winning rather than cultivating a larger-than-life image like Ayrton Senna or Michael Schumacher. While he was incredibly skilled, he didn’t have the same emotional connection with fans as drivers like Senna, whose tragic death in 1994 immortalized him as a global icon. Piquet’s more reserved personality didn’t generate the same level of adulation, even though his success on the track was impressive. 3. Rivalries Overshadowing Success: During Piquet’s career, his rivalry with drivers like Nigel Mansell and Alain Prost often took center stage, particularly in the mid-1980s. Mansell, with his aggressive style and strong British following, and Prost, with his “Professor” nickname and strategic genius, often garnered more attention. Even though Piquet came out on top in some of these rivalries, their larger fanbases might have caused him to be somewhat overshadowed in the eyes of history. 4. Driving in the Turbo Era: Piquet achieved much of his success during the turbocharged era of Formula 1 in the 1980s, when car reliability and the role of the teams were extremely important. Some critics might downplay his achievements by pointing to the dominant machinery he had at his disposal, particularly with Brabham and later Williams. This isn’t entirely fair, as all champions benefit from good cars, but the technical and team-dominated aspect of his wins might be emphasized over his driving talent. 5. Consistency vs. Flashes of Brilliance: Piquet was an intelligent and strategic driver, often able to nurse a car to the finish in difficult conditions. However, compared to drivers who delivered dramatic, edge-of-your-seat performances (like Senna or Gilles Villeneuve), Piquet’s style was seen as more consistent and measured rather than spectacular. As a result, his success was often based on calculated risks and racecraft rather than raw displays of speed, which can be less celebrated in retrospect. 6. Comparison to Brazilian Counterparts: Piquet has often been compared to other Brazilian drivers, particularly Ayrton Senna and Emerson Fittipaldi. While he secured more world championships than Fittipaldi, Senna’s unmatched speed, emotional driving style, and global fan following have cast a large shadow over Piquet’s legacy in their shared Brazilian heritage. Senna’s popularity has sometimes left Piquet in the background, despite his own achievements. 7. Success in Varied Machinery: One aspect that should work in Piquet’s favor is his ability to win with different teams-Brabham, Williams, and Benetton. However, because his titles were spread out over different periods and not won in consecutive seasons like some other legends, his dominance doesn’t always appear as obvious when looking at his career as a whole. While Nelson Piquet may not always make the top 10 lists, his achievements are remarkable. He was a technically astute driver, known for his racecraft and ability to adapt to different teams and cars, and his three world titles place him among the sport’s elite. However, his more low-key and sometimes controversial personality, combined with the overshadowing presence of rivals like Senna and Prost, may contribute to his being slightly underrated in discussions of the greatest Formula 1 legends. Nonetheless, for those who appreciate the strategic side of racing, Piquet remains one of the most intelligent and skilled drivers in F1 history. Let me know your top 10 order? Thanks for watching 👀
Knobs and buttons are the best
Absolutely 👍 Thanks for watching 👀
Senna was voted by 217 F1 drivers as the greatest of all time...they are the people who knows more than anyone of us does .you can google it.
Definetly going backwards, that car design is badass. The new stuff look all the same.
Thank you, unless you go ultra high end Supercar everything is the same. Rather drive a Classic Car. Thanks for watching 👀
@@rustyrestos Also, classic cars are more reliable, and if something breaks is fairly easy to fix. Nowadays you can only fix stuff IF software allows you to do so. Thanks for sharing your beauty with us and have a great day! :D

I'm just back from a road trip to Germany, their roads and driving standards put us to shame.
I know, this Country is in a mess on many fronts sadly ☹️. Thanks for watching 👀
the chassis looks really heavily corroded - is it not going to soak in water again and pop another screen eventually?
Yeah, rust is always an issue with these older cars. Mine’s 26 years old and could definitely use some grinding down and a respray, which I’ll be sorting out soon. Overall, it's in pretty good shape considering how prone these models are to rust. I told Autoglass to go ahead and fit the screen so I can drive it for now and deal with the bodywork later. Thanks for watching! 👀
If its soot then its a DPF issue, wipe your finger inside the tailpipe if it comes out with lots of black soot then its your DPF that's internally damaged and no amount of additives will fix that
Thanks for the advice will take a look. Probably time to change the car. Especially with the looming green air zones. Thanks for watching 👀
It's an old ford I doubt it has a DPF, didn't come in until around 2009
Both the Mercedes and Jaguar are Euro 5 diesels. Ulez is only Euro 6 diesel?
It’s crazy isn’t it. Then they change the goal posts again and only Euro 7 cars are exempt and then 2 years later it’s Euro 8 only and so on… thanks for watching 👀
the worlds worst car dealer is in keighley. please check out that black bmw very carefully in case it is the dealer in question
Will do, thanks for the heads up and thanks for watching 👀
Never used an additive, but may do so on the other half's car as it never sees any good motorway runs. Can I ask that you rev to the same limits for these tests as it sounded like the post-additive you were lighter on the pedal. Thanks for the test though - maybe I should do the same on the wife's car - video it to see for any improvement.
I did, but the car seemed a little more restricted though. This was after one week, so I will do another video after 2 weeks. I think it needs a few bottles to really make a big difference. You can see slight improvement though. Thanks for watching 👀
Aren't most of these diesel additives 95% kerosene? Kerosene is dirt cheap if you can get it from an untaxed source. Just dump in some of that every once in a while. The only reason you can't run a diesel on 100% Kerosine is because it doesn't lubricate the fuel pumps. In diesels before common rail, you could just add a bunch of old engine oil to compensate. Not advisable with a common rail system. The Wynn's petrol injector cleaner is best used if the fuel is truly contaminated (really no point otherwise) and with 1/8th of a tank or less. Then, go full throttle on the motorway for a bit and fill it up with clean, fresh petrol afterwards.
Stop using tesco diesel and put some shell v-power in also use some Launch UK egr dpf cleaner , much better result's than any wynns additives.
I’ll definitely check that out! I usually fill up with Shell or BP for the good-quality fuel, but I decided to try some cheaper stuff to really test how well the additive works. As I mentioned in the video, it seems like it’ll take a few bottles and more than a week to see real results. Appreciate the tip on the Launch additive, and thanks for watching! 👀
Unlucky, roads in the UK are terrible! 👎
Yep, and we get continually taxed more for using them! 🤬 Thanks for watching 👀

I watched a pro guy on youtube using one. It does seem to work. But he did lots of pulls. Maybe 10 - 20 something like that. And tapped down the metal round the dent. Also I would read the instructions. I don't imagine you are meant to use the screw to pull the dent or use the wrong end of teh slide hammer ;o)

Definitely, the dent kit will not get it absolutely perfect like a professional PDR would, but it’s an old workhorse everyday driver Mondeo that hauls everything from dogs to tip rubbish, a £30 spend to get the dents to barely visible was worth it to me.
