Hello. I'm from Nottinghamshire England. Your record make me salivate. Totally jealous! I collected sixties soul from from 15 years old on original vinyl too. Although from 1971 it was know as Northern soul. Still love it today, although sold all my records now. Belles, the otherside was massive here, still is. Just fixated with with entertainment you provide. Thank you.
Greetings Mark from across the Pond!! Welcome to my broadcast...and glad you are enjoying it! I was collecting 50's & early 60's vocal groups, but also a big fan of SOUL...which includes the UK term, Northern Soul....I picked up a lot over the years...NOT everything...but some good ones, but I feature all types of soul on my program! I just like to talk about my collecting experiences and providing a background on the groups, singers, writers etc...trying to make it both enjoyable, entertaining and informative!! Thanks for discovering the Vinyltreasure Show...please inform your friends...I have many UK listeners, some stay up to listen LIVE!! Be well.....JohnnyG
I will inform people of your wonderful show! Love your input too! Just fantastic. By the way, Larry Allen does fetch high end prices here. The Drifter is my favourite tune too. Used to have a British release of it. Both American and British releases top end prices too. Again, thank you!
@@markmchugh9824 cool...sides I did feature on this show! and I did get the L. Allen at a very reasonable price...the Ray Pollard found in the wild!
Another terrific show. Thanks for all your work.
YW Frank....thanks for taking the time to let me know....JohnnyG

Did ya play any GARNET MIMMS ? Just turned onto. Reckon he is still alive, doin gospel. Nth comes up on the web. Odd. Know anyth ? O er
Hi Sulevi...yes Garnet Mimms is still alive....at one time he did give up his singing career...since 2007 he has been singing Gospel....I have a number of Garnet's singles...missing a couple on United Artists...is there a specific song by him you prefer? You know prior to his solo career he was the lead singer of the 1950's vocal group the GAINORS....Thanks JohnnyG
It's funny how a song can trigger certain memories. We had a little record shop out in Hayward, CA, which is long gone now, but the place was our hang-out for many years. Anyhow, the store was in an old, two story house, built in 1899, that was once a cobbler or something. There was a small staircase that led to the upper floor, that was behind a door usually kept locked. There were records everywhere in this place and yes, there were small boxes of 45's on those stairs as well. Since there were no lights on the stairs or the hallway, etc, they were in, I had to grab a flashlight from the guy who ran the place. In one of those boxes, I remember finding a VG + copy of, "Pretty Little Girl" by The Monarchs. It was here at this store also, that I met a guy, who was from Brooklyn, that once sang with The Tokens. He had known Frankie Lymon and Danny Rapp and a bunch of other guys. I had a vocal group of my own back then and he wanted to hear us and left an address, but I young, unfocused and going thru romance issues, etc, and so, I didn't follow up with the guy. My copy of, "Pretty Little Girl" is on the yellow Neil label, by the way.
Greetings MrRJDB....that is a very cool memory...thanks for sharing it here on my UA-cam site! What ever happened to your vocal group?? JohnnyG
I've always thought that more should've happened for The Danleers. They had their big record, "One Summer Night", and that was pretty much it, as far as, success goes. They had a great sound.
Their follow up to "One Summer Night" did get air play here in NYC...which I prefer to their hit, called "I really love you" on MERCURY..a 45 my Aunt purchased in 1958...and their 3rd is a great 2 sider..."Prelude to love/A picture of you" .....JohnnyG
Johnny G can you please play for me Since I Been in Love by The Dramatics thanks 🙏 George

Johnny G you was wrong when you said " " 45's are hard to get today " because the prices are going up i when to this place called Strawberry Fields in Hampden and the 45' s was a dollar a piece i bought over a hundred 45's a lot of these records were from the 50's and the 60's they were on legendary labels and they were in mint condition and they look brand new i went to the right place and bought them thats what I want to tell you George 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
Thats why i like to watch The Vinyl Treasure Show it's my favorite show and I watch it all the time George 😊😊😊
Hi George....thanks for posting here....that is great that you can get 45's for $1....now they may be reproductions...and still a great deal if you purchase them for $1....thanks for letting me know....Johnny

HI JOHNNY, I enjoyed your show Thanks.Another PLEASURE show you gave to us, .ALL THE BEST,HAPPY BIRTH DAY TO YOUR MOM #1 FAN,
HI Amnon, thanks for checking out the ALL 78 show on the archive! and also for the Birthday wish for my Mom.. I will relay your message...Have a great weekend! JohnnyG
After hearing that great Hesitations record, I thought about adding it to my collection so I looked it up on ebay and....no, I won't be adding that. Kind of a pricey record. Thanks for playing it. The main reason I listen is for discoveries like that. Keep doing what you're doing.
Hi Joe,...yes that is a 45 many of the Northern Soul collectors are searching for....I picked it up with a bunch of other 45's....so it was cheap for me....there might be a repro available that would be much cheaper...Glad you are hearing NEW discoveries on my show! Best regards, JohnnyG
of all kinds. so much fun to hear all these tunes and look at the beautiful labels. thank you again for playing these for us. always appreciate it for sure! see you saturday night, your friend, rob
Thank you Rob... looking forward to seeing you Saturday Night! Stay well....Best, JohnnyG
hi johnny, yet another super 78 show! as always a great selection of records
Thanks Rob for checking out the archive!!! Johnny
Great show! I dont get to see it live, but i watch it on my tv from the youtube app. If you have it or maybe you played it before. But i would love to hear Lonnie Johnson- Tomorrow Night. That reminds me of my late grandfather. Also, my late God-Father had tons of 78s when i was a kid in the 1970s. He had all the late 40s & 50s blues, and early rock & roll. Unfortunately he lost all of them in a flood in 2001. So the records you play bring back memories for me. Thanks again.
Greetings John....that's what the archive is for...many of my listeners are out of my East Coast time zone or they are busy ..working etc...so that's why the archive comes in handy!! Sorry that your Godfather lost all those 78's ...tragic...I understand there were some collectors who lost everything in the horrific fires in California...including their record collections!! With regard to the LONNIE JOHNSON song you mention... I do have it...on a 45...it was initially released on a 78 in 1948...which I might have, but not sure....Syd Nathan would re-release it, TWICE...once in 1954 and then again in 1959 on KING...they might have added a chorus to the 1954 release and even more to the 1959 release...I have both those checked off in my book....so I can play it tomorrow night for you in the 1954 block...but it might sound a bid different with the added stuff....Thanks again for listening and please continue to enjoy the shows! Best , JohnnyG
Reeewind; missed the live, I’m here to listen and learn a bit today though. Be well ( Ooh! I know this “Tiger Rag” by the Mills Brothers funnily enough it’s the 1-2nd play. Have it in a pre-50s playlist, though my music is mostly on streaming) My grandparents all older then them *edited*
Greetings Crmsnraider...thanks for checking out the archive....Enjoy!! johnnyG

Hi Indrajit....you are very welcome....unfortunately this show was much TOO long, and this is not directed to you., but since you have so nicely presented ALL the groups I featured on this show listeners can see it's A LOT......I have to cut it down...it will start this coming Saturday....I would recommend listeners to send me multiple requests..BUT I will select ONE or TWO...depending who provided me with requests first...to get the no more than 50 songs played per show....at least the Saturday Show....I hope those that send me requests understand this.....over 5 hours to sit is way too long!!
