YOU KNOW WHO TELLS THEM “NO"?
NOBODY!
IT’S 1945.
THE BOYS ARE BACK.
BUT THE FIGHT FOR A NEW AMERICA IS JUST BEGINNING.
BANDSTAND brings the swing-fueled, against-all-odds story of singer/songwriter Donny Novitski and his band of mismatched fellow vets brilliantly to the stage.
When a national contest to find America’s next music sensation offers a chance at fame and Hollywood fortune, Donny must whip his boys into fighting shape. Teaming up with a beautiful young war widow as their singer, and playing for every voiceless underdog in a world that has left them behind, they will risk everything to redefine the meaning of victory and sing truth to power.
Directed and choreographed by two-time Tony Award® winner Andy Blankenbuehler (Hamilton, In the Heights), starring

This is my favorite show
This is the most Broadway version of this that I’ve ever heard...
Amazing.
Wow I love her so much
Ahhhhhh just seeing this :(
Why did this show close?? It was amazing and not only that, it meant so much!!!!!
This brought tears to my eyes. Beautiful song, beautiful singing, powerful scenes.
0:10 is that Klaue?
The melody kind of sounds like Taps. 👀And interesting choice to highlight trumpet👀 anyways, I love it!!
Wait... Are the beginning notes of the phrase "Welcome home" the same as Taps?!
I went to see it in theaters and I absolutely loved it!! I had been obsessing over Bandstand for a long time but after the show ended. Being able to at least experience it in theaters was amazing. Even though there weren't many people there, it was just that much more special. Every person I talked to loved it!💕
This video is 1 minute long and I cried anyway. Wow.
I'm amazed by how much this guy dedicates himself to his work.
Will the recording be released to the public for purchase, like the Newsies recording?
Aww he's so good. I saw the Broadway.com video that shows this event from Laura's POV. So cool!
I'm not crying... It's my allergies, I swear..!
Wow 😭😢😭😭😭😭😭😢
I love hearing the background of this genius show!
How does this not have more views?
And my face exploded
I just love this song. The orchestrations to the show are simply refreshing
So today is June 26, 2017. It's one year after this video was posted. It's one year and three days after the album was released, and I fell in love with this show and these composers and even more in love with Corey Cott and Laura Osnes. It is one day after I saw the show on my local AMC movie theatre screen, and I cannot stop thinking about it. I was devastated when I heard this show was closing because I would never get to see this cast in such an important, complex, meaningful show. What I saw on my screen last night moved me in a way that is still hard to verbally express. I know that it reignited my utter rage that this show wasn't recognized more by the Tony voters, specifically for Corey Cott's raw, honest, haunting performance. I honestly didn't think this song could make me weep harder than it already does every time I listen to it. But watching these actors and musicians fight tooth and nail through the entire song, tears running down their faces, voice and instruments desperate unraveled everyone in that theatre. Thank for this show. Thank you for this show. Thank you for bringing awareness to our veterans, many of whom have to come home to fight another war inside their heads. Thank you for bringing it to the theatre so those of us who never made it to NYC to see it could witness this piece in its original glory. And please please PLEASE PLEASE consider allowing the film to be distributed to video for purchase...or even Netflix/Amazon Prime. I want to share this with so many people, and too many of them are not available Thursday to see it.
I completely agree! Beautifully written
I have my tickets!
OMG I JUST RAN DOWN THE STAIRS SCREAMING
This is making me cry.
Hey guys, I k ow bandstand didn't exactly get the best reception of any play on Broadway, but I really loved it, especially this song, so much so that I still think about it a year later, and all the meaning it had
This is so unfair this song already makes me cry with just the audio
❤️❤️❤️❤️❄️❄️❄️❄️
Laura at 0:42 gives me so much life
thank you so much for these back story clips - I’m not sure why I’ve just discovered them now, but I’m glad I did! it gives each song so much more depth and meaning.
This show inspired me to start my own swing band. I'm a singer but for band, I am getting all THE GIRLS IN THE BAND. Yup, all female musicians.
*S P E A K S O F T L Y*

and I've been reduced to a puddle of tears 😭😭😭😭
this is so wonderful
Do I have permission to cry?
Not to sound like a cheesy old white lady, but that shit is breathtaking bro.
I liked this scene better the way it was at the Paper Mill, it was the only change I saw in the show that I really disliked.
How did they have it before?
The scene pretty much looked the same, it was outside of Julia's hotel room door, but it was a completely different song and Julia and Donny ended up kissing at the end of the scene before he left and said goodnight. Honestly I just thought the other song was so much better. It was called "Give Me a Reason" sung just by Donny. It was basically him pleading with her to give him a reason not to kiss her and she couldn't give him a reason not to and it held so much more emotion. As opposed to this song where they're both singing and essentially saying, "we probably shouldn't". To me it just seems kind of impersonal, saying, "Oh if things were like this maybe we would do this". The majority of the song is talking about the emotions of movie stars or book characters as opposed to the other song which is 100% about them and their real emotions. Where Donny was pleading with her, begging, saying "I want you but tell me I'm wrong, tell me that I shouldn't want you and that I shouldn't want to kiss you". But it's what they both want so why get in the way of that? It just seemed so much more organic and I just felt like it fit into the play so much more seamlessly and it was a beautiful song/scene. I really love the Broadway production and I feel like they made a lot of great changes but this is the one change I really disliked, switching out these two songs.
I have loved this song since the beginning!
As an Ohioan I love this song!!

Does anyone know when or if the cast recording will be out on UA-cam?
