What Landon Finds
United States
Приєднався 17 сер 2006
Hi! I'm Landon. I love to explore, discover, learn, and share. I spend a lot of time outdoors, where I look for things like ancient artifacts, fossils, bones, mushrooms, bottles, or whatever! When I find cool things (I'm always finding cool things), I'll try to record those things and share them with you. In exchange, if you dig it, please like, share, and subscribe, ok?
I never know what I'm going to find next, so there's always something new here to discover.
I post because I want to hear from YOU! Tell me about what you like to find or what you think of the stuff I find and post.
Life's an adventure, go live yours!

Damaged projectile point found in northeast Ohio.
Yeah, I know... when you watch this video, it looks like a bait and switch! I don't actually pick up the artifact from the dirt. It's already in my hand because I was stupid and picked it up before I started filming! lol
Regardless, it's a slightly damaged point made of Upper Mercer (Coshocton) flint. I found it at my favorite lake in northeast Ohio, late summer of 2023. It might be a Kirk corner notched, which would make it around 8,000 years old!
Thanks for watching and sorry again about the weirdness of this "pull" video!
GLHH

Yellow Morel Babies

I find my first yellow morels of the 2024 season near a large dead Elm tree. These baby monsters were left to grow (I took another video a week later), how big can they get?? Sorry for the traffic noise, unavoidable.
Ancient flint scraper tool recovered from an Ohio lakeshore.

This beautiful ancient artifact was found in northeast Ohio in 2023. It is possibly a Hopewell type of point whose tip was re-tooled to be a rounded scraper or knife. The material might be Burlington chert, the source of which is over 500 miles away! If it's a Hopewell point, it was made around 1,500-2,000 years ago. Hope you enjoy the video, GLHH!
True arrowhead recovered from northeast Ohio corn field.

This Madison type projectile point is one of the first points used with a bow and arrow. It's made of upper mercer flint and is maybe around 1,000 years old. I found it in a corn field in Portage county Ohio during the summer of 2023. I hope you enjoy the video, GLHH!

A little collection of clips from 2023. Flint points and pieces found surface hunting in northeast Ohio. It was a good year and I wish I had captured my best finds of the year on video (I didn't). Stay tuned, 2024 is already shaping up to be a great year!

A small Beaver lodge in northeast Ohio had to adapt and grow rapidly to keep up with falling water levels.

T🎉😮😢❤🎉😮😢
What other trees are around that? I’ve had no luck where I am lots of pines everywhere and maples.. so hard to even find elms..
Seems like elms are still kind of a rarity anywhere because of the Dutch elm disease. The woods I look for have a lot of black cherry, tulip poplar, ash (also hard to find now). I don't really look around any other hardwood. Never pine, but have heard stories... Good luck! Sometimes it helps to look in just weird places. That scrub behind your workplace, the strip of woods next to Walmart or the golf course, wherever, lol! Some of my best places aren't really in the woods, at all.
Half the fun for me has always been trying to figure out where to look, congrats you succeed, keep on em😎😎😎
Thank you, sir! Artifact hunting is not easy around here... I've had to get creative.
They taste pretty good too
At $10.00 per pound that pays for more than a tank of fuel, sweet!
INR rupees 30000 kg 😮😮
Sold, brother! I dry almost everything I find, so I can send you a kg DRIED for 150k rupees (+shipping). Deal?? 😁
Nice finds Landon! I think we hunt some similar stomping grounds, maybe see you out there sometime 😊 Good luck to you for the rest of the season, man.
That'd be cool! I hunt odd hours and rarely ever see another person when I'm out there. I do piss off the occasional turkey hunter (on public land). They don't seem to like guys like me walking around looking for mushrooms and rocks. Thanks for watching, happy hunting!
Have you check this spot again this year2024 especially since so many people found early flushes..i found 31 this season mostly southeast ohio..curious how many total u got from this motherload and more curious if any are up around it now
I don't remember the exact number I picked here, something around 60-70 maybe? My sister and I visited this tree last weekend and found about a dozen yellows. It's been a good season, for the most part! GLHH
Brains 🧠
Mmmm, delicious brainy goodness 🤤
Pretty cool man
Badd ass find man
Thank you! The site is pretty bad ass, really. I've found a few nice things when the water is low.
Yeah great fine I haven't got to hunt in years I used to hunt tobacco field not many around like they used to be
Same here. A lot of the fields were developed and anything left is all no-till. Field finds are few and far between, especially compared to what they were 30 years ago!
Nice save👍
Thanks, man! Good luck on your next hunt. 🍀🤞🐇
Nice find
ty! stay tuned for more :)
Dude i got all sorts of fields out my way come check em out lol no one is doin this stuff out my way
If you know the farmers, I might be game. Where about?
Thx for watching and subscribing 👍
@@WhatLandonFinds ashtabula county . And yeah I know some of them, good folks .
What are you considering ne ohio boss ?
These were in Portage county.
@@WhatLandonFinds killer area . The blacks are just arriving here in my spots
When elms start dropping thier bark you won't find many if any.
I'd say that's true most of the time, especially with small-average age elms. I have found morels around huge elms for years after they lost their bark. Good luck this season!
Esto es algo absolutamente orgasmico micologicamente hablando son preciosas aqui les llamamos colmenillas por su similitud con las colmenas de las abejas enhorabuena un saludo desde España
Thanks for watching! I didn't know they hunted Morels in Spain, that's awesome 😎 Good luck to you!
Looks like a Ash tree
Hoping for that kind of thing in 2024!
I hope it happens for you!
I mean make one ?
If I had one to make a mold from, I would.
@@WhatLandonFinds I have a broken one, it's about 2.5 inches long and the flaking is awesome on it
Pretty cool 😎 Clovis ?
And right up under mayapples
While your at it, lol, nice!
Bc I definitely need another hobby! 😂
Add a dozen fresh Crappie to those Mushrooms that's what I call a delicious
thats what its all about right there
That's a fact!
That is insane! I’m in middle Georgia. I found 9 yesterday and found 12 more this morning. I marked and left them. Will be checking on them in a few days after the rain comes Friday and Saturday.
That's great! I just found my first of the season this week, it's a teeny tiny little baby. Good luck and thanks for watching!
Lucy guy 😂
Thanks! It was a good season :)
Thats insane ive never found them like that
It rarely happens, but keep your eyes out for huge dead elm trees and it just might!
WOWwowWOWwowWOWwow. That's all I have to say. Whoa, dude......WOW!!
IKR?! 🤣 '24 season is right around the corner, never know what's gonna happen. Thanks for watching!
Landen I am 64 old Timmerman and live in Ozarks I no there hear but hard to get in to the woods coul you give ne some help to get these to get them out of the back yard
Thanks for watching! I don't know anything about hunting in MO, but I know you either need to know someone who can take you to a spot, or you gotta put the miles on the boots and find one on your own. Took me many years to figure my area out! Get out there this spring, good luck!
What in the world?
😂 right? I was truly freaked out when I was mushroom hunting and found this. like, wtf?!
@@WhatLandonFinds So those metal circles went over the cement things?
@@snakedoctor5397 no, they stood upright between two of them.
Dang! You have yourself a hot spot for life and you will be able to pass it on someday!
I wish! Morels that grow around living trees is a different thing and those spots can come back every year for decades. But, this huge dead tree will only produce morels for 2-3 years. I'll check it this year and post a vid, if I remember!
The whole technology is based on the flake.
I am from adena ohio i am have been looking for morels for about 2 years now last year didnt do to good think where i am at was too dry or i miss the right time to forge for morels a 72 year old man who is a dear friend of mine got me mushroom crazy love the thill love to mushroom hunt
Finding 'em is always a great feeling, whether it's 1 or 100! True story about the day I shot this video: I had already been hunting for like 2 hours and had a full bag when I found the motherload in this video. I didn't know what to do because I didn't have another bag. I ended up taking off my shirt and using it as a sack to carry these beauties out. First time I've had to do that! Thanks for watching, good luck this year
Nice weather there😮
NE Ohio had some great weather last April! Let's hope for another great season in '24 🤞
it might be kind of crude but whoever made it had to start somewhere more than likely.
It could be "beginners" work. Could also have been made in a hurry. Or it could be one of the more recent points, when it seems a lot of the finer knapping skills/knowledge died off. We'll never know for sure, but it's almost as fun to guess as it is to find them! Thanks for watching 🙏
.Those types of points have a special beauty my friend. BLESSINGS.
Indeed! Every artifact tells a story about the past. Thanks for watching, friend!
.Wow of Cuarzo.
These are crystals of gypsum (or selenite). Much softer than quartz.
Any find is a good find 👊😎
Can't argue with that. 🙏 I joke that it was probably knapped by a one-armed, blind indian! And it's still far better than anything I can make with rocks... 😂
Nice finds, good luck on your future hunts 👊 😎
Thanks for watching! I found a killer this year, already. So that's probably it for me, unfortunately 😂 Good luck to you too! 🤘🔥
Nice video! Is that you singing?
Thank you! I've been dusting off some old Premiere skills. It's my band, I'm singing backup.
Nice! Hopefully 2024 is a great year for you! Blessings on your next outing
Thank you! 🤞 Let's just say it's already started off pretty good 👍
.Yes, my friend, it is something great to see how the beaver is adapting to the conditions of the lake. That's great, the bad thing is when they don't give the animals the opportunity to rebuild their habitat and they can destroy the species to the point of extinction. Greetings to my good friend.
Yummmm
Nice one 👊😎
✌️ thanks!
Atl-atl dart point. Nice find. How'd you even think to look there?!?!
Thanks! Here's a hint... if I find flint flakes at the top of a hill, I search the whole hillside.
looks like whitefish or white perch
