Same I love this
a talk about shock would be good. Send whatever topic you want to talk about honestly these podcasts are super, the entire channel is. keep it up guys. :]
When doing bvm do you do it while opa and npa are inside
Yes! The airway adjunct helps to keep the airway open for better compliance when using the BVM.
these lectures are so good, thank you!
Glad you like them!
@@IdahoMedicalAcademy Do y'all have any lectures up on chapter 11 airway management yet?
24:05 KORN
The first call I went on during my ride along was an 80 some year old man with CHF and his stomach was so swollen from the fluid build up. He was on oxygen and just a day or two before was awoken in the middle of the night because of it. He definitely should have gone with the crew that visited the night before. It got a little better after some albuterol and solumedrol treatment.
5:55 - don’t forget “Another One Bites the Dust” (which is my favorite to teach because of the strong beat and inability to really rush it, but not the most optimistic choice 🤣). For the country music fans - “Achy Breaky Heart” is great too.
Haha! Yes both very great options! Whatever works right!
The exit of blood at that speed in the tube leads to the breakage of the pellets and thus the results are incorrect
Tell me if I'm wrong? I was not too squeeze the butterfly because you won't see the flash?
That can definitely be one con to pinching the wings together as you poke. It is possible to adjust to see flash with this hold with practice. We teach multiple methods in our course. This instructor prefers to hold the wings because she feels it gives her more control of the needle. There are alternative ways to hold the butterfly set that will allow you to see flash better! We absolutely support using whatever method makes you feel most the comfortable in your venipuncture!
Respiration is not gas exchange
Respiration is the process of drawing in oxygen and expelling carbon dioxide. The primary purpose of respiration is the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide at the alveolar level (gas exchange).
@@NPhillips856 no respiration is the breakdown of glucose in cell to release energy
As stated on pg. 629 of Emergency Care and Transportation of the Sick and Injured 12th ED "The principal function of the lungs is respiration, which is the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide".
That is called cellular respiration, or cellular metabolism, which is different that what the video is addressing.
@@IdahoMedicalAcademy alright
Could get closer to the set up so we could see the setup.....her face is not needed in the shot.
hello, I thought the order was Blood Cluture Light Blue Red Gold/Tiger stripe Light Green Dark Green Pink Lavender Gray Royal Blue
Yes! Thank you for your comment! It is true that the order of draw for the different green tubes should be Light green(PST), Dark Green (Lithium Hep), then Dark Green (Sodium Hep). The Order of draw sheet being used in the video had the dark green tube listed first and it was overlooked. Lavender and Pink have the same additive (EDTA) They can be drawn in either order. It was listed in the Phlebotomy Essentials book as Lavender then pink, that is why it is that way in the video. The main reason for the color difference is used to differentiate samples being sent to hematology vs blood bank. Sorry for the confusion here!
One question even though she had epi prescription would you need to call medical director before administering? Great video and great job to the student
That will be dependent on your local protocols when in the field. The expectation for our students is to treat their medications as if they have standing orders and do not need a direct medical control order to administer.
Excellent video!!! Great job guys.
Thanks for watching!!
What about the type used when collecting blood for donation. I remember the type used on me then was like a hose😂
They are definitely bigger! Donation needles are typically a 16 or 17 gauge needle in order to allow a larger volume of blood or plasma to be taken/returned in a reasonable amount of time.
Best instructor.
This instructor is so great! His lectures are always really engaging. Much appreciate the energy he brings to the lessons as well as the classroom participation, it’s really helping me learn in my self paced course.
Thanks for the comment!!
Thank you very much. Didn't know about putting the time 👍👍
Happy to help!
Hearing you guys discuss patient assessment and your personal stories would be awesome
amazing video.. Currently in school and this had alot of great info!! thank you!!
So glad it was helpful!
❤
I agree I love these!! I’m not going to say where but I’m currently going through my emt course and I have enjoyed watching these in addition to our lectures for additional information, stories ect..
Thanks for such a nice comment! We are so glad they are helping you in your education journey!
Do they give testing Accomodations? I have a missing eye and some right side peripheral vision loss after being shot. Thanks.
That's a great question, but unfortunately we don't have an answer for you on that one. You will need to contact the NREMT directly to see what accommodations they allow.
Love the videos guys, thanks for making them public. Im starting EMT-B at CWI next month and these videos are great for prep to build a frame work before i start classes.
Good luck in your class and great job getting an early start with some learning materials!
Thank you for these podcasts. It's really helpful to have some looser more conversational access to this info outside the course material. Thanks for putting this out!
Great to hear!
Great video!
I'm really wanna try in that dummy hand..that practice is absolutely impressive and helpful and understandable
Thank you
You’re thinking of Vitruvian Man by Leonardo Davinci but I still smelled what you were steppin in.
Thank you! Your videos are very helpful
Can we please get one for every chapter. These lectures are so helpful…
Hello! We are working on getting out videos for most chapters! Thanks!
I’m currently in emt class glad I found this
That's awesome to hear we are so glad we can be a good learning tool!
Funny to hear Roger talking about lactic acid with running and he would cramp up and "die" if he tried to run a marathon right now because I am literally on my treadmill right now; training for a marathon and studying. lol I appreciate having these videos as additional learning tools.
Thanks for the comment! We are always so happy to know they are helping, and goof luck with your marathon!!
This video has helped me so much, Thank yall so much for posting this! I wish my instructor was this good!
Our pleasure! Thanks for the comment!
Excellent video.
Thank you so much!!
Glad it helped!
Excellent lecture! It’s EXTREMELY helpful when the instructor gets the class involved like this. It really helps me in my home course, especially when the class asks a question I have. If it was possible to have class interaction in all of the videos, it would be a huge improvement for the lectures that currently don’t have any class involvement. I hope you consider doing this for future videos. Thanks!
You're very welcome! Thank you for all your comments and feedback we love to see it!
There are so many blue tubes. And I'd never seen the pink one before
Yes! Lots of different tubes!
I like this guy he's awesome
He's the best!
Starting medic school next week! This was a great listen!
That's awesome to hear! Good luck in medic school!
That's an interesting way to do a venipuncture! Let me ask this, why do you remove the tourniquet the first time before sanitizing?
Hi! Thanks for the comment! Removing the tourniquet before sanitizing allows time for the phlebotomist to gather supplies suitable for the vein selected. In the video we reapplied the tourniquet, sterilized the site, then performed the venipuncture. This order in procedure allows for maximum sterility when the initial venipuncture is performed, and allows us to remove the tourniquet within 1 minute without feeling rushed:)
You have to remove the tourniquet by one minute or you have a much greater risk of your sample becoming hemolyzed, which, in lab lingo, means your sample is useless. You remove it the first time so that you can gather your stuff for as long as you want and the sample's integrity is never compromised. Some people do leave it on if they're just about ready and if you can make it work in time then you're golden. It's just that the longer that tourniquet is on, the greater the chance that your sample is going to hemolyze and become absolutely useless for the lab.
Hello? Kindly when you have online training please consider me, I would like to train with you. Thank you.
Hi! We do currently have online training and you can find all the information you need to sign up at idahomedicalacademy.com!
When you are going to shift the patient in ambulance after the head and toe examination
We will begin to prepare for transport right after the primary assessment (ABC's) in a high priority patient (load and go). In a low priority patient we can wait until after the head to toe is completed (stay and play). When we actually move to the ambulance can depend on a number of factors such as number or personnel, need for c-spine immobilization, etc. So in real life the move to the ambulance may be a bit later than when patient priority is established.
This is informational thank you!
So glad it was helpful!
