    Absolutely wonderful!! just started learning about area text tool today. I am trying to create a calendar which this video does (ua-cam.com/video/_VT4rhPpyCw/v-deo.html ), but theres no verbal instructions when it uses the area text tool. Which is how i found you because I never heard of it before and trying to figure out what it was so I could understand the settings he was adjusting. Your video was awesome. Super informative! If only you had a calendar sample I could punch out my homework. Thanks though you gave me some good ideas on how to use this in the future.

    Sir, I'm really confused - when I try to learn design principles, I understand what they are and how they work. But when I'm creating my own design, I'm unsure how to implement these principles and which one to use when. Cloud you please make a video how to implement all these principles Sir please help

    • @TheDesignSmith
      @TheDesignSmith 15 днів тому

      Practice is key! The more you design, the more you'll instinctively understand what principles to use. I made a video on Design Fundamentals a while ago here: ua-cam.com/video/DuYbSu1AFPU/v-deo.htmlsi=xL1Koag7mm3-BHz9 I can certainly make a video on how to implement these into your designs. That's a great idea! Just keep practicing and check out the rest of my videos, along with other great designers like Will Paterson, Jesse Nyberg and Aaron Draplin. You'll get better, I know it!

    I would recommend Knock At The Cabin, actually just watched it twice while rented off YT. Also, my thoughts somewhat defending Night's self-insert in LITW: the character he plays is a writer who will be a CATALYST for great change in the world via his works inspiring the real Hero. Story is a CATALYST for his character having the inspiration to write the book. I think it's not entirely inappropriate that he played the writer character, as he does write/direct these visual projects that have themes and messages in them that could plant the seeds in someone who my be a catalyst for great change in and of themselves. I think Night was just was being meta while trying to make a point that everyone has a purpose and can affect the world, even if by proxy. I've always liked this movie, and recently revisited it. Glad to see someone being vocal about what they like about it and why it works for them. Thanks for the video.

    • @TheDesignSmith
      @TheDesignSmith 18 днів тому

      Excellent point about his character being a catalyst for change! I never saw it as self aggrandizement at all. I believe that accusation comes from the jealousy of others. I will always love this movie. Knock at the Cabin was really fun. It was my favorite of his since The Visit. I saw Trap and liked it until the third act. I thought it was going in a logical direction and it ended up going in a totally different direction, and not in a good way lol.

    • @aPassionateFruit
      @aPassionateFruit 18 днів тому

      @ Trap was a total trip, just saw it yesterday-I've been on a mission to watch through all of Night's directorial works now that I'm older. I agree the third act went off the rails, but it was still a fun ride through and through for me. I love seeing healthy father-daughter dynamics, so I was entirely thrown by the early reveal about what's really going on, and I liked that they kept the ending open instead of making it neat and tidy (though the need for suspension of disbelief at that point was a bit hefty). Here's hoping his next project is another good time. 🍻

    I love this movie as well. I think i was in middle school when this movie came out. I didn't know who m night was, so I didn't understand "his art" was going to change the world. Also the movie critic being obnoxious and pretentious, I understand why critics didn't like the movie. What I liked about the film is that it's a modern day fair tale in the city. A lot of fantasy film tend to be a period piece or out in the woods somewhere remote. I like the fact that a bunch of ADULTS were in on the fantasy. It wasn't a group of 5 kids and maybe one grownup in on the secret. I also like that it wasn't a all white cast with a token person of color.

    • @TheDesignSmith
      @TheDesignSmith 25 днів тому

    What if the shape is not a full square.? And need to be shape a vector smart object so i can edit the vector and it changes the wrap. ( like in mockup file where it says “change design here.?” )

    • @TheDesignSmith
      @TheDesignSmith Місяць тому

      In that case, you would handle it the same way I did at 1:56. First, create your object (whatever shape you'd like) and then convert it to a VSO. If you're wanting to make an editable document by using smart objects, you'll want to finalize the size of your document before creating the element, THEN make your VSO. Hope this helps!

    • @domdc
      @domdc Місяць тому

      @ Thanks a lot for the reply.! i think i understand and that is what i ended up doing. It works well, i can change my design in the vso and it changes in all the places that i need, BUT i need to go manually in each individual smart object and manually load and save it. No matter if i try to load all “smart object” or close and reload the file, i still need to upload manually all the different parts. So next step is to figure out how to make them load on themselves like my other mockups are made.! Im a huge fan of illustrator and it has no secret for me but after all those years it gets me that i feel so lost in photoshop when everyone around me try to tell me they are the same hehe

    • @TheDesignSmith
      @TheDesignSmith Місяць тому

      @@domdc Haha they're definitely not the same! The same features work different in each program, because one is raster and the other vector. If you're trying to create one instance of a VSO and then have that duplicated throughout the design, I would recommend creating it, and then duplicating THAT VSO, rather than creating another one. That should update them all and then you won't have to do each individually. Good luck and let me know if I can help with anything else!
