Jeep and Rivian Overlanding Washington BDR Section 3
Joined by our friends with a Rivian R1T, we took our Jeep Wrangler to the well-known Washington BDR (WABDR) Section 3. A moderate challenge in this area is the frequent washouts, which can make the trail a bit rugged. This video provides a comprehensive view of the diverse terrain.

Good ole rivian.
Beautiful we went out too to see mountains this summer as well.
Nice!
I’ll go with the jeep. Nice video. 😊
A Grand Cherokee would have been a better comparison with the Rivian. The Wrangler is in a higher class.
which place is this ?
Qingdao! 😁
Is the R1T a dual motor performance or dual motor standard? And can you lock the diffs? Thanks
They're the same offroad. There's no diff lock, but it does brake torque vectoring.
Rivians don't have a differential.
@@Japplesnap One motor sends power to each side. The dual motor Lightning has a physical rear locker. It doesn't seem like a hard thing to do
@@metal_horses568 I meant to say lockers, not differentials. Rivian decided to use traction based control on each axle.
Dream 🥰🍃
Jeep is coming out with a Gladiator PHEV that as far as I know will be the first plug in hybrid pickup if it beats out the Ram charger. Unfortunately only has 21 miles of range like the Jeep 4xE, so I think they should have put a larger battery in it. I have a Rav4 Prime and love it. I’d be tempted by a PHEV pickup over a Rivian if it was more efficient. I don’t need all the off road capability.
Great video, guys! Looks like you had an amazing weekend with perfect weather. And the Aurora!! Beautiful pics and video 🤩
Thank you Coran!
really nice video... thanks by share...
Jeep owner: Weeee! Rivian owner: Oh God, please don’t let me scratch my precious!
I’m sure not every Jeep/Rivian owner is like that. 🙂
@@WiltonAdventure I'm not and know several Rivian owners who take their R1s on lots of trails without worry.
I mean going off the blue stickers on the wheel from the factory this seems to be a brand new truck so I would think they are going to be a bit cautious on their brand new truck lol
He's driving that Rivian SUPER carefully. I get it, it's expensive, but that thing is way more capable than you would think.
Looks fun!
The video and the views are very nice. Great trail. Btw The wheel does not go back because of not having lockers. Indeed, they are not even connected. There is no differential. The reason why it turn back is when the truck is going down as mean of hill decent control it turns the wheel back with light force to control speed, then when a wheel is lifted you can see what the computer is doing, yet it is doing that constantly, also helping with not using the brakes as much, and at the same time it is stil regening energy. It is actually very clever engineering. Correction: that maybe be the dual motor which it would have a differential, yet the wheels turning back are still a system for both models, quad and dual motor.
Silver brake calipers = a dual motor variant. That is a Dual Motor R1T. I also think it is the Dual Motor Performance which would have more off-road drive modes than the regular Dual Motor.
@stevelabree497 oh ok. I was not sure. So I guess the quad motor won't do that.
We had lots of fun and it was a great adventure. Hopefully we will it again soon.
Definitely! Summer is coming!
Hey, thats me with the gladiator! 😂 Awesome video
So funny and cool that you found the video! It was nice to talk to you!
Was this filmed sometime back in January? I think that was us in the Jeep at the 13:54 timestamp mark.
It was just a week ago. Looks like we found them in another comment. 😂
Hahaha that’s my friend, turns out he went last week
Oh nice! We could all have a run together sometime.
Great video! Awesome camera work, Will! Cool seeing a Rivian on that trail!!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed! It was fun, or friends in the Rivian had a good time as well, though there were certainly a couple times that made them nervous, as expected.
Wow long time since I have been in there. I used to live in Squamish and did a couple trips in there in the 80's
Nice, time to visit it again!
Nice film! Beautiful footage of the falls!! It’s funny how much steeper that rock seemed in the driver’s seat 😮😂
Thanks Coran for creating that iconic scene! Awesome job! 😎
Audio is a bit quiet - turn on subtitle.
What size tire are you running

Like all off road videos I myself could do without the annoying background music, I would prefer to listen to the jeeps doing their thing. Enjoyed the video after I turned the sound off though.
We typically only do background music while driving, not when out of jeep recording. YT gets rich about my music on stereo in jeep, copyright issues, lol. Glad you enjoy the video
take a picture of the poor flex?
We have fun, that's the main point.
Have to ask...what are the wheels on the 2 door Willy's hardtop? Fun outing, enjoyed the video.
I'll ask the owner. Glad you liked the video
The wheels are Fuel Militia D725 in bronze with Mickey Thompson M/T 35s 🙂
Ok, thanks!@@BigBlueVentures
Great to see Cricket on three wheels from that angle, and how much the back tire came up when the front dropped… lol Awesome, Tony. Thanks for a great day out snow wheeling!
It was a fun time, got a little of everything that trip. Thanks for inviting me.
Great footage, music, and editing! ❤
Incredible
Nice video. Seemed pretty remote with some good scenery. There were some offshoots that definitely looked like they’d be fun 😊✌️
It was south of Leavenworth Wa, if I had more time I would have checked out the offshoots, they did look inviting. Good reason to go back. Thanks for the comment 😀
Well done! Super creepy 👻
Great footage! The night crawl up the switchbacks! The Jeeps all flexing in the cave!! The dark tunnels while exploring the mine! ✌️
Thank you! It was fun
Nice to meet you today!!
Great to meet you too, I hope you had a fun hike!
@@WiltonAdventure it was awesome! Same to you 👣
Definitely
You can lie to campfire with a biscuit?
Not a biscuit LOL. It’s explained in the long video.
What a lovely day trip! 😎
Thanks Mike! It was indeed lovely 😃
