Protecting the Cape Parrot
Переглядів 2196 місяців тому

Cape Parrots nest in existing tree hollows in old Yellowwood trees - South Africa’s national tree - and rely on the fruit of these trees for nutrition and survival. Sadly, habitat degradation caused mainly by historical logging practi...

Bird Habitats!

Wild Bird Trust: Camouflage!
Переглядів 4332 роки тому
Birds make use of plumage colouration and behaviour to conceal themselves from potential predators or prey, this is known as camouflage. In some species, plumage colour will match the surrounding environment, while patterns such as countershading reduce the shadow on the bird's underside making it less visible. #wildbird #BirdYourWorld #Birding #Camouflage
Birds in Flowers!
Переглядів 1972 роки тому
The wonderful colours often observed when birds interact with flowers have inspired many works of art; from a painting style in Chinese history based entirely on this theme, to modern day bird photography. Often the relationship between birds and flowers is mutualistic; birds obtain nesting material and food, and flowering plants are pollinated. Some bird species such as hummingbirds have co-ev...

Actually the spot-billed duck, northern shoveler, bar-headed goose, graylag goose, american woodcock, great creasted grebe, and rock dove are not gamebirds, a gamebird is any bird that belongs to the order Galliformes, interestingly enough gamebirds are actually the same thing as landfowl, ducks and geese are waterfowl, a waterfowl is any member of the order Anseriformes, woodcocks are shorebirds, a shorebird is any member of the order Charadriiformes, grebes and doves respectively belong to the orders Podicipediformes and Columbiformes.
