Originally recorded by the Tokens (the Melba group) as a demo. I guess the lyrics were too provocative for the mid-fifties.

Neil Sedaka doesn't get nearly the love he's due as a songwriter
Elt gave a dollop of pizzazz to this Neil song! Those were the days...funky poppy and dang good
I m searching for a German Cover, can t find it
🎉
Magnificus!!!
Youre witnessing genius here, folks. There's not a comeback in the world for Sedaka. One of the greatest American contemporary songwriters of the 20th century. Do run do run do do dit dit run run.
You know how people often go OTT with their comments and gush, well with this song I will be partly guilty. However, defending myself, this song is remarkably beautiful. I loved in when I was ten years old. My stepfather bought it for my mother who he adored. Sadly what seem unbreakable broke after many years. So this song hurts too because the lyrics of loyalty and determination failed. Like all families we had ups and downs but I will always remember my stepfather, for all his faults, as being someone who truly loved my mother and then she left. I appreciate you Laurie for the remainder of my days in this world.
確かに、Zガンダムだー!
Z刻を超えて、この曲に行き着きました😊

This makes me wanna have a pure time 🎉.
i wonder if neil ever expected his song to be remixed into the opening for a show about the horrors of war and giant mecha
It's so interesting that this song Sedaka obviously made completely. And then got screwed out of the release. Ironically, it may be his best recording and the only one he didn't have a hand in writing!
fantastic version of a wonderful song.
Please tell me I'm not the only one who thinks this song sounds very similar to Supertramp. For years I was wrong.
This was the start of Neil's Hungry Years phase, when his bad mistake cost him his popularity, career & his struggle to have his songs heard and recorded; that is until 1974* associariung with Elton John. He had to rely on Don Kirshner for a revival, which resulted in his "Solitaire" LP, issued on Kirshner's own self-named label. Neil got revived by The Monkees & The Captain and Tennille.
What a song. I'm crying. Takes me back to happier times.
one of my favorite singers
play this at 1.25x and you will see Fa running in front you
This sound they used Genes track and put Neil’s vocals over it
hi maam were and life must go on
Poignant memories of days of youth
One of the most beautyful songs
Actually tearing up listening to this. It’s about sharing a brief moment on earth with another living thing. Breathing, listening to the rain, kissing. Wow… and what a beautifully-structured song. Perfection!
Boy if this fella didn't tell the truth here 😅
Colin Quinn brought me here
Una cancion muy hermosa
How a Realist Rebuilt The Kingdom.
It is peculiar that you can't find it on Spotify
This one’s for Amy ❤
BEAUTIFUL!
He was so good. This beautiful song, at a time the old rules were being swept aside. One of the best choruses, back when that heavenly harmonies sound added so much to music
I also heard this on THAT 70S SHOW Kitty and Eric. Took me right back to the 70s and where I was at that time.
Taylor swift version of this song is garbage. Original version is great!
IMO this is such a strong album and yet Neil very rarely mentions any of the songs from it.

Neil Sedaka got his second wind as a successful commercial singer/songwriter in the mid 1970 and it was truly deserved! Hes up there with Gilbert OSullivan and Elton John!
Eric and kitty got me here
I can’t find this anywhere. Help?
Elton John!!!
Hear me talkin’ now.
That's crazy ,, kitty foreman is why I came. Had no idea this is who sang this legendary song. Huh 🤔
Ironically, this song was indeed supposed to be the last song co-written by Neil Sedaka & Howard Greenfield but their another last song "Love Will Keep Us Together" become their biggest hit when recorded by the Captain & Tennille in 1975; so Sedaka & Greenfield resumed songwriting partnership in 1970s which culminated in their last hit, "Should've Never Let You Go". Interesting how fate twist and turn in real life.
