    I heard what started the Fraser River gold rush was trade between two men and a native fellow in fort Kamloops, New Caledonia sometime around 1850.. Men went by the names of James Houston, Ferdinand Boulanger-aka Peter Baker, and an unnamed native man. Danold Mclean chief factor for the HBC in fort Kamloops sent word, and gold, to governor Sir James Douglas after learning of the discovery and trade between the men. Gold was later shipped to SF for smelting and refining. Archie your waist coat/vest is missing a button! Great vid, Happy trails out there all!

    Fucking traitors! Americans could have made BC, Alberta and Yukon part of the US but the traitor Canadians on the east coast let the British military slip in and claim it for Canada and the American miners flooding in allowed it!

    Gold rushes are always fun history lessons. The people who consistently made the most money were the outfitter stores, saloons, hustling women , scammers. Like most other booms, the people who scored big and made money blew through it and ended up with nothing. Books on the Frasier gold rush are available in some stores along the Frasier canyon. Good video.

    My grandfather, Gord Andry, landed on Juno beach on D-Day. He was only 16 when he enlisted and thankfully survived the war and passed away at the age of 91. His brother, Sergeant Frank Joseph Andry was not so lucky, being killed in action in Italy in December, 1944. He was 25 years old. I thank God for the bravery and sacrifice of all soldiers. God bless our boys.

    • @kevin_1230

      The British Empire was, I say ''was'' composed of the dominions of which Canada was, colonies which Canada had not been for a long time, protectorates, mandates, and other territories ruled or administered by the United Kingdom and its predecessor states. The statute of Westminster Passed on 11 December 1931, the act, either immediately or upon ratification, effectively both established the legislative independence of the self-governing Dominions of the British Empire from the United Kingdom in other words it affirmed Canadian autonomy and recognized the virtual independence of the dominions that, for all intents and purposes, had existed in principle since World War I and the Treaty of Versailles that followed. With this Canada had the full legal right and freedom to stay out of WW2 if we wanted to. Canada became Fully ''Independent'' in 1982 with the amending of the 1867 Constitution act to remove the authority of the British to amend our constitution. So, get your kicks elsewhere. Much to get kicks out of down south in the Banana Republic.

      @@kevin_1230 ,. There have been steps taken over the last 100 years to grant complete independence to the British colonies. But despite the propaganda and fancy words, they are still not completely Independent. It wasn't until In 1982, that Canada was allowed to adopt their own constitution. But, it's still part of the British Commonwealth-a constitutional monarchy that accepts the British monarch as its own. Elizabeth II is Queen of Canada. Queen Elizabeth, the British monarch is still the Head of State of Canada, and Australia. They are wards of the Crown, and are not completely Independent. If England calls the Commonwealth are required to supply military troops. Your words were pretty but they dont mean squat.

      @@unitedwestand5100 Canada has complete sovereignty as an independent country, responsible for it's own affairs and it's own external decisions. The Queen's role as monarch of Canada is separate from her role as the British monarch or the monarch of any of the other Commonwealth realms. The rights or privileges and administration of a colony does not apply. To say that Canada is not a real country is not only ignorant it is stupid. Not to mention offensive to people who know better.

    • @unitedwestand5100
      @unitedwestand5100 3 роки тому

      @@kevin_1230 ,. Keep telling yourself that. Lol The Head of State in Canada is the English Monarch. The UK is like the mafia. Once you're in, you cant leave without a fight. Canada didnt even have it's own constitution until 1982. In the US, every state has it's own constitution too. But, their head of State is the President of the Republic. At least our Republic is not the Queen of England. We are a sovereign country. We kicked England and their monarch out of our country. Canada is an English Lackey.

      @@unitedwestand5100 Why are Americans so disrespectful. You are just proving your ignorance. There is more than one way to independence. The way of traitors and the way of Honorable and peaceful men. We earned it. Your statement is just nonsense. The first semblance of a constitution for Canada was the Royal Proclamation of 1763 and Before the 1982 Act came into effect, the British North America Act, 1867 (now known as the Constitution Act, 1867) had been the supreme law of Canada. You don't know our history and yet you preach it to me. Maybe to you we are a lackey. To honorable men we are Loyal while maintaining own independent nature. America is just a divided republic that can't even govern itself effectively that continually meddles in others business and acts superior in light of evidence to the contrary.

In actuality, none the beaches were linked were several days, especially the two American beaches, and the Canadian and British beach on the Canadian left flank! @45:50 is stated a flat out lie. One told by Montgomery. He was chastised later for it, but I see it made into this documentary as propaganda. History records it thus, In the aftermath, Montgomery tried to redefine Goodwood’s aims. He said that it had always been about distracting the Germans from Cobra and so was a success. But the heavy casualties and failed objectives told a different tale. Goodwood would remain a subject of controversy for years to come. It was not until after the success of Cobra that Montgomery was able to capture Caen and move on to Falaise. In fact the Falaise gap was never closed because Montgomery failed to meet his ogjectives. Those facts were in no way the fault of the brave Canadians Montgomery abused as cannon fodder for his political aspirations. Montgomery was an incompetent and weak leader.

All of Europe knows what the Canadians did in both world wars and that’s good enough for me. We, as a nation, don’t beat our chests when we do something good for someone else. It’s what we try and do everyday.

    It wasn't to liberate europe. It was to defeat Germany who wewre declared war on by the british empire and france because of invading Poland. if this is not moral reason enough then why invent the false impression of germany desiring to rule europe? i'm not persuaded it was worth risking our Canadian lives for poland or to help the British. It must only be to save life. i don't see my life as secondary to pOlish independence. yet still our canadians fought well, smart, and morally.
