Every welder knows this technique. I'm not a professional welder but have gap welded thousands of times. And what's with the spot welding. Welding and sticking two pieces together are two different things. What a joke.

Welding over slag inclusions is a no no. Grind it out and start again.

This is spitting not welding. Run continously on thicker tube than let it cool, after that run weld on that previus weld melting both previous weld and this thinner tube, keep in mind your rod has to be more on thicker part.

If your using a DC plant why don't you TIG weld it instead. You'll get far better penetration. Is that not what a good weld is all about.

I’m not a welder but I work on steel boats on the ocean in Alaska. I’ve never seen a welder do this ever and that would draw confusion watching a welder try to do that wether it fab or repair. I’m sure if a welder were to do that in sny instance we would need him to weld he’d be fired on the spot.
