GIBSON Les Paul Tribute - A REAL Les Paul?
Переглядів 2,9 тис.9 місяців тому
The most affordable Gibson Les Paul. In this Video we want to find out, if it is a real Les Paul, how it sounds and what the specs are.
Eastman SB59/v - it's incredible!
Переглядів 5369 місяців тому
The handcrafted guitar has fantastic specs, but is priced well below the world-famous original from the big G. Have you never heard or played an Eastman SB59v? In the video you get an impression of the guitar. #eastmanguitars #geardemo #guitarist
Rebuild of a Gibson Les Paul Deluxe. Was it worth it?
Переглядів 1,5 тис.9 місяців тому
I got a 2018 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe and decided to improve the parts with the best possible parts available. - polished the matt top and headstock - new electricity with CTS 500K Pots, 50s wiring and paper in oil capacitors - Lightwight Aluminium Tailpiece - new ABR-1 Style bridge with unplated brass saddles - changed the bride bushings and studs - Kluson Vintage tuner - aged the nickel hardwar...
I appreciated the blind test format. It allowed me to formulate my own opinion without bias. Thanks!
Great video. Just what i need to end the dilema. Great idea about the blind test. I just agree 100% whit you toughts. Great tone by the way.
i don't know what you are looking for but swapping the first preamp tube is also a good way to revoice the amp and change the point of breakup if you want. the best tubes are vintage rca,ge and mullards. a ge at v1 will clean the amp, lower the midrange great for humbuckers or p90's ,rca's are ideal for american crunch with more midrange, and mullards are the sweetest for distortion ,enjoy!
I put a texas heat in my tweed blues junior. Took a lot of the shrillness out of it. Gig it every weekend.
I like them all. I think I prefer the Jensen on this recording mostly for the high, the brightness. One thing I saw is that the cup in the center does much of the high frequencies, chaging just the cap for a mesh one can remove the harshness from a speaker as is done in the new vintage-30. Thanks for the video, great sound great playing!
Emi, what a woman tone at the end. But at the beginning of the test it was blunt.
Stay away from the reissues. Normally Fender special designs are decent, but the junk they put in reissue amps is insulting for how much they cost. Figure in the cost an upgraded speaker buying Fender reissues IMO. The C10r being the worst.
Nice
I liked a and b best what ones were they?
A: V30 and B: Jensen
The Jensen needs a fairly long break in, it improves a lot in smoothness with time and use, it needs a very long break in to break in and sound great, I'm delighted with mine.
I liked B. The Jensen. But knowing myself, If I was in the room (and not listening to a recording) I would probably prefer the eminence.
I really like the binding job you have done, that’s the thing that put me off tributes etc, but if I can do what you did I might save some money and do the same. I notice you put binding on the neck too?..would love to know more details and see more close pics of it. A tutorial vid would be a good one for views too , your the only guy I have seen actually do the neck as well as the body Subbed😊
My Blues Jr. IV is the black one -- comes with a Celestion A-Type, not the Jensen. I found the Jensen harsh and tinny especially when overdriven. I liked the Celestion Vintage 30 best but maybe that's because I am used to the (cheaper) Celestion A-Type! Also liked the Cannabis Rex.
Great work! how did you do the binding?
Thank you! The binding is made of cream colored vinyl. I cutted it to 5 mm (?) and applied it step by step.
The order that I liked. 1) V30 2) Eminence 3) Jensen. (It was fine at clean, but was unpleasant as the gain increased.)
My exact conclusion. Wish I knew what I was doing when I bought one with a Jensen. Lol
Very good video bro 👏 i have an eminence red white and blues speaker and i love the way it pairs with the blues Junior
Thank you! ✌ I recently played the red white blues speaker. great sound!
The tribute is a real Les Paul. The only difference is the growl isn’t as low. Say what you want, nothing growls like a Les Paul. If you don’t understand that, don’t own one.
Do you have a link, or a more specific comment on what product you used for the binding on the guitar?
Hi, I am not 100% sure, but I think it was Oracal 751C Colour 018 "hell elfenbein". It is a light cream colour. But: If you want to remove it later, it may react with the nitro paint of the guitar.
The vintage 30 really stands out, very forward sound, not boxy, the cannabis is too muddy, I have had the same experience you have had with the Jensen, the Jensen C2N tends to get raspy when driving it with overdrive but they have a particular sound and like you said you need to work with it and coax out the sound you want.
Thank you for your comment! 100% agree to it. Meanwhile I really love the Jensen sound. I got a Vemuram Jan Ray Overdrive and it is perfect to create the crunchy sound, I was looking for.
I'm sure whatever the collectors say about these, they're buying them up. They'll be rare soon.
Love it
Any Epiphone or Gibson is a real Les Paul where do you content creators come up with such ridiculous BS titles? Many are getting tired of it
Thank you for your comment. I can understand you, but I've actually heard this opinion about the tribute several times, even here in the comments. Even though for me it's definitely a real Les Paul, from my sight there's nothing wrong with asking this question. Like you, my answer is a clear yes.
Super geil man. Wirklich gelungen!
..my advice is to buy a Fender guitar.
Gibson Les Paul😍❤❤❤😍 A small percentage of people say unreal, usually because they don't know everything about Les Pauls. I owned the Tribute until recently and sold it for $300 more than I bought it for because I needed money. A Honeyburst Tribute sounds great and looks absolutely beautiful. There's a lot of magic about it. The fact that it's no longer produced increases its value with each passing year. I once saw an old Tribute that had been used a lot by its owner... this guitar looked exactly like one of the $100,000 bursts!
I almost sold my blues junior, thanks.
Id say the celestion is the best because its in between and you can eq to get to either other speaker kinda. I like type a celestian though in a blues jr
First thing I did when I got Blues Junior was change the speaker to an Eminence Cannabis Rex .....
It’s crazy to me that people ask if speakers make a difference in tone/sound…do pickups!?
what's your amp settings? sounds great!
Thank you! For the Video I also used my pedal board with Cloudburst Reverb and Boss Blues Driver to add a little gain. Amp settings: Vol. 2,2 / Bass: 6,5 / Mid: 2,5 / Treb: 7,5 / Master: 8,5 / Reverb: 0 / no mid boost. Without Pedalboard I would change Volume to 8,5 and Master to about 2,2 for a nice crunchy clean sound.
It has a maple neck-which was to save cost. So, no it’s not a real Les Paul.
maybe it was used to save money, but the maple has been used from time to time since the 70s, e.g. at customs. It has a brighter tone, which is what some people like on a rock guitar. Also not every tribute has a maple neck, mine does not.
@@maik_on_guitar The fact the only guitar in their line up that has a maple neck, so happens to be their low budget entry level Gibson says it’s to say cost at the expense of the consumer. As for this “brighter sounding” argument, isn’t it funny that basically no well known Les Paul player has ever bought into that argument? Fact is: it’s excuses like that that allow Gibson to throw maple necks of guitars, and people will manufacture an excuse for it.
@@automatoncollectives7237 I don't question that it is the cheaper entry-level model and of course it lacks many expensive features such as bindings, pearl logo in the headstock, etc. and also possible that it is used because it is cheaper to produce the guitar with a maple neck. I'm just saying that there have always been maple necks on Les Pauls and for me that is not a criterion as to whether it is a real Les Paul or not. But it's okay if it's a crucial point for you. ✌
Rubbish. Hardly a new thing to have a maple neck on a Les Paul. You saying that Les Paul Customs aren't real?
Just a side thought. The neck is thick as well. Well on my 21. Maple is sturdier/stronger. The resonance unplugged in this vid is just as mine. It sounds great!! I had the boards taken out and rewired with shielding.
In the movie what was in the case?
Someone is trying their best to cheer me up ,just need a hug and i will be good✌️
Nice!
yeah we happy
Out of all 3 speakers My favorite was the B, The Jensen, I also liked A, the Celestion, I think C was a no for me after the second test. They all did good in overdrive But A and B were better all around speakers and to me the clean sound is the most important. Great video and nice playing. Celestion held right in there but I noticed did not have the volume as the Jensen. I am glad I did not have to make the choice .
Thank you for your comment! I totally agree 100% on all you wrote. I am also happy that you liked the video! ✌
@@maik_on_guitar I have a Blues JR With Jensen and would not change it. I do not know the version but it's about 3 years old.
@@garypannone7755 me too, love my Jensen especially clean. Since 2018 the Blues Junior 4 is available, so it should be the same model that I have.
Great playing
Thank you, I am working on it :-)
Good video thanks
Thank you!
Brilliant. Actually brilliant. 😊
thank you 🙂
I have this amp, and I love it. Whilst watching, I though B was going to be the Vintage 30, as I assumed it would sound the best so quite pleased to know I have the speaker I like in my amp.
the best possible result from your point of view!! 😀👍
I have a Greenback that came in mine, and it definitely sounds very different than a Blues Jr. with a Jensen.
Grennback is on my testing list for the future
Sound good 👍 😮
Just stopped in to answer the question posed by the thumbnail: Yes. Speakers are what matters most in any guitar signal chain.
Thank you, totally agree!
Cannabis rex sounds best.
thank you for your comment!
@Maikonguitar VERY NICE!!!!!! This just made my evening/night.
Hi, glad to hear that, thank you very much! :-)
Great Comparison, I enjoyed the format you've used. Another thing about speakers is their efficiency rating/volume. I've an old Marshall I was running with a pair of Vintage 30s, it was just to loud for what I was doing. I switched to a pair of classic Greenbacks (which are less efficient) and the volume dropped by almost half. Check the speaker's measured sensitivity, the Vintage 30s are rated at is 100 dB. The Greenback speakers measure only 98 dB of sensitivity (a significant reduction in sound pressure level). Just my $.02 Cents, you can really customize an amplifier for specific needs/uses by changing speakers.
Hi, I am glad that you like the video! And I agree, there are much more aspects like efficiency of a speaker, that can make the difference. ✌
Nice ‘68 RI Goldtop 👍
Yes, it‘s a great guitar! ✌
@@maik_on_guitar I'll bet the builder back in 1968 never imagined their lack of oversite would create such a desirable Les Paul!
Yep. I have a Gibson Les Paul Standard 60s and a Fender BJ IV. Perfect combination. I actually like the BJ IV better than my Twin Reverb.
I can understand that! For me it is also the best combination
Only a good player understands how effective a blues junior can be. Good guitar straight in with a little Reverb and your in business. Enjoy that beautiful gold top sir.
Thank you for the nice comment! Yes, less is more sometimes. 😊
Gotta say I don't like any of them, but the CRex if my choice was limited to these three. Surprised at the Vintage 30, thought it would trounce the others.
thank you, the CRex was definitely the most balanced speaker
