What are the odds a corps that isnt top 12 got more
This had to take soooooo long to write and learn, props to you for making sound incredible
The time it must have taken to count all of the marimba notes must have been insane. Just wondering, what software do you use to write music?

Hey that’s my boy jimmy on the outer marimba💪
Yesssir inside three!!
I was not expecting measures 289 to 290
YESSS I WAS WAITING FOR A TRANSCRIPTION TYSM
Great video as always what mallets are those btw?

@@nic-farris Thank you so much 😊
@@nic-farrisI assume the bluecoats use those correct?
@@gawky5097 yep
Rip g key
ah yes the best front ensemble
colts were really the ones to get most pitches? wow
Keep up the good work!

Soo beautiful. Like a dark fantasy
definitely something I'll try to learn!
I am shocked that Colts are in the top 2 densest marimba books this year
Wow
Very impressive playing, as a classical marimbist, I find it interesting the large difference between playing styles. I am considering auditioning on marimba senior year of highschool and I was wondering if you had any tips to build up inside mallet speed. I plan on probably auditioning for bluecoats but their packet doesn't seem to be released yet.
@@PrismXY play green every day. check out my video on how to develop every 4 mallet technique and i go over it a bit there. i also have a packet available on my website farris.band that goes over the same information in written format with a spreadsheet practice routine at recommended tempos.
Can you do the music city dbc packet? Im thinking of auditioning for their front ensemble
sure! ill add it to my todo
@@nic-farris thank you!
How many times/how long should I practice an exercise until switching to another one?
@@ethantodd8240 depends on your goals. one way to work through these quickly is to make a spreadsheet of the tempo you can play every exercise with good technique, then play them 2 times at that tempo and each day increase the bpm by 1.
yo you should arrange percussion parts for groups since you have such a good ability with both sides of the percussion sectoon
do you know what mallets he used in the bd run?
@@flopflopodoodle8499 i believe they are promark. not sure the series.
can i ask what the diagram means at the end 😅 not a front player, just a major front appreciator! beautiful playing by the way!
@@_Kenopsia_ i counted all the notes played by the center marimba of top 12 dci groups for the entire show. the diagram is a ranking of that. difference between pitches and attacks can be understood by viewing the example of a chord with 4 notes has 4 pitches but 1 attack. good to hear from you. hope this helps
@@nic-farris thanks dawg! that’s about what i assumed, phenomenal playing!!
That coat looks white and red to me
Gotta love broken city personally my favorite wgi group
cant wait for your top 3 list, wow! Even Phantom and bd are not into it.
S tier front ensemble
👊
Is there a metronome-less version I can use for my ringtone?
@@--_4903 hahaha not currently but i can make one
How long have you been playing marimba? I am trying out for bluecoats in a couple months and I have been watching a bunch of your content and I am just curious.
@@JacobAbanathy since fall 2013
@@nic-farrisdo you have any tips for joining bloopit?
@@gawky5097learn the packet asap and play it every day. learn the music from previous years of bloopit. record yourself every time you practice. take lessons from someone who teachers or marched there. feel free to send me any videos you have of yourself practicing and i’ll give you feedback for free. good to hear from you and best of luck on your journey!
@@nic-farrisI’m definitely going to learn the packet inside and out once it’s released. I’ve thought about working on some previous year’s shows but have been focused on a solo piece lately. Do you know everything that I'll need for the audition? I’ve heard I’ll need a prepared piece for the audition, so I’m currently working on Until Dawn by Arnor Chu. I keep checking every day to see if they’ve posted the packet yet, I'm really eager to start learning the packet lol. Thank you so much for offering feedback, I really appreciate it. I’ve been watching you for a long time and have been practicing a lot of the warmups I’ve seen you play. I just have a lot of questions lol. I’ll definitely take you up on the offer and send you some videos soon.

Can I have an email address? I have something to consult. Thank you

Phantom played on our football field this year the day of grand nats. It was incredible. I play synth and I want to audition with them this summer.
One of my favorite openers tbh. I still think the most beautiful is Babylon, though.
Moonlight sonata is really overused especially in percussion in my opinion but I still enjoyed phantom this year
Sus
Man stick heights are so even and your outer mallets just stays still when its just suspensing when not in use is SO DAMN FREAKING IMPRESSIVE. I CANNOT keep mean from moving but i do have very very small hands and wrist
Thats at lucas oil stadium isnt it
Phantom regiment is definitely my favorite show this year, and bluecoats are absolutely the easiest second
dang that's fast!

Damn
Now double speed!
What kind of mallets are you using?

Seeing the top 4 in the bottom areas of the spreadsheet was something i did not expect
I spend like 3 weeks learning this off and on and you do it in like a couple days for a UA-cam shorts video lmao 😭 I also only learned the beginning part
This was so beautiful it almost made me cry! Phenomenal job. 🥹
This is absolutely beautiful omg, keep up the good work
I was at Phantom’s first rehearsal location for the 2024 season, and as a marimbist myself (still newish with 4 mallets), this whole front ensemble was incredible along with the whole band. Real tears!
Phantom was one of my favorites this year
such a w show
