Have you been to Korpinen? Its an artificial lake in Reisjärvi. Big pike, perch and burbot also. Quite difficult to icefish because water is dark and fish stays in shallow waters but at least the beginning of the ice fishing season ive caught some good perch and summer of course.

Many days of trail and error. But this time of the year. They feed in deeper water. Later they will start feeding shallower once snow melts and sunlight shines through the ice. And they start to feed on stonefly another critters in the shallows.

why are your fish you catch so small?

Yeah here in Finland the Whitefish aren't that big. Biggest whitefish ive was 2.6 kilo.52cm. and that was Open water season bottom fishing Baltic Sea. Near Helsinki.

man I would never have thought to use such small hooks! We use some bigger baits here 'cause they're chomping on gobies (ua-cam.com/video/KPShf01mEks/v-deo.htmlsi=dz60vY1AhXIll_Md) but I think I should give this a go too!! Thanks for sharing! I've never used that knot either!
