*Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage* This is an orphanage, nursery and captive breeding ground for wild Asian elephants located at Pinnawala village, 13 km northeast of Kegalle town in Sabaragamuwa Province of Sri Lanka. Pinnawala has the largest herd of captive elephants in the world.

The bullock carts we still being used in Sri Lanka in the early to late 60 s .Fond memories of Sri Lanka a age of innocence .Villagers were still living on the coast around Kaltura and Wadduwa in their palm leaves fishing huts and no electricity or running water or basic needs Cooking was done in clay pots and wood fires .
When I was there in the early 1970s it was as you described it with many bullock carts still
