A bit of progress on the modular build - three 3340 based oscillators from LMNC assembled. Two are working, one still needs a bit of a troubleshoot! Hopefully a calibration video soon. 30 second endless answering machine message tape
Переглядів 3312 роки тому
I found these 'endless' tapes on eBay and was curious about how they are threaded. I took one apart but it's a bugger to get it back together I recorded some audio from In Defence of Fear (From Jaws 19's Horror Special) to make music on my Tascam Porta 1. The tape would be improved by removing the metal strip at the start/end

Great fun & great smell riding with a bunch of 60 somethings on mopeds. I had a mobylette X7 when I was 16 in 1979. It did about 35mph & I went through 3 engines in that year. I still have one with a 67cc big bore kit & it'll do 42mph heads down & I've had 47.8 downhill with GPS speedo. Scary on 10" tyres & 3" diameter drum breaks. Got bigger bikes but more smiles per hour on my moped. Wanna race ?
Great I found this the underneath of it freaked me out thought it was a camera.
I am so grateful to you for opening that tape. I've just stumbled across these too when trying to find a way of making longer tape loops. I found some of these 30 second loop tapes on eBay and I would have been tempted to take apart to see how they're routed and now I don't need to, thank you! Very nice piece, thank you for sharing this also.
@@JamesPearson if you are really careful you can open one up and cut out the metal strip then stick it back together. I have managed to do that once. It means you don't have the silence each time the strip goes past. I think it's there to be detected where the start of the answerphone message is
@@chrisbullock613 Thanks Chris, that sounds like a good idea. The eBay listing is for three tapes and so I can always take the risk with one :) move the tape until the metal strip is at the heads and work from there. I do have splicing tape and a block, etc, but boy is it fiddly! It's actually made me wonder if I could try building my own longer loops. The solution they used with that piece of plastic doesn't look too difficult to replicate. Tapes generally have that piece of clear plastic and I wonder if that could be cut to the same shape to serve the same purpose. That would be really cool!
@@JamesPearson You can add more plastic pieces inside to take the tape on a longer route, like lego pieces although it's not going to add much more loop time. I think some people run the tape outside of the casette and the player but then you'd need a hole in your casette and player chassis!
@@JamesPearson but yes get the metal strip in place then it's more manageable to cut it out and resplice - I use scissors and tape I don't have a proper block so my splices arn't perfect but usually sound ok. Some of my performance tapes are waiting to be remade I really should do that!
MAGIC DAYS ON MI FS1E
they look to be stamp-cut; really odd to not go with hexagons.
Bought one brand new in 76 . NFH 771P . All right on short trips. long runs it would just pop and bang then die on me lol . WOULD LOVE TO KNOW IF IT'S STILL AROUND
Hey! Great video
Great vid Chris, had a FS1E (1980) model restricted drove me mad only doing 30MPH - wish I'd of known how to de-restrict it back then - wonder what happened to my FS1E ?
I think it just needed a new xhaust :). You could ask around on social media sometimes they turn up!
Had mine in 79, 16 and ride it like you stole it, unfortunately mine was ended in the front of a maxi. It hurt. 😂
I'm 19 and i get together every week to ride with my friends on my 1990 Yamaha dt50lc. its liquid cooled 6 speed from the 90s they don't ride bikes that small but its fun trying to keep up with them or commuting on the road. it was alot work getting to run and drive proper i tore the hole bike down. had to clean the gas tank and put front forks from a parts dirt bike i had laying around. tuned it up with bigger carb and milled down the head for more compression and it will do 65mph on a flat and have more to go. before i got it though it was sitting in a shed forgotten about i convinced the guy to sell it to me for 500. i bought it with 2500km and now have 12000km. i will probably never sell it.
Excellent work! It's great you've given it a new life
You were never forgotten from barshens how silly of you Ms bowlocks
Thank you 🥰

This really takes me back when I was an eager 16 year old buying my first moped. A 1977 /78 Yamaha FS1M, I think it was the first year that the FS1M had the autolube! It's funny even after 42 years I can still remember the registration....S50 SOS To this day, I still kick myself knowing that I part exchanged it for £60! when I was 17.
i remember in the 1970s . the honda, puch & jawa. they didnt have gears. what is this 3 speed or 4 speed ?
4 speed
My mum and dad wouldn't let me have one. Fair play to the people who own these bikes their having a right good time rather sitting around being boring.
Thanks for the smiles.
Well this has been a lovely stumble. Enjoying your channel :) electronic noisies and bikes are the best (I like the big bikes though)
Ah thanks very much I appreciate it!
ti had the Yamaha fsi dx version in Belgium gray color.greets.
I've had a Suzuki 50 is that the same !. Also 3 x 125s a kaw 4, 4, and 2024 maybe a 250 scrambler, I'm only 61 so I have few mile's left under my belt. Might even join a old folks biker club. 🏍️🛵🏍️🛵🏎️🛵🏍️🏍️🛵
Hi friend. I have one new suzuki staying in garage 22 years, and 2 yamaha 1976
I tried pedaling my new fizzy back in 1977 on a flat surface it was near impossible you couldn't keep the bike upright and under control .
Love how they're still delusional about 50 and 60mph; making excuses for why they can't get much over 40 now!
On my Barshens binge thought to check what the ol' Sound Maestro was up to and I'm not sure how should i react lol
Hah yeah it's a bit niche! Thanks for checking it out x
I can’t believe it took me seven years to come across this. Miss those old Barshens videos, and hope post Barshens life has been good to you. ❤
Thank you so much! Things have been great, I'm more established in TV work now and work mainly on documentaries and TV recording sound and sometimes work as a boom operator. Learning my craft on barshens really set me up for my new career and I'll never forget that.
My first road legal bike was a fizzy (PTX145M) and I loved it until the gearbox problems. I replaced it with a DT50 (ADW955T) which was also a great bike. Brilliant memories
Brilliant" but where"s the Salad dodger,
He's definitely around on the Eagle stuff!
I think you should do a 2005 for US All! I would really like to see how you go about it. I'd really like to learn how to do this as I purchased my dream Furby and I am esthetically done with the skin and I am now moving into the internal barts. I want to know where to attach. Circuit bends onto the circuit board. Thanks for an amazing video lots of great input. Hopefully, you read this comment, and you can get a 2005 Furby and do one up for us all.
I'll have a look but I think they are even less bendable than the original ones! Thanks for watching
@@chrisbullock613 Oh k, so have you seen the video here on UA-cam? With the furby that has the pill bottle that is attached. I guess to a bendable wire of some sort with a 3.5 mm audio Jack on it, and it even has the red and blue, LED. Flashing lights behind the eyes. Have you seen that 1? That's what I'm trying to duplicate kind of and I'm just trying to learn more about the circuitry and what I need to soder too.
@@Beyond_Slots I haven't seen that one, if you want it to flash with sound you could look at using a transistor with the audio signal coming in to the gate and the LED and power supply on the collector. I think it's called an emitter follower circuit where the small audio signals act like a switch to turn on and off the power to the LED.
@@chrisbullock613 The video is called the furbinator There's no way you can miss it. It's got one red Eye, 1 blue Eye, and it's just flipping. Cool. Looking Mand I'm trying so hard to achieve this. Crazy, look that I'm looking at in my head. And I'm getting there, but it's the technical parts that always get me LOL.
I bought one off my mate who had passed his test , i paid £60.00 for it , i actually loved it , used to go to work on it
Great to see the fun! And yes i had one too, in 1987. now i'm 53. 50cc and it ran 125 km/h and i have to change the crankshaftbearings every 3 weeks!
Time travel!
Wow, I had that same one… 40 years ago now! Took it to boarding school an listened to it after lights out. 😁 My little brother snipped the headphone wire playing with some scissors, and I got really upset. Dad fixed it with a terminal block connecter, and I had this bulky cube tugging on the headphones. 🤦♂️😂
what a lovely memory! I've thought about getting some orange pad headphnes for the aesthetc but this walkman sounds best with my lovely DT770 pros. I'm so happy this one works with minimal repair
I had a Suzuki 50cc GT in the mid/late 70s. Darn…I messed up a few..ha. I could get 145km/hr out one of them. It was the time of the YamahaRD, Honda 50cc four strokes, Fantic Caballero, Mobylette automatic, Zundapp, Kreidler, and many more. We used to weld our own expansion chambers too, what a noise. Drove my neighborhood crazy..ha. My gosh…what great times we had.!!!! Best time of my life.
I had a ss50 5 speed which I changed to 70cc after nicking my dad's top end off his C70 whilst he was a holiday in Tenerife. He never did find out. RiP Dad 😢😢

Oh nice. The video works well with this. 🙂
It's so weird, when I was cutting it there were whole chunks that fit the rhythm with the original edit points. Like it was cut to the exact same tempo.
I was so excited that you found a pitch bend!! I wish it would have worked like we both hoped...
Aghh I know it's so frustrating. But it did say least change the playback speed, just not in a cool way!!
