All about growing fig trees, A-Z. Located in central Arizona and I have been growing fig trees for almost 10 years. I'm always on the hunt for the next best variety and have trialed many different varieties over the years. I have tested many different ways of rooting fig trees and learned a lot & now I am ready to share my tips and tricks to the public here on UA-cam.
Thank you for joining me on this fig journey, Justin.

Capoll Curt Negra Fig
Переглядів 793Рік тому
In this video I review the Capoll Curt Negra Fig. This was a very popular variety at a fig tasting event held by Harvey at his farm, and I can see why. This is an excellent tasting variety. For those who don't know who Harvey is, he is a farmer in California who grows hundreds of varieties of figs, so that says a lot about this variety. Black Madeira (KK) fig vs. Craven's Craving fig
Переглядів 1,9 тис.Рік тому
In this video I review, and compare, the Black Madeira (KK) fig to the Craven's Craving fig. The Black Madeira (KK) fig does seem to be a bit smaller than the Craven's Craving fig, but both are excellent tasting varieties to grow. figbid.com/Browse?CategoryID=9&Seller=justcare24&CountryId=233&ViewStyle=list&StatusFilter=active_only&ListingType&SortFilterOptions=1

Craven's Craving Fig vs. Black Madeira Fig
Переглядів 2,1 тис.2 роки тому
Craven's Craving compared to Black Madeira. As you can clearly see, these two figs have differences. Very similar, but different. I remember long ago hearing about Black Madeira and Figo Preto and that they were slightly different, with Figo Preto ripening sooner than Black Madeira. Maybe all along there were two very similar, but different figs. One that was larger and ripened earlier, and one...

Martinenca Rimada Fig
Переглядів 5802 роки тому
This is a review on a really cool, variegated fig, called Martinenca Rimada. This fig has an excellent reputation for being a very high quality fig. My tree unfortunately was planted in a bad spot so I could not give it a rave review at this time, but I will make an updated video in the future. The thumbnail image is an excellent fig I got from the tree last season. figbid.com/Browse?CategoryID...

Craven's Craving Fig vs Madeira Island Black Fig
The long finger leaves tells me you have the Stella/Dalmatie type Sika fig. Not the original but still very good.
Looke great
They are the same fig. LET'S BE HONEST FOLKS!! 👀🧐💯 it depends on the source. My BM KK from a Greek Island is vigorous and large.
You can do a wax cap as well, probably an overall healthier method
Trees are looking great! Beautiful space! Happy to hear your Son is doing much better!
I appreciate the video my friend! I lost the tags on one of mine and was looking for pictures of your leaves! For anyone watching Justin has verified cultivars and is a very trustworthy seller!
U have any cuttings available
So black madeira and KK are different varieties? They both looked fantastic
beautiful yard! thanks for the review
I just absolutely hate this fig. It's sitting in my front yard and the fruit tastes absolutely bland for some reason
Good fig
The fruit that I really like, in Indonesia I also grow this fruit
does burgan unk need te wasp to ripen?thank's~
No, it does not.
Will you ever do a review of your Lampeira Prusch? I just bought some off of figbid from you, great looking cuttings!
Glad to see this. Thanks for clearing this up, so much varied info online... some say all the BM types are the same, some say not. I think its clear these 2 are different
Your not using any rooting hormone?
I’ve used rooting hormone in the past, but it’s not needed.
@@azfig1088 I've been using Aloe vera on the part of the cutting in the soil and have had better success getting them to root. I also add one aspirin to a gallon of water, to promote root growth. I'm in Mesa, Arizona.
What about White Madeira #1 productivity in desert climate ? Is it good ? Thank you for sharing
Elija is so cute! I plan to bend mine over, secure with staple, cover with leaves and a final layer of woodchips. I want to prune them in the Japanese style.
Thankyou for sharing your impressive orchard, and your sweet little one's health success. 🙏
Thank you for the great fig cutting and rooting video. I am going to try it soon. Thanks again.
Jolly good show Ol Chap!
Thank you father!
Oh, so sweet to see your son! I've been praying for him almost daily. Celebrating the good news.
Thank you! I really appreciate it!
Love your method .. thanks 🙏.. definitely going to use this way of making cuttings
This one is a superb fig
Figs need the fig wasp for Pollination
Praying for a full recovery and for God's peace and comfort.
Thank you! He is still in remission and one more year of treatment. Doing super good.
Great video
Thanks for sharing
Peat moss is very acidic. You don't add any lime to offset that?
My water ph is high, so I don’t add any. I’ve added it in the past for my larger pots.
Do you have any fig trees for sale.?
There is a link to Figbid in the description and comment section of this video, there you will see what I have available at this time.
You do that during growing season
After the wood hardens off. Just no green cuttings. Can be done in fall, winter, or spring.
Any plants available, for purchase
He lost me with the white paint. I used clear grafting tape
killer
Any differences between thid and BNR?
BNR is a very slow grower and the figs seem to ripen darker. Also the leaves seem different.
That’s the Black Madeira being sold here in Vienna/Austria. Flat fig. Slow growth. Ordered BM KK cuttings from UK for comparison. Thanks for your videos. ;) Subscribed to your channel.
Just came across your channel. I live in the East valley. Do you sell cuttings or rooted trees?
Check out Figbid.com There are a ton of cuttings on there. There are some trees now, but more trees in spring and summer. In these UA-cam videos there is a link that goes directly to my listings on Figbid.
After germination, the fig plant needs moisture to continue growing
when fig cutting has few roots can put them under the light if not when can it be done.
Yes, you can put them under lights even before roots as well.
thank you for the answer.
Does having only one node available for top growth limit foliage in any way. Will you be showing subsequent photos of growth of these cuttings ? Sue ColemaN
It doesn’t limit growth, they will push growth from only one node. I’ll do an update soon.
Nice
Wow
Nice review. Great looking figs.
Thanks!
Monsoon rolling in? Good times!
I was looking at the website. Is there like a sample pack where they send figs....also I would have saved some of those seed of the ones you liked. You could have grew them
Looks like he has fig jam, barbecue sauce, sausage. I’m not seeing figs, but you may be able to contact him. Looks like he is selling trees. I think some of the trees may not require pollination, but some may. I may be able to try and pick some seeds out of my teeth and try. Lol
Just came across your channel! Like what you're doing! New friend over here. Hope to stay connected! Take care and have a Great Day 👍
Thank you very much! I just subscribed to your channel, looks like you grow a lot of stuff👍
You are a brave man. In a previous video you said something about a monsoon saturating a few of your cuttings and then I saw the wall surrounding your property and I knew you were either in New Mexico of Arizona. Nice videos, but attacking the nest made me subscribe. This year I’m expending my collection and I’m hopeful to have a good season in snowy and cold New York.
Thank you for subscribing! I really appreciate it!
Looking good! Thanks for posting the update, I always appreciate seeing actual results. A few of questions if you don't mind: 1) Your mix is 2 Peat to 1 Perlite, do you add any lime to make it less acidic? 2) When and how do you fertilize the cuttings? 3) What are your thoughts on rooting hormone? Thanks
I don’t use anything to bring the ph up because my tap water has a high ph, it may be beneficial if you are back east and your ph is low. After the cuttings start leafing out I water with 1 teaspoon per gallon miracle grow all purpose fertilizer. I’ve used rooting hormone in the past, but you really don’t need it.
😍
Is your Black Madeira fig the "KK" Version? My Black Madeira KK figs are ALMOST ripe (maybe within a few weeks here in NC) Hoping they will ripen, but after the rain and cold weather we got after Hurricane Ian, it's a toss-up. Thanks for your video.
I have the KK one, but in this video it’s not the KK BM. Hope everything is going alright out there.
