Short. Thx.
Short. Thank you!
SHORT ! I really need to learn this skill bc I want to make socks!
Short Thank you!
This is how I started knitting and it’s the only way it feels right haha
Short
Short, thank you
I learned know to knit traditionally first and continental looked so difficult, then I learned how to crochet. I feel more confident in learning how to do continental now especially since my hand is cramping so much from wrapping the yarn around the knitting needle.

I would love the link

Short, please.
Will definitely try this on my sweater today!
I personally prefer norwegian knitting style. That is basically continental (which is european, more precise german knitting style anyway), but with even less movement and strain. You have all your fingers on the needles, the yarn is wrapped around your left finger (all from a right handed pov here), and also through the other fingers of the same hand. The stitches are VERY close to the tips. Like that, you can do continental style without moving your hands or fingers much or at all. For flat works i do that, but also 'crossed' stitches. Cause i do stockinette AND purls 'crossed' they kind of uncross themselves and become normal stitches. This is even faster and easier than continental or norwegian, doesn't work for knitting in the round though - for that you can use 'eastern uncrossed' style (eastern european, and probably the original knitting style), where you uncross the crossed stitches by pulling the yearn for the new stitches from below, instead of from above. Haven't tried that one though, cause relearning that all after decades of knitting continental is not really my thing (i learned knitting while in Kindergarten from my grandma, in the 90s).

I started out learning continental style, and found English style too sliw for me, considering I'd have to move the yarn for every single stitch, it just didn't sit well with me. Both have their pros and cons and I aint saying one is better than the other tho, to each their own

Short. Thanks.

this video was very helpful as a refresher. not in love anymore with my interchangeable needle 'try it' set from knit picks and I am ready to get a decent set for the sweater and socks I want to try making.
Short, thanks!
I started and restarted because of this issue and could not figure out for the life of me what I was doing wrong! Thank you so much for this!
Very helpful. I'm trying to knit my first hat and thought I needed 24 in needles because I need a 24 in hat (big head). My mistake.

Thats a very handy tip, thanks for sharing!
That's so neat!
I already knew how to crochet when I decided to learn how to knit, and the continental style came so naturally to me. I can't knit the other way.
Short
Short!
I learned how to knit English style, but after learning how to crochet, continental style is more natural. Knowing both definitely helps with stranded color work.
My German mother taught me (1st generation American) how to knit. So of course, it was the continental style (aka German Knitting).
One of my favorites too. Spit splice 😂
I've always done it continental, it feels easier, and faster
I learned Norwegian and will not knit any other way now.
Thank you so much. I was pretty far up when i noticed i didnt have enough stitches anymore😂. So helpful
For two colors, I tension the dominant color around my index finger and the background color around my middle finger. This also helps the floats, as the dominant float stays on the bottom where it should be.
Short
I personally found that if I’m using long enough needles, I can hold the one I’m working off of in my elbow or hip and just… fly through stitches if I’m holding continental. It’s kinda like lever knitting, but I do it a bit different if that makes any sense. I’m working on making an actual shuttle I can clip to my belt so I can walk around with my needle held at my hip as I knit and not have to fight a pocket and struggle 😅
Short
What's the other way? O.o
I didn't know i'm knitting in english style! And yes , i knit this way because i have issues with my hands, i fall on the stairs!
Short. Thank you!
wow i just learned i knit while changing with which hand i do it on every row... :'D
