Case 42d vs Yanmar sv40
Unbiased comparison figuring out which unit is best for my applications.
video explores breakout force, digging force / arm force, lift capacity, lighting, and other items.
Probably best enjoyed at 1.25 - 1.5 speed while viewing

Introduction to the Property

Our first video showing the beginning stages of the property, making preparations for a home, and some of its features. Recorded 5/28/18
put the blade down when it is in the front and you will have more lifting power.
I finally used mine after buying it. My Sista lives on a canal in FLORIDA after Helene and Hurricane Milton some of the dock was gone and piling needed to be removed. I put a strap around piling and laid an old piling on top of concrete seawall with strap over it. I hooked my Badlands winch to strap and we pulled out 7 pilings. I am VERY happy with my winch!!!
I would like to see a comparison of the digging/swinging cycle times too. I tested a Bobcat E42 and kubota KX040, the Bobcat was stronger, but the Kubota was fast cycling. It really depends on your personal needs/preferences as to which machine fits your requirements.
What a great video. Wish we had more like this.
Great
Excellent video, thanks. I have a Ford 3910 that I'm trying to fix its PTO. There's a leak there and it won't stop when you move the handle under the seat. It just turns slower but doesn't stop completely, how can I fix this?
Where's the alfredo sauce fill cap on the Case? :D I believe that one's produced Bagno Italy and runs a Kubota engine. It's weird that Case Construction won't run their CNHI engines in their units.
I love my Yanmar!
Very nice video especially the 45 second duty cycle with 15 minute rest most have no idea about duty cycles.
My Zrx couldn't get my 2000 z71 4x4 out of the hurricane mud from milton still stuck..don't waste money on harbor freight junk..buy a sherpa or warn..im literally buying one now
The case has a counter weight on back, if the yanmar had it's 450lbs counter weight it would have been more even. It give the yanmar an extra 1000lbs lifting capacity.
Where's the Takeuchi comparison?
If the cab yanmar is cheaper than the open station case its a no brainer.
What size and year is your Ford tractor? I have a 1985 Ford 1710 and was thinking of using it for logging my property in North Idaho
Thank you for your time/comparison! Presently, I have two CATS - a 302.7cr, 303.5cr - and am very disappointed with both. ...looking at both this Yanmar and Case (along with the Kubota). So, you have helped me a ton!!! Thank you : )
I was considering the 302.7 also until I understood it was made in China. What'd you go with? If I'm buying a Chinese excavator, I'll skip the Caterpillar markup.
I have the 9000 pound badlands on my car trailer and it pulled an H farmall with both back wheels locked up
Simple tools and some 'doin it sense' great video!
Just got this for father's day Great review
Smart! Nicely done!
Incredible video. Did you have to order the winch attachment separately? I have got to have one of these after my "HELL DAY" this last Sunday. Thank you. Wow that is impressive!!
Just to add; you could have driven home without the PTO engaged.. The loss of differential UTF would not have made a difference on the diff gears..
Just did my 74 Ford 3000 PTO. Itis es quit different but sort of similar.. The C clips are the pain in the ass..
Well done sir!
The breakout force is not tested properly, in real life, the bottom of your bucket will be supported with dirt or something else, in your test you are biased by the friction of the machine on the ground and also the arm cylinder force.
Get some forks. Works a lot easier. No getting off tractor or getting stuck. You don't have to lift so high. That is very dangerous to do.
Forks bend buckets and most dont last
Push yourself out backwards with bucket.uh huh
I have a Ford 4600 and the PTO is not turning. I checked the clutch, and I think the clutch is OK. Please advise.
I am literally watching this because my Tractor is stuck and thinking i need a winch. Thanks, heading to harbor freight as soon as they open.
Good job
Thanks for the comparison, I'm impressed with the case. I would be interested in what the reliability of each machine over time and test again say every 1000 hrs to see if there is much change.
Good thought for sure!
Curious what caused the PTO to come out like it did to begin with?
Bush Hog jumped up violently
Teeth on front bucket would of made a big different.
Great demo!
What size tongs are these? 32”?
They look like it. I have these same tongs and can easily handle logs that max out my mill, I have a Woodland Mills 130max sawmill (30" diameter log capacity)
Interesting, thanks for sharing. Was actually curious to see this exact type of operation for my own much smaller project (root cellar). Tedious but doable, especially with a much more modest end goal.
I love this, as someone else here said "use what you have". Those old Ford industrial tractors were tough as nails. My dad had a 555b backhoe for many years, it was an absolute tank.
Well done! How to get a whole lot more out of your tractor. Do you use this to load your bandsaw mill
Absolutely! Works great for that purpose. Have milled many logs using this method
I have forks and these same tongs. I welded chain hooks onto the back rest of my forks to hook tongs into. So much easier on the bed of my mill vs using forks and trying to roll the logs onto the bed. I love the tongs!
would it be easier to dig into a hill? my parents property is decently steep in some areas and used to be strip mines long ago.
Love the video, I have a 1985 Ford 1910 where could I possibly look for a shaft if it is broken ?
Must be close to a 1959 841d I bet eh? I had the shaft bind on my wood chipper and it pushed the pto shaft in. Next time I started the tractor it leaked and leaked aaaaand leaked. Ordered up my parts. Thanks for the video budski
I'm new to to tractors and land clearing, but I bought a used Kubota B2910 with Box Blade (with root rake teeth) and front end bucket. When I root rake, I end up with a pile of dirt with all the roots in the dirt pile. How can I avoid collecting all this dirt? Thanks for any help I can get!
Cant find the right seal for my ford 3000 pto shaft. Any suggestions?
Should be able to find it. They are same seal as the newer 8x2 trans tractors like a 4610, 5030 etc.
I just bought a tractor, no chance of the loader bending with heavy logs?
Your loader arms should be rated for the max lifting capacity of your equipment prior to your relief valve lifting in your hydraulics
Hi! I just need to change the oil seal. Can I do that without the shaft coming out and the coupler dropping, etc? I have almost the same tractor. Thank you!
Imagine how well it would pull if it was wired to the tractor and the battery was being charged
4wd would not have mattered.
Can I assume you greased the seal before placing the shaft??
Please explain why this is necessary?
How refreshing! A normal guy who, like me, lives in a rural area but doesn't have hundreds of thousands for a a Kubota, Woodmizer, Warn winch, etc. Great video-now subscribed. Maybe you've upgrade by now!
Kubota
A 2 row bottom plow will dig 6 inches deep in one pass. Break up the dirt with a 2 row plow then use the bucket and drag the dirt backwards out of the hole.
