Multiple Failures Across Northern California's EV Charging and Grid
The power went out, I wasn't able to charge my EV overnight, and my cat needed to go into the vet's office for an emergency surgery. This was the worst-case-scenario for an EV owner; however, it was also an opportunity for me to test out the current state of Northern California's public EV fast charging along the I-5 corridor. Let's just say that right now, things aren't great.

2017 Chevy Bolt EV Replacement Battery Capacity Test

It's time to finally test battery capacity of my new, replacement battery on my 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV. For this test, I drove down to below 15%, and I compared the energy used versus the battery state of charge displayed on the charger screen. Based on this data point, it appears that my Bolt EV currently has about 63 kWh of usable battery capacity available.
ChargePoint Is Now Installing SAE J3400 Plugs!

Exciting news, fellow EV travelers. It appears that GM Energy's first Pilot-EVgo charging site in California is almost completed and ready to be energized. I was able to pick up a new Ryobi riding mower just in time for California to break out of its three-year drought. While these electric riding mowers are expensive for the features relative to a gas powered riding mower, they are cheaper and cleaner to operate.
