Never heard of it so I watched the pilot before clicking this. The art and animation looks great, but the writing was really boring. Controversial behaviours like promiscuity or drug use just aren't amusing or interesting in of themselves, but the show doesn't do much of anything with those ideas, and they take up easily half the runtime. I would've preferred if either the emphasis was more on the fantasy elements, or if they actually had something to say about the controversial behaviours. It honestly comes across like the writers know very little about any of the real-world topics referenced in the show, and therefore struggle to say anything interesting or amusing about them. For example, "Angel Dust" is a powerful dissociative in the same family as ketamine in real life, so if you've ever met anyone who uses it and then watch the show, it becomes really distracting that characters who frequently use its in-universe equivalent behave the way they do.

I've really got to question the intentions, or at least veracity of this video when the very first claim is a lie or mistake. Extermination is not a new concept. The pilot literally opens showing the aftermath of the extermination (albeit called cleanse but it's definitely the same event and concept. I normally wouldn't accuse someone for lying about something like this, if it wasn't for just how blatantly wrong it is.

The show was created and written specifically with the deviantart art fetish seeking crowd in mind. Prove me wrong.

Alexandra Kollontai, a person I have never heard of before, must have been a woman with vision, a socialist libertarian vision, a Rosa Luxembourg kind of thinker. These words are not just beautiful, soothing and poetic but avant- Guard, visionary and feminist, truly revolutionary. Really wish the show was focused more on morality, and the concept of heaven and hell, but instead it just feels like what an edgy 12 year old would come up with. In my opinion the show should've just stuck with Charlie trying to redeem people and trying to find out what makes some one redeemed instead of trying to be an epic fantasy story Love this video btw and your political views are based asf

Before concluding the trilogy, as I see that part 3 is already out, and seeing its animations, I want to recommend other very good works about Hell and Christianity, in addition to saying a little something; Hazbin Hotel makes me shudder at the amount of errors about its heaven and hell, being only ultra-vanilla in its mythology, so I will list some, but First lets gets to the Recommendations; - Vampire Knight Requiem (It's a French-British comic, The story follows a German soldier after dying in the Stalingrad war, being sent to Hell, he discovers that in Hell the worse his sins, the greater the social scale that you will be reincarnated, resurrecting as a vampire the most powerful creature on the social scale of hell, then we follow the story with him discovering the mythology of the world, his society, politics and history, as well as dealing with the fact that he was never a good person, discovering more about how horrible he was). -The Tragedy of Man is a free animated film on UA-cam, telling the Journey of Adam through Time, together with his faithful companion Satan, the film is a great commentary on human nature from the religious perspective - Diablo 3 If you want a Good Story about Demons vs Angels with greyness morals What's more: There's an Apocalypse of Angels, something much cooler than an Apocalypse of demons - Darksiders shows both heaven and hell as distinct realms, rather than ontologically good and evil creatures, both are Awful beings and bureaucrats, with a desire for war. Where Hell acts like Europe in 700, various fiefdoms plotting internal wars to acquire power, then Heaven is more "Roman" some authority figures vying for power and forming secret alliances. .1)How do Angels exist without God? .2)If they were not created by a Supreme Good, how can we say that heaven is good, who created these notions .3)they were created as a kind of cultural propaganda, since sinners have never seen heaven, so this would make Heaven and Hell just kingdoms at war, in the same way that humans war. .4)If that is the case, then is evil an external cosmic force? or is it ontological? in both cases it would make evil the real problem. 5)But then what causes evil? How do angels know something is evil? How do they see hell and the people there as evil? angels do not come efficient cause for evil 6)What causes harm? This is a very serious question that the series should answer, there is no Supreme Good that causes Good, so there is no way for there to be evil since it is a deficient cause(Light creates shadows, then Good creates Evil, Evil being the lack of Good) 7)Hell in some interpretations of Christianity is a complete separation from God, therefore eternal suffering, creation separated from the creator, Living Being separated from Life Itself, thus being Eternal Death(Equal to Eternal Suffering)So the lack of a Supreme being again completely breaks the series 8)This makes me wonder, why don't angels massacre humanity? they are apparently the proximate cause for evil, and this would make Hazbin Hotel a Crossover with Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls.

One problem in this show is that they treat the Angels as Villains when, if you think about for more than 5 seconds, they really aren't. They are the Antagonists, sure, but they are not villains.

I think I cracked Hazbin Hotel. It's not a story about morality or redemption, that's all nonsense that was meant to sell the actual show to the suits. The *real* show is straight up a high school clique allegory straight out of 2005. Vivziepop trojan horsed My Immortal into the A24 coffers. All you gotta do is realize the "violence" is largely slapstick aesthetic that happens to unnamed background characters. It's fake stakes. You can just swap it out for... muggings or whatever. Hell is just the bad side of town, and Heaven is the rich side of town. This is why they look/function the same outside of color palette. The main cast are basically just teenage goths, hanging out in their dilapidated warehouse, drinking cheap liquor they stole, smoking cigarettes, cussing and making sex jokes. This is why the characters are largely vanilla sexually, and why characters like Angel Dust's entire schtick comes off as romanticized trauma. The purges aren't people dying, not really, they're just the preppies from the rich side of the city slumming it and harrassing poor people (especially goths) for fun. Adam is just the stereotypical Ivy League, silver spoon frat boy who thinks throwing bricks at goth kids' heads is funny. He has his lackies who think it's fun too. This is why it's revealed that most of Heaven doesn't know about the "purges". It's a bunch of rich kids showing the goths "their place" which isn't approved of in polite society. Lucifer is just a rich guy who got kicked out of the HOA/country club. He just lives on the shitty side of town, but he's the richest guy there. It's why his "strained" relationship ends up being him seeing his teenage goth daughter hanging out in a run down movie theater playing with a bunch of surly kids dressed incredibly goofy. Vaggie was a member of the preppies who used to beat up goths until she hesitated and they kicked her out of their clique. It explains the dumbass writing choices regarding heaven. Angels (rich people) don't have problems because they live in the nice side of town. Nobody really knows what got them into Heaven (the nice side of town) besides they haven't thought about it, diagetically or in the writer's room. It's just dopey. "The preps better watch out cuz we're gonna fight BACK next time they come to town." It feels like a shit version of The Outsiders.

I hated how they just treated Adam as the villain. Like, Adam has every reason to hate demons amd sinners. Shit, its a demon who cucked him out of his first wife, got his second wife to become Roo (Root of all Evil.), and damned all of humanity till the end of time. It was Cain who caused the first death ever, etc. Also, its implied he never ate the Apple. Which by the shows logic is Free Will, so if anything, any wrong he did isnt his fault simply cause he would have no will of his own to want to exterminate. He'd be unquestioningly following orders. In fact, he could act the way he does simply cause he was told to by someone

The story was rushed by the songs where good however a building about redemption should be in Limbo NOT Hell.

the show and characters and EVERYTHING had SO much potential, and it's actually kinda sad to watch criticism knowing that hazbin hotel could've been THAT indie animated series. it has such compelling elements but the show is so AWFUL. and that's worse than a show that's just plain awful, because now i'm fixated on this show and whining over "wasted potential". angel dust was good as a character (coming from an SA survivor) but has a few flaws but i stll love him but vivziepop WHY. anyways i'm gonna go get food for this because it looks like a long video and i don't want to have to get food in the middle of it. edit 1: i have my food. your voice is surprisingly pleasant. edit 2: almost done with episode 4. despite having a few disagreements about angie i see your point. this is very well structured and challenging my attention span.

Some of my friends are huge fan of the series ( I was a fan too untill Helluva boss became a mess ) And they say most of the series's problems will be solved in S2 wich I disagree because when S1 was out, they said they're almost done with making it and voice actors were already working on it. Plus I don't see the Creator taking any criticism well😅 So... ( excuse me if i have any grammer error my main language isn't English so.....)

I heard criticism about there being too many characters in this show and I totally agree. They are well designed so viv maybe doesn't wanna scrap em but to an extent she had to because it trickled down onto everyone. Arcs became shortened and too much development happened off screen to really justify that many characters written in.

Here's my pause side on Hazbin Hotel. Leave it alone! VivziePop did her best to create the images of the characters. Why are you guys judging so much about this show? It's good or bad it doesn't matter you people should not judge a book by its cover. The way she and others who created it is good enough for me and others who truly care about this show. I say again, leave it alone. Don't get too deep involved on the meaning and knowledge. Eventually, she will continue making more episode. And maybe just maybe it could make sense to you all.

After finally watching the whole five hours, I can finally say, that WOW, this is a well put-together video. Much better than any other deconstruction video I've seen! Practically every point you've made is spot-on. Honestly, the only part I disagreed with was the rant about Palestine because it seems that topics like that and many others based on real life end up in controversy one way or the other, so it seems a bit unfair to judge from her silence. I think if she'd said something, she'd be blasted, regardless of her take (and knowing Viviziepop, it wouldn't be a good take). I really appreciate the rest of the racism rant; I hate how often this gets ignored when it's ridiculously easy to find documents about that kind of messed up stuff. I'm honestly surprised Viviziepop hasn't gotten cancelled or into more controversy. With that said, these videos are the only exposure I've gotten to your channel, but I do want to ask, are any other indie animation reviews on the horizon? Like a Murder Drones deconstruction or a Lackadaisy deconstruction or something like that (or smaller indie projects like Port by the Sea).

Someone compared the opening of the first episode to the book from MLP and it's hilarious how close it is; you could splice it together and have almost no notice.

Hi! I don't know if you'll see this, but I just want to say that I'm happy someone is pointing out the flaws of this show. Honestly, it's inspired me to work on my own interpretation that tries to fix it up. My version of the show is more of a purgatory-based idea with a cast of 7 and the same 8 episodes that Vivziepop had to work with, but each episode expands on a different character so when the finale happens, you really feel like these characters know each other. I'm also doing my research so that puts me way ahead of Vivziepop XD

Since you brought up the overpopulation in this part, I have so many questions. Supplementary material from the wiki, but: human sinners aren't allowed into 8/9 parts of Hell, by the hell-born's demand they're only allowed in the Pride ring. Is overpopulation an issue in the Pride ring alone, or are hell-borns bursting at the seams in other rings? What are the boundaries of this world, why can't it expand if there's magic? Does magic rebuild the world, like Lucifer does in the finale, and does magic supplement the food/drugs? Why does anyone want for anything then? The angels aren't allowed to krill hell-borns for some reason, so are hell-borns overpopulating and the humans are being punished for it? Is that the punishment for being sinners? Sounds like a get-out-of-hell-free-card for not repenting or w/e. Overpopulation "in hell" (why do they keep saying in hell and not just in the pride ring??) is treated as a tangible Thing™by the series, but where and why is it an issue? I whole-heartedly agree, Charlie fell for a conspiracy that shouldn't even exist.
