Welcome to my UA-cam channel!
I think life is a beautiful adventure, and it's never too late to embark on a journey of personal growth and self-discovery. Whether you find yourself later in life, entering a new chapter, or seeking to break free from the constraints and fears that hold you back, I believe everyone can benefit from connecting with the outdoors.
This channel is about more than outdoor walks and physical and mental challenges though, it's about the incredible transformation within ourselves that can happen when being outside. I also vlog other places I visit too, not just mountains!
Spending time in nature can have a profound impact on mental well-being. It can reduce stress, boost mood, and provide a sense of calm and clarity in an increasingly hectic world. while also cultivating a sense of accomplishment and self-worth.
So join me as I walk, climb (sometimes with my son, pictured here), make a mess of my words, attempt to get it on camera, and let’s get outdoors!

If you're planning a stay at one of the resorts in Hayle, Cornwall, and wondering how hard the climb from the beach is, this video is for you. The sand dunes of Hayle offer a beautiful natural landscape, but their ascent is far from a leisurely stroll. I share the realities of navigating through the soft sand, the steep inclines, and the physical exertion required to reach the top. Beachside & ...

Snowdon - Pyg Track in Focus part 1

I wanted to capture a real first person view of the climb up the Pyg Track, and did so using a GoPro on a chest harness to allow filming of the more challenging parts of the track, as well as the easier bits. I am joined here by my son and his girlfriend as we start our ascent from Pen-y-Pass car park and make our way up towards the junction of the Pyg Track and the path up to Crib Goch. Come a...

I wanted to capture a real first person view of the climb up the Pyg Track, and did so using a GoPro on a chest harness to allow filming of the more challenging parts of the track, as well as the easier bits. In this the final leg of our climb and descent, we continue up the Zigzags, reach the summit then descent via the Llanberis path. Come and join us on this most fabulous path up Mt Snowdon ...

I wanted to capture a real first person view of the climb up the Pyg Track, and did so using a GoPro on a chest harness to allow filming of the more challenging parts of the track, as well as the easier bits. In this part I talk about my experience in more detail, and also try to address some issues with part 1 that I wasn’t happy with. We also capture some (in my opinion) stupid behaviour of a...

Climb from Hayle beach to Beachside Holiday Park
There is the lower path that follows around the hill past the reservoir below as a circular route back to the car park which is less of a strain. Ledbury is not far away and is well worth a visit.
Congratulations to you all for summiting 🎉!! A huge thank you for such detailed videos, I have enjoyed all 3 and wish there is a lot more videos like this on UA-cam! There isn’t enough videos like this on UA-cam!! For my first time attempting Yr Wyddfa I am going to be going up the Pyg and honestly I have been feeling so nervous/anxious about it because I haven’t done a lot of scrambling, but I do actually feel a bit better about the thought of giving the Pyg track a go with a bit more confidence now after watching your 3 part videos. It looks like a steep scramble in some areas but I am sure with a slow and steady mindset it will all be ok. Thank you again for the videos, and thank you for the confidence boost from your videos 😊
Thank you so much! You’ll be absolutely fine, really :)
PYG not Pyg.
Great video info. We are in our 60s planning to do snowden soon. Just finished slieve Donard in Northern Ireland.
What time did you start the climb?
It was 09:40
@@MyOutdoorsand it’s that busy already? Head over to Ogwen valley, much quieter and just as good views
Really enjoyed your videos! We are planning our first trip to Snowden in a few weeks. Thank you so much for posting your videos. Great perspective. 😊
Great video of the walk. Well done for braving the rain and the steep walk uphill.
wow well done going to watch more great work we are going to do this as well
Thank you so much.enjoy your climb. I did a newer 3 part series of climbing snowdon if you’re interested in a more detailed view :) ua-cam.com/play/PLI9KiBVXk9P7jkdZ8K-b-tk8L1ricKip5.html&si=3pYzF1lBAhotYDEK
Thankyou so much for this detailed video. Giving me an idea what I'm expecting next week as my fitness is not that good but I will do my own pace.🤞
Also which camera you have used?
You’re welcome. Yes definitely go at your own pace and you’ll be fine. I filmed using a GoPro 11 mainly, and some bits filmed on my iPhone 14 Pro :) enjoy your climb
12 years later and this song still rocks.
That gave me a fabulous insight of the experience! Thank you :-)
Can’t wait to do it myself ! Thank you for sharing :-)
Thanks for sharing ! I love it :-)
Thanks for the video, we go every year and stay at Cream of the Crop too… in fact you filmed our van at 28:03 into the video - the white/black VW 😀 we had a fab time, I hope you did too. See you next year 🍺🎻
Thank you so much. I will look out for your van and see you next year! :)
No one ever films the last bit ... the bit where if someone had, I wouldn't have taken my 40 kilo german shepherd up there! As a result, there was clearly no going back, I had to pick her up and complete it!
Actually I did in my more recent video Pyg Track in Focus p2 ua-cam.com/video/p2ROEQgJsGQ/v-deo.htmlsi=cCa_dKQGsyWjV2pX
Well done for completing it (and no idea how you managed it carrying your dog!)
@MyOutdoors thanks. She was 4 wheel drive up there until she saw the bit where you nearly have to climb.
Excellent video, captured the essence of the Pyg Track very well. Pity you couldn't get the final, very challenging, part of the ascent on video but congratulations on reaching the summit! It's most definitely not easy and its an achievement that you never forget! 😊
Thank you so much. Actually I went back and filmed it all including the challenging last bit of the ascent in my series of 3 called Pyg track in Focus. Part 1 is here: Snowdon - Pyg Track in Focus part 1 ua-cam.com/video/6CW28EfI7bQ/v-deo.html and part 2 (contains footage of those final steep bits) and 3 are both in the same playlist, Mountains and Hills :)
We're in it... loved it 😂
Haha cool :)
Best detailed video of the Pyg track.Thank you!
Wow, thank you so much, that means a lot x
Excellent!!!
Many thanks! X
Wow! Loved all 3 of your focus videos. We were going to go up the Llanberis path, but your detailed vlog of the Pyg path has changed our mind. Loved how the young gentleman kept asking if you were ok❤
Wow, thank you so much! Glad the video helped you choose the Pyg Track too. I think it’s a great route up to start with. That’s my son, yes he was so helpful and encouraging, great to climb with. X
Next, Ben Nevis
Haha! You never know!
Thanks for sharing! We are travelling to Wales from Canada this summer and are trying to decide which path to take up Snowdon. Can I ask how much training you did in advance and if you have done other paths up to compare?
Thank you and that sounds exciting. I didn't have any training at all. This was my second time climbing the Pyg Track which is the only one I have climbed up. Going down, I have done the Miners Track before and also Llanberis path. When I do it again I will go up via the Pyg Track again and down via the Miners Track. :) This chart might be helpful in choosing the route you want to take: ourtour.co.uk/home/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Snowdon-Paths-Compared-Infographic-Hikes-Routes.jpeg
Well done, great job and I truly wish all the best and success in your challenges 👍🏼
Thank you so much! It means a lot
Well done, truly shows how challenging the pyg track gets in heat, truly have never seen so many people on it, and the summit omg 😲 ... what a que. Like yourself i'm 60 and still hitting peaks, done the pyg, llanberis and miners so out in a week or so to see the rangers path. Another beautiful climb is cader idris if not tried it i definately recommend. Once again well done for not giving up . 👍
Thank you so much, and I will definitely look at doing Cader Idris! We need to keep on keeping on! X
Thank you for the video uploads of this series, and naturally congratulations to you all for completing it. - Enjoyed watching your perspective on it. Climbed for the first time a week weeks back with one colleagues doing the Three Peaks Challenge next weekend, and the summit was in clouds unlike that glorious day you did it. Sent the video series to my other work colleagues on the Challenger, and very helpful considering Snowdon is the one we're doing at night and the early hours!
Thank you so much for your kind comments. Stupidly, I accidentally deleted the first part but I am currently re uploading so your colleagues may need to look for that one separately. Well done for completing the 3 peaks challenge! Amazing! Enjoy your Snowdon trip too. :)
Nice! One of our groups did that yesterday but mine did the ‘easier’Llanberis track. Couldn’t see a thing at the windy too! And rained on on the descent or at least for most of it. Just hoping my knees will work today😂
Thanks! Haha no route is easy, but all amazing 😊
Longest part of my day is climbing that 😂 could do with a rope grab rail 😊
Definitely would help!
Been a while since I've been to Stratford. Great video, cool to see it in first person view
Great Video, look forward to the next upload!
With such a positive video like this, you make my day :)
