are you using V/V chords?...
The progression he plays can be written as ii -> V/V -> V/vi -> vi. He then continues with V/I -> V/ii -> I Your intuition is correct, these are sometimes called Secondary Dominants

That's how I'd like to learn to play this hymn. :-) ; it seems hard to believe that it was only nine years ago that i uttered those words. What a difference those nine years are making for me in terms of my competence. Joel, I'm at a point now where I can hear and mimic some of the technique, reharms and alterations that you are using. Thank God for Holy Ghost. He gives me a hearing ear ( musically speaking ). Where I still find a frontier is in the way that you finish the piece. And yet even that I trust that He is showing to me amen. Thank you, Joel for what you have poured into my life musically
