It has been 2.5 years since the boys were harnessed (I was recovering from shoulder surgery). Rusty and Randy are so good...I, their driver, am just a beginner, so have grace as I work on my technique!

Griffin's first steps
Переглядів 44Рік тому
Only ten minutes after being born, here, newborn bull calf, Griffin, attempts his first steps. While not completely successful in this video, only a few minutes later he was nursing from him patient veteran mamma, Dandelion.
Nice Haflingers and obviously willing to do what's expected of them, even when they haven't been hitched for a long time. Shows their good disposition.
Thank you very much! They were trained very well.
@@StoneHillFarmCT As to your driving, have you ever heard of the Achenbach technique? It has served me well for a long time(I have owned and worked with horses for more than 61 years) and it still is useful. There is a book available with the title "The Art of Driving" written by Max Pape, who was a disciple of Benno von Achenbach. I had Haflingers and some European breeds in Germany and for the past 33years here in the US Belgians and Percherons as well as Haflingers. They all responded well to this safer and also gentler way of holding the lines.
@klauskarbaumer6302 thanks for this tip! I will definitely look into it!
Nice little team and sleigh! I just started breaking sleigh trails today up here in Ontario Canada, about 6 inches of snow on the ground now. Hope you enjoy many more sleigh rides this winter.
The winters here in CT the last few years have been so poor...so tak8ng advantage of anything that sticks!
Having fun!
👏🏻 yeahhhhhhh
I guess the horses don't like the feel of the harness, rubbing it off. They behaved anyway. You'll have to dress up and take a video.
No, they are actually like big dogs and are just rolling!
Yes the horses like to pull !
Good looking and healthy herd ! Awesome job !
