    I'm just finishing up my first package. I will say that the hamburger was more like pounded steak which is nice but not as tender as ground beef. The mozzarella melted into one big ball which was not my favorite. I expected more of a marinara sauce and got very little. After adding some of my own seasonings and a tablespoon of smokey matcha salsa, it tasted a lot better. It's better than many pouch meals but to be perfectly honest, I would prefer Adventure Well Outdoors meals for people on the keto diet.

    how long does it take to do this hike? i see that it closes at 3:30p. What happens if youre still on the trail at that time? Also, do you need GPS or is it easy to stay on trail?

    • @rmartino1
      @rmartino1 3 роки тому

      The loop around the pond is approximatelt 5.5 miles. So if you hike at a leasurely pace (2.5 miles a hour)it should take around 2 1/2 hours. I find it easy to stay on the trail. A GPS would not hurt if you never hiked the park before. Not sure what happens if you are still on trail after dusk. There are park police who patrol but dont know how often and there is no way for them to drive around the pond. Hope this helps

      @@rmartino1 Do i need a permit (green key or something?) If so can i buy it at the gate? Also is the parking for the trail at the dog park? ive never hiked the park before and don’t have gps so i hope it is self explanatory where to go.

    • @rmartino1
      @rmartino1 3 роки тому

      This time of the year you do not need a green key or pay to get in. Best parking if you plan on hiking around the pond is not at the dog park but by the boat rentals. From there you will see the trail.

    A PCT bear hang!!! I didn't think anyone going to Harriman would even know about it. Was the bag a little close to the trunk of the tree? Hard to tell on my comp screen!

    • @rmartino1
      @rmartino1 4 роки тому

      The main point of hanging the bag was not to keep it away from bears as we don't have that problem in Harriman State Park. Was more to keep the chipmonks away from the food. Those little thieves will steal you blind

      @@rmartino1 Nice video, thanks. I've camped at Stockbridge shelter several times. Camping on the ridge, north of the shelter is nice too. You probably already know this by now, but Harriman does have a growing bear population, which has been causing more issues with hikers. So, proper bear bag hanging is important for critters little and big.
