Hey there Buddy, I’m a bit older than you, I’m a teacher for LAUSD who teaches fourth grade, and like you I’m gay. Hearing you tell your story brought up the similarities between us. I have such an emotional attachment to you young guys dealing with your truth and coming to terms with being gay. It always hurts me when I hear these stories since I know the struggle you might have ahead of you in life? It’s never that I wish we didn’t have all these young men coming out as gay, it’s that being a guy who likes guys is difficult enough just dealing with life, but now when you factor in the gay issues you might have ahead of you in life, it just hurts that I know what most of you will have to go through? However, as I grown into this, I truly think that the Good Lord created each of us for a special purpose. For example most gay people are very strong, they are survivors usually with strong convictions. The only part that concerns me is when they stop believing in God, because of the phony Christians who find it necessary to judge others? I was happy when you mentioned you still believe in God and His Word, and having a relationship with our creator will help you find your purpose in life. My prayers go out to you and your beautiful family and friends who didn’t abandon you. It’s impossible for you to appreciate this, but you owe great thanks to the times and the larger culture for making this even possible. One of the best coming out stories I've heard... And I've heard a lot of them. But what saddens me about your story is that in this day and age with the concept of being gay is so predominantly out there now why is it still so hard to understand it and to deal with it like you did. Is it lack of education in the schools or parents not discussing it with their children? Not saying that figuring it out is an easy task but God there's got to be some way of making this easier to understand and accept.
