Doctor Who 0403 The Power of the Daleks Part 2 Reconstructed
Sad that the BBC decided that they were going to destroy a bunch of the early Who content. They didn't think anyone would be interested in "all this old rubbish". I am glad that enough survived for people to do some heroic efforts at reconstructing as much as they can using fragments and supplementary animation.
Never go to the South Pole without leaving a Tip. unless you is djt, vkm and those hated 1 percenters.
The Power of the Daleks "Episode One" 05th November 1966 Christopher Barry & David Whitaker The Girl 'Shrieks'. The Doctor Spins around and a clawed mutand sxuttles from the shadows across the floor.
You would think they'd have sent David Whittaker a copy of his episode as a token of appreciation.
The reason why the first regression seen this survive is because I was show on an episode of blue Peter from 1973 it is thanks to blue Peter that seen survivors but blue Peter borad episode 4 of the tenth planet but it never got returned to the bbc achives
I wish that all the lost episodes weren't lost and were released
I watched it as a kid when it was first broadcast. I was glued to the black & white tv! The Daleks are scarier in black & white than color :o And I quickly grew to love Patrick Troughton as the new Doctor.
I LOVE this serial. I’ve watched recons, animation and I even read the book. This is a fantastically written slice of Doctor Who, with massive importance. Helps I also love the Second Doctor. Although I’m glad we have the animation and original audio, I’d LOVE to see this back in the BBC archives.
The Power of the Daleks will always be missing
9 years old when this came out. The regeneration was all anybody talked about at school the following week.
You’re so lucky, I’ll never be able to see this serial. The animated version is in my top 3 doctor who serials of all time, I’ll never be able to see it for real
I was 6 :-)
I was 11 when Pertwee regenerated into Tom Baker. We'd seen him for ONE SECOND but we were making negative judgements about him.
eh would have prefer it with the animation audio and not the girl speaking.
Me at the end of the school year 4:36
I loved this!!!! Can you post more? I love classic who over new who. Bill to Sly are THE real, classic and best.
That was jolly good. Hope to see more on here or atound UA-cam. Im off to bed. Love the later 60s series and Pat. Ive not seen the golden oldies. My first Dr Who was 1981 Toms last episode. I was more of a Peter Davidson era lad. I was 5 or 6 when it kicked off for me. Good night all. Me wondering was it a good idea eating potato cakes before bed with the ever increasing farting 🤔🤣
Much prefer this type of reconstruction to the cartoon versions, myself. Many thanks!
That startreck reference when they said planet Vulcan
This is rare and good classics
12:34 Oooo, Mr. Spock's home planet lol
"Power of The Daleks" is one of the most important episodes, because we have 2nd Doctor first reaction and words. It is a pity the original episode is lost. 😢
Wasn't that the doctor was only trying to reactivate the TARDIS so that he'd wake back up? It's like he said, without the tardis he would never had made it in the first place.
I think it's implied that the TARDIS aided his regeneration.
4:31 me when chibnall and whittaker announced their leaving Doctor Who
lol
I remember this when it was first broadcast! Shame they deleted it all. _"Oh, no one will ever be interested in seeing this old crap again..."_ {:-:-:}
Thanks for posting, don't like the recon on the BBC DVD with it's transitions from photo to photo & no video clips!
the version i have has photos and video clips but not alot
Thanks for including Anneke's narration 😊

Vulcan the home of the SPOCK
A nod perhaps?
@@roguebritgravy1 impossible since Trek most likely wouldn't hit British airwaves til the following months after this serial was recorded and broadcast
@@SuperWolsey a coincidence?
@Laurie Swanson *_"Vulcan the home of the SPOCK"_* Vucan is the Roman Blacksmith of the gods, god of fire, volcanoes and metalworking. It is where we get the word volcano. {:-:-:}
Fascinating.
Is this from the animated dvd? Does it have telesnap reconstructions of all 6 episodes?
Love these more than animations one day they might use digital actors like in star wars
Why?
@@JAProductions494 because its more realistic
@@PirateB99999 sadly i dont think the bbc would spare that much
Thank you for uploading this! As happy as I am that they bothered to animate this story, it's wonderful (& important) to be able to see what little is left of the original. Hope the rest of the story is coming!
One day... We’ll get it back one day. Even if it’s just this episode.
I heard that the story was sent to Singapore back in the late 60s, but along with other missing stories including tenth plant episode 4 were never returned back to the BBC and their fate is unknow.
@@joelrichardson3761 i think those episodes are in the hands of private film collectors Edit: they are in the hands of private film collectors
@@plushiemariobros7547 if those episodes aren’t confirmed to be junked or destroyed then it’s likely they are in private collectors hands
@@blairm383 or maybe the tv stations still have them in there archives
@@plushiemariobros7547 maybe but I hope they still exist somewhere
I love how he keeps saying things the first doctor did as things the doctor used to do. I’d love to see a recently regenerated doctor in the new series do that.
I'd love to see a new regenerated Doctor! Full stop!
Gatwa is good! @@andygaines9686
It's like survivor's guilt...but you only survived yourself. "Oh, I don't look like him;" he sounds unsure how to feel about it all.
