For this project, I decided to redesign the sound of the UI, SFX, and foley, as well as to compose new battle music to accompany the action. In other words, everything you hear was me! My goal was to stay true to the source material’s unique visual aesthetic, which utilizes both realistic and retro design elements.

The very first time I heard of an EWI was in a video I saw probably 15 years ago of saxophonist Jeff Kashiwa playing this piece. Now that I finally own one myself, I wanted to record a rendition of the same piece that introduced me to the instrument! Hope you enjoy :)

I loved the cutscenes in the new Kirby game, but was surprised to hear that they use very little traditional sound design. So I decided to add some myself! Ocarina of Time has some of the most iconic music in the Zelda franchise, and this is no exception! I've actually never fully completed OOT so I wasn't as familiar with Sheik's Theme, but when a friend recommended it I loved it right away. Hey! Just wanted to further clarify that this technique is especially helpful for game audio due to its interactive nature where the timing, especially during gameplay, can’t be predicted. Using a compressor like this is one of the best ways to do this effectively, and would be handled by whatever audio engine (middleware or in-game) you’re using.
