What is the ratio of Lyme to water, or do you just keep mixing in more Lyme until it turns to a yogurt consistency?

Can anyone speak to the differences in dolomitic vs high calcium hydrated lime for making lime putty for plaster rather than fresco paint?

Can you use autoclave finish lime or is that also problematic?
not sure what you mean by "autoclave finish lime" - its pretty much the same as type-S (dolomitic limestone with high magnesium content) in the video, just developed for the finishing polish layer. in my opinion it would be even less paintable. We have to keep in mind that "high" quality in specs applies to construction needs - no industrial lime producer has been developing products (lime) for anything but construction or food and medical industries
do you know how to make ready mix joint compound(putty), I wish to learn how to do this, maybe if you can help me find where I can can research for it. By the way, excellent video this putty is amazing I will surely be using it in my mini construction projects :).
joint compound is gypsum based and can not be used in fresco, however you can by the dry powder in building supply store
Thank you for your kind words. Yes, there are always sketches and studies left from each of my works. I put them away in a flat file and various people buy them too. There is to be a major show next year of The LA Fine Arts Squad and Kent Twitchell possibly at the Fullerton Museum. It will have photographs of many of our various public murals as well as studies, sketches and probably videos. It is being curated by Alice Emmons.
This project is sooo cool. Your attention to detail is amazing and you can see the quality in the final result. Best wishes for its completion. What a gift to the city. Do you ever sell your drawings or studies? Maybe an art show/gallery exhibit is in order. Haven't it been a long time since you did something like that?

99 cents per gallon - hardly a fortune, however, the point is - for best results, water should be clean and free from salts
You could just let it slake overnight like they did in the old days!
in the "old" days they used CaO - quick lime to turn it into CaHO2 - calcium hydroxide from which the plaster is later made, what this video is about is contemporary, building grade dry form of CaHO2 - calcium hydroxide, called type-S lime
