Thank you for watching and commenting!!
Pretty smooth operation. My operation is similar. Same log pile pushed up with the skidder but for splitting I use an older New Holland skidloader with a salvaged splitter beam welded on upside down on the mounting plate. It allows me to do the splitting sitting down. If I have to haul the wood I use a cut off single axle grain truck that I fashioned a hitch on and run the hoist with an electric pump. Pull it behind the Dodge PU.
That’s awesome! Sounds like you have a pretty good setup over there! The equipment sure helps speed things up! Thanks for watching and commenting!!
Buen video. Nice
Muchas gracias!!
I did that work for 41 very long years now I'm about a Is cripple
WOW! I salute you sir! That's a lot of years working on skidder tires!! Check out the full, long form video of you haven't seen it. Thanks for watching and commenting!!
When does your skidder get a name??
We've been calling it "La Avispa" "The Hornet"
@@niemiwoodsExcellent!
If you used 6 ft chokers you wouldn't have to pull the choker bells over the fairlead roller. I ran 7 bells and 6 chokers. The next to the last bell was left empty for oversize wood.
Roger that! Thanks for watching and commenting!!
Can I suggest that you do not use the extension between the gun and the socket. It happened to me when attempting to remove nuts
That's a good point! I have definitely had issues with using a 1/2 drive extensions absorbing the blows from an impact gun. This being a 3/4 drive impact extension I didn't think it would be an issue but it could have been. I will try going direct to socket next time, if space allows. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Enjoyed the video! Lots of "been there done that" for me. You'll need to have someone show you how to adjust the slack adjusters. This nifty little apparatus changes the position of the S cam...mostly used to control the length of canister stroke as the shoes wear. When pulling a brake drum the slack adjusters are used to back off the S cam so that the ridge on the outside of the drum will slide easily over the shoes.
Yes Sir! The canister clevis pin was rusted up solid and not letting things move the way they are supposed to. Thanks for watching and commenting!!
Buen video. Nice
Muchas Gracias! 😊
Thats cool, i like it! Good video, mate!
Thanks for watching and commenting amigo!!
Must have been an experience plowing in that beast. Wake up sleepy town!
Wakey Wakey!! Thanks for watching and commenting!!
That's a sweet noise ya got there man
Love my Screaming Jimmys!! Thanks for watching and commenting!!
Best part about that back in the day especially when ya did local work It's screaming at you coming down like a city street at about 100 mph and then it rolls by wound up completely in about 15 mph 🤣🤣🤣
Yes Sir, you're certainly right about that. Sounds like a top-fuel dragster on a quarter mile run when you roll by in third gear, like you said, doing about 15 mph!! Love my screamin' Jimmy's!! Thanks for watching and commenting!!
Beast mode!
She is a beast!
Love that sound. Now for the floorboards lol
Yes sir, I do need to address the floorboards at some point!! Thanks for watching and commenting!!
Maxi s-Cam Bendix the other comments are right, you put strings on off the axle and then put them on, way easier, but your screwdriver prying worked good, thanks BigAl California
I will keep that in mind and definitely do that next time. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Fortunately your truck wasn't equipped with Wedge brakes. Inline or 6V engine?
I’ll have to take your word for it, I’ve never worked on wedge brakes. 6-71 inline, thanks for watching and commenting!
Put the spring on first. The springs on the pin end are easy since they are on the outside.
Ok, I will keep that in mind! Thanks for watching and commenting!!
Strong winches are for the woods sloppy winches are for the bed room !
Roger that!
I hope to see the truck drive again!
You will, I’ve been working on it and putting together another video of my progress and road test. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I changed the fluid in the winch housing and the gear box on my 66 tree farmer last year. Works great now...good luck
That’s awesome! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Buen video
Muchas gracias!
Nice
Thank you!
Congrats on the repair! Sometimes I've had to make several trips to the woods before I worked the kinks out of mine. As badly as the old Gearmatics are maligned they do have one of the strongest brake setups available. When winching in the mainline the spring loaded band self releases because of the forward (CW) rotation of the brake drum. As soon as the clutch bands are released the reverse (CCW) rotation of the loaded cable drum will cause the spring loaded brake band set to self wrap the brake drum instantly. The heavier the load the tighter it holds. Of course the brake bands have to properly grip the drum to accomplish this.
Yes Sir! Absolutely correct, a great design! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Pretty good tutorial on the brake side of the older Gearmatic winches. I've got a Can-Car 20 on my C5 Tree Farmer...pretty much the same winch with a few minor changes being made. I see you keep your winch tarped which has worked for your benefit as rust and corrosion in the band chamber is a well known problem on these winches. I'm thinking the juice that you cleaned off the bands came from the brake release cylinder. They are easy to reseal as they use automotive style brake cylinder cups that are readily available. I enjoyed watching the older equipment.
Yes Sir, I do believe that you are correct on the source of my oily brakes. Check out my next video, if you haven’t seen it, where I take the skidder out to try the winch out after I put it back together. Thanks for watching and commenting!!
Your 100% correct climbing back there is an added risk. I do that here in Maine when the snow is deep. I walk up and down the hitch of wood onto the frame. Last year I slipped and slid down my back tire. I had a carhartt coat and hooded sweatshirt under that and the chains opened my back up in several spots. It looked like a grizzly bear swatted me. Bruised and scraped all up. Hurt so bad I almost puked.
Ouch! Yes sir! That is exactly the kind of thing that I envisioned when I was climbing up there! This type of work is dangerous enough without adding more foolishness to it. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Looks like you have easy access at least. Guessing that housing will be full of gear oil. Can’t wait for the next step.
Check out the full video, there’s a link to it in the short
When Your old enough to finally afford all the tools..then you don't have any straight trees left...hahahaha...such is life..

There’s a board or two in there. Just got a find it. Enjoy brother
Roger that...Thanks!!
Spalted at the end too. Nice
Oh yeah!! I still have more of these logs to cut too! Thanks for watching and commenting!!
What’s holding the wood in place from sliding around?
If you look closely there’s a hydraulic “log spike” that grabs ahold of the Kant. There’s a better view of the log spike in my last short, check it out. Thanks for watching and commenting!
How do you come across this? Do you have to know someone at the mill or something?
No, I cut the log myself. When I cut it I screwed up and cut it too short. I was not happy because it was a veneer log! Anyway, I saved it to put on my own mill so it wouldn’t be a total loss. Thanks for watching and commenting!!
Looks like some good weather to saw in. You got a project for the lumber, or is it for sale? Take care Mr.
Yes sir, August is a great time here in the U.P.!! I'm cutting these mostly for my own use at this time. Just salvaging these rejected logs that would have either been firewood or rotted in the woods. Thanks for watching and commenting!!
“Wellerman” is a great tune!
Yes it is! Thanks for watching and commenting!!
cool
Thanks for watching and commenting!!
firewood? Must have one helluva splitter
I generally cut my waste logs into blocks with the chainsaw, and drag my splitter into the woods before hauling them. They're much easier to handle that way. Thanks for watching and commenting!
That mill is set up very well. What do they run for cost like that?
My brother and I bought this B20 new from the factory almost twenty years ago. I believe the base price was around 25K back then but we got the computer set works and the de-barker as well so maybe a couple grand more. Timberking doesn't make the B20 anymore, I believe the "2000" replaced it. I haven't looked at prices on those, not sure what they go for. Thanks for watching and commenting!!
Congratulation
Thanks you!!
Always nice to watch a good operator. Good video
Thank you for watching and commenting!
So jealous! Very nice mill. I have a homemade bandsaw mill that can get the job done but it’s a lot of friggin work! 😂
Absolutely! The hydraulics really speed things up and make moving the logs a breeze. Kudos on building your own mill! Thanks for watching and commenting!
That thing is really set up well. Is there anything it cannot do as far as manipulation for best log use?
The Timberking B20 is a great sawmill and it handles/manipulates the logs very well. It has two engines: 27 horse drives just the blade and a five horse runs all of the hydraulics. I forget the max diameter it will take but it's somewhere around 36" and it will cut 16+ foot long logs. One thing I don't like about it is that the crossmembers are four feet apart which is ok for normal size logs but for odd size/short logs it's a bit to widely spaced. I plan to add additional crossmembers every two feet. Also the debarker is poorly designed. It works great on big logs but does nothing on smaller logs. I plan to redesign it at some point...if I live long enough that is!! Thanks for watching and commenting!!
@@niemiwoods you and me both on the "live long enough" thing!
Roger that!!
I've never sawn oak it doesn't grow here. Slow and steady im guessing? They'd be heavy.
The TK B20 cuts hardwoods like Oak very well. I do go easy as to not stress the blade more than necessary. Thanks for watching and commenting!
That power log turner ( known by several names including some socially unacceptable ones) works very well.
The Timberking B20 has a great hydraulic log turner, it will turn the log either way! Unlike some other mills log turners which only turn one way.
Loving the TimberKing. I dream of having a sawmill. Enjoy brother
Thanks! It’s a great little sawmill! I will have some more sawmill videos coming out soon. Thanks for watching and commenting!!
where did you get the prybars?

I remember that on the long video. Nothing fast and easy about that job.
