Hi! I'm Peter, a 16 year old hobbyist game developer from Scotland. I'm currently using Unity to build Arboneer, a pixel art survival sandbox inspired by games such as Terraria and Stardew Valley. I make devlogs showcasing its development as well as giving some useful tips where I can.

In this video I'll be showcasing the improvements made, as well as discussing the future of my channel and what it means for the final release. I hope you all enjoy, and thanks so much for all of your support! 💚

Implementing the Essentials | Devlog 5
Переглядів 7 тис.21 день тому
Hi everyone, and welcome back! I know it's been slightly over "a month", but today I'll be covering how I went about implementing the essential mechanics of my game - the main menu, settings, and saving and loading of worlds. My game has now also been officially named and so I'll show the title art that I drew for it. Be sure to stay tuned for the demo which will be coming out soon, but most im...
Simulating an ENTIRE Ecosystem... | Devlog 4
Переглядів 81 тис.3 місяці тому
Hey again, I've returned with another devlog after 4 months! In that time I've been working on a custom pathfinding algorithm, complex behaviour trees, and my own task system for the entities in my game. Today I'll be showcasing the new behaviours as well as the very basic combat system and a few other general improvements I made. Enjoy! 😄 🛠️ Optimization Changelog: • Moved all sprites to sprit...
I Made a Summoning Game in UNDER 48 HOURS | Ludum Dare 55
Переглядів 15 тис.4 місяці тому
Hey guys, I recently (like 3 weeks ago) took part in Ludum Dare 55 and had to make a game themed around 'Summoning'. In this video I'll showcase my entry as well as the crazily rushed process of creating it in under 48 hours. Hopefully you can take something away from this (not to enter game jams), but anyway - enjoy! 🤣 🎮 If you'd like to play the game: ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/55/elementary...
Switching Game Engines... | Devlog 3.5
Переглядів 6 тис.5 місяців тому
Uploaded this a bit later than expected, but all good! Anyway, I've finally made the decision to port my entire game over from Unity after months putting up with a buggy engine and dodgy management team! Today I'll be showcasing how that went - what was my reasoning? What difficulties did I encounter? And most importantly - was it all worth it? 👀 On a more serious note: I'm not actually switchi...
How Adding NPCs Improved my Game's Immersion | Devlog 3
Переглядів 10 тис.7 місяців тому
Hey guys, welcome to the third devlog on my pixel art survival sandbox. Today I'll be showcasing some of the systems I've been working on over the past month and a bit: NPC spawning, daily routines, notifications, and most importantly - dialogue. I'll give a simplified explanation of how each system works, as well as discussing any difficulties I encountered while programming them. Hopefully yo...
From Scratch to Unity - How I Learned Game Development at Just 12 Years Old
Переглядів 6 тис.7 місяців тому
Hey guys! If you're new here, welcome; if you've seen my game, hopefully this answers some of your questions. Today I'll be discussing my journey - when I started coding, how I learned Unity at 12 years old and how I'm now developing my own indie game at 15. I'll try to give some advice which should be helpful to any aspiring game developers. Hopefully this helps and encourages you to start lea...

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Welcome to the second devlog for my pixel art survival sandbox. Recently, I've been adding buildings and furniture to my game, as well as fixing multiple bugs. In this video I show off some of the art I made for the housing, as well as sharing some difficulties I encountered and decisions I had to make along the way. 1 Year Developing my Dream Indie Game | Devlog 1
Переглядів 173 тис.10 місяців тому
Hey everyone! Welcome to the first devlog for my pixel art survival sandbox I'm developing using Unity. I'm Peter, I'm 15, and for the past year I've been working on my first indie game in my free time. In this video, I show off the core features of my game, and give some insight into the history of the project. I also focus a bit on the coding, giving some potentially useful tips on one method...
thx bro
congats dude so cool
jsut played it for a little while. It s super nice and overall fells great, 2 problems tho the music aint playing and when i died i respawned randmoly ( it seems like it). other thing the slime take way too much time to attack to be really dangerous. amazing work, keep up !!
I recommend increasing the size of the transparency bubble around the player when walking behind solid objects. It'll feel a lot better for players if they have a least a little more warning when they walk up to an obstructing object and have some notice before being ambushed.
A cool thing would be if you make a gameplay series
Dude, I'm also 16 and I also develop games. It's soooo nice to find people that have the same interests I have! Btw, your game looks incredibly good
Finally!
Nah u are a maniac
Does the game have sound? If so it doesnt seem to be working for some reason for me
It's getting amazing, I'm looking forward to new versions with NPCs and character customizations. What I really missed was the map, I created my house, went to a cave and when I came back I didn't find my house. Hello from Brazil straight from Rock in Rio!
Demo is up!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
It looks absolutely amazing, good luck with the rework!
LOVE the visuals, especially the tree trunks, rocks, and UI. That smelting menu was clean, 10/10. I'm so glad that you're looking to add multiplayer and modding support since those features tend to bring a ton of people to games that otherwise wouldn't play by themselves. Great job, looking forward to your next updates!
This is one of the rare times where I wish a game was paid only. No "name your own price" itch stuff.
Thanks, but I just don't feel there's really enough gameplay yet 🤣
Great game! 👍
absolutely lovely game btw lovely graphics, it's definitely your strong point still need some adjustements but really good for your age
insane progress ! im always impressed by what you achieve. keep it up bro
Lets gooo A Demo To Play, I have been Waiting for so long...
This is great! Sadly I can't play because I'm on mac. Are you considering adding mac (and maybe linux) support in the near future?
I can look into it, and if it's not too much effort to port, then yes. Otherwise no though
@@sigmoiddev Great!
What is this task manager his using?
Milanote - all of my software's in the description
u can try another survival game that could inspire you named core keeper , btw the game seems to have a lot of potential gj edit if we want to report a bug where should we do so ?
Yeah, I saw ChippyGaming's videos on it and it looks like an incredible game. If you do find any bugs you can post them wherever - here in the comments, on the itch.io comments, in my Discord server, etc
good stuff
hi, what mic do you use? i want to start my own channel but it would definitely require better mic (not a smartphone as a mic). thanks

I just tested the demo now, and I loved it! Congrats on what you've achieved so far!! :)
Pretty crazy progress, generally speaking, especially for your ago. Wish you best of luck with your Game 🙂
Still jealous...
Phenomenal work especially considering you are only 16! I am currently finishing my bachelors thesis and got to work on VR game development and it was hell of a blast, I would love to try and start some project myself in Godot with own Pixel art too, so mad respect for how far you have come already! Keep up the work and don’t stress yourself we won’t go nowhere :)
I can't believe you're 16 years old, the quality of this game is way high! If you are take this as a compliment
Abd I am older thqn you abd feel anazed and powerless as I don't got these skills
sorry for my typos
This is awesome.. These days i don't have free time to play your game. But i 100% guarantee as soon as i have some time i will play the demo <3
Steam page soon?
Maybe in a while
Huge respect for everything. How far you got and even released the game! 🥹 I have like thousand projects started and never released anything lol. Small Tipp maybe, you could add directly in the game feedback form so people can send you a small feedback of how they like the game or what they wish or if they found bugs. Or just add a clickable discord link in main menu. ☺️
Thanks, and that's a pretty good idea!
Great job! I'm really proud of you! 🎉 You're turning 16? I'm still 14 and already into programming😋.
cant wait for it to be finished
Take as much as a break from UA-cam as much as you need! I understand how hard game dev can be sometimes (no where near as close as you, cause I just did a game jam once), so if that’s what you think you need to do to be able to make your game, then do it. I wish yo7 the best of luck and can’t wait for future updates!
You are 16 🤪
Amazing work, especially for your age!
this looks so good i acnt wait for the full release!!!
great job.
So this is why you haven't left your room in a month!
Exactly! After this though it'll just be touching grass for weeks straight (trust)
@@sigmoiddev I call cap
Quick question. I’ve probably already asked this, but is this planned to release on Xbox once it’s complete?
I'll look into it, but it really depends cause I believe it's quite difficult developing for any console
@@sigmoiddev understood 👍
Good job on the game!
This is inspiring me to learn another engine than Roblox studio
keep on the great work cant wait for the release😁
damn, your game real complex
Someone made terraria on scratch
Your cut scenes are great 😂
Literally the worst thing with development is simple errors leading to hours of why the hell isn't this working... oh... 😐
I pretty much use chatgpt for my code since idk how to code lol
yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay
