It seems that there's a difference in how the macro approaches slicing the two clips. The first (unstretched) one sliced in sample one using one audio file, while the 2nd (time-stretched) one was actually sliced and rendered into multiple files. Am I correct?

This was a really cool tip and technique! I have a question about detecting the tempo of a track/audio clip/loop in StudioOne 5: How do I set up my project, audio file, etc, to the formatting that will allow me to take my sample (a track that I do not know the tempo of upon loading into a StudioOne track), slice a piece/loop of this track, then move the tempo up and down until I find the original tempo of that piece/sample chop/audio clip before any time stretching occurs? This is how I find the original tempo in other DAWS, but it doesn't work in StudioOne Pro 5 (I recently upgraded from Pro 3 thinking the upgrade would resolve this issue). Please & Thank you in advanced!
deselect the follow tempo box on the track inspector
also free sample manager by adsr. check it out it sometimes list the tempos of samples in its tag system. highly recommend,
Send your audio to melodyne (monophonic/no chords or chorus in melodyne essential) then drag to the groove Q...then back to an instrument track
