Finishing off some tires with a 1964 Chevy ii Nova. It's running a tired 350/th350, you can hear it fall on its face when it hit 3rd. Made lots of smoke though!
1950 Chevy truck on S10 chassis build compilation
Переглядів 23 тис.3 роки тому
This was a customer's Grandpa's 1950 Chevrolet 5 window truck. He wanted a no fuss daily driver. We used a Code 504 S10 frame swap kit to transplant the 1950 body onto a 2000 S10 while keeping the fuel injected 4.3 v6 and the 4l60e transmission. I used the S10 wiring harness and steering column and swapped in some Dakota Digital gauges. Overall it's a reliable and great driving vehicle.

Found an old 97 f350 xl dually with a 7.5L. gonna try and restore it if i can, lotta rust damage.
Looks like the wheelbase is too short as well as too narrow
Hi how are you doing? I’m looking to do the same thing and use my 4.3 and 4l60e trans. How was it running all the wiring and everything else? That’s the only thing holding me back from doing it. I’m not an electrical guy.lol. Wondering if I can find a color coded wiring diagram to see what wires I need and ones I don’t. I just want it to run and drive. Don’t want to use A/C. Also did you use the S10 steering column? Looks like it in the video? If so what did you use to hold it up, and looks like you used the brake booster also, did you use the S10 pedals? Was it a real pain to do? What was the hardest part? I’m not talking about the cab and bed swap. My main issue is wanting to use my drive train. Thank you very much, I appreciate any help that you could give me. Thanks again 👍🏼
Well that's one way to check lol all though Sometimes even in an open differential both tires might brake loose especially when it's wet. The best way is to lift up the car and spin the wheels especially if you can spin the wheels in park and they spin in opposite directions then you know it's an open differential for sure lol all though there's still a possibility it's a limited slip differential with worn out clutches lol from doing stuff like that lol.
What year s10 did you use?
4th gear damn !!!
My 460 has no trouble lighting them up on dry pavement
Right, Don't need no Stinking Water. BBF Power !
mine definitely could but i got too much wheel hop, hoping to get traction bars to fix that next summer, i got new tires so i dont wanna ruin them ;)
Did the Dakota Gauges mate with the S10 wiring harness?
Some did and some didn't. You have to use Dakota digitals little proprietary control box. But ultimately you have to add their water temp sensor and maybe one or two more. It wasn't bad.
Didn't your momma tell you that dirt turns to mud when it rains 😜
LOL Looks good to me !
Sounds good.
that is so cool
желаю что бы вам было хорошо в его восстановлении
интересный грузовик
Nice truck. I recently purchased a 92 F350 dually with a 460. That is a nice paint job on that.
Awesome! This one is now battleship grey with a 12v cummins. It can smoke 37's now. The original paint job in the video was fading but it was still pretty sweet!
@@buildsnburnouts6046 did you ever have issues with your rear abs? My yellow rear abs light comes on after cranking. Wondering if I have a wiring issue or if my tone ring is bad in the rear. I replaced the sensor and it fixed it for a day then returned
Nicely done & 53 looks to have good "metal"!
Was it a direct bolt on or did you have to cut s10 frame
If you get the correct single cab long bed chassis you do not need to section the frame.
Cummin engine
where are you located?
Medford Oregon
@@buildsnburnouts6046 @ do u need spacers? At all wheels?? Is it too narrow the s10??
The s10 is too narrow front and back. You need to use spacers on all the wheels depending on your backspacing. You could also switch to a 4wd rear end which may eliminate the back wheel spacers.
@@buildsnburnouts6046 @ agree,, i dnt lije too narrow, looks like a lowrider,,,😩😩 What’s the other option??
Why? That was a perfect landing!
Lol, I forgot to air up one of the front tires and it turned hard into the fender of the trailer before bashing down on the ramps. Luckily nothing got damaged!
This exactly what I want to do.
I thought it would be complicated but once you figure out the general idea it wasn't too bad.
@@buildsnburnouts6046 I just pulled my cab and chassis in the garage, going to start rebuilding the motor I got. But after I strip the chassis and lay it over the frame this is exactly what I plan to do. Especially the hand pump, keep it nice and simple.
Yep, I was concerned about lifting the cab if I had a dead battery. It turned out great and isn't any harder than jacking a car off the ground. Make your ram mounts super beefy! I believe I ordered to 3/8" offroad shock tabs and welded them together on either side of the mount for a total of 4 per end. I ripped off a few prior to that and broke or bent some lesser bolts.
@@buildsnburnouts6046 I just really need to figure out what length to get for a ram, Guess I will get to that point once I start mocking up
How did your truck turn out and what kind of engine do you have on chassis 👍
Truck turned out to be a great driver. Kept the 4.3 v6 and the 4l60 transmission. Drives just like a 2000 s10.
Kudos from a '53 5 window daily driver for pulling it off & putting it on.
How long did it take you to build?
This was a customer's car and it took about 9 months. It could go faster but he wanted to keep the 4.3 and 4l60 and i wanted to keep the factory wiring harness and steering column for reliability. If you went with a 350/th350 it'd be much quicker.
What size tire is on the runner?
285/70/17
Amazing!!! I got a 1965 Acadian Canso Sport Deluxe (extremely rare canadian nova equivalent) with the 194. Working on it currently. Cant wait to get-nit on the road. These cars are beautiful!
I really enjoyed that engine, especially when I swapped in the 5 speed with it. It would have been fun to add a turbo to it.
Nice work man!! Where's the burnout video in the finished truck?
Nice job! It's beautiful! I can't wait to see how the shifter gets in the cab with all the attachments. Please show that as well.
There is a detailed build thread here. Basically all the cables, wires and brake lines have to move with the hinge point. The truck is on the road now. www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/1955-white-3000-coe-hauler-build.1176462/
@@buildsnburnouts6046 Thank you very much. I also bought an f550 for the front and rear end. I appreciate your help here. Looking forward to end my project! I am doing it with a 1964 ford COE.
@@josetapaia3945 interesting, send me a link if you can. Only problem was the oddball lug pattern... depending on the year it was difficult to find wheels for. Finally adapted it to a 22.5" rim but it wasn't cheap.
@@buildsnburnouts6046 Absolutely. As soon as get around it I will. This will be my first built. My F550 is a 2008. After this one I will do the same with my 54 Chevy COE and last my 64 International Loadstar. I appreciate your help.
That truck's turning radius is just as good as a fat karen at a buffet.
Lol, it was rubbing the drivers tire when steering in this video. I re made the bell crank so it now it goes lock to lock without rubbing. Much better now!
That truck is so cool, I think it would be very satisfying to restore it...
I always wondered! 🤣
I haven't been following the vids as I wanted to.What kind of chassis is this cab mounted on? There used to be an AMT model kit( Authentic Model Turnpike) , based on a 3000 White w/ an Allison 12 cylinder aircraft engine called Allison Thunderland, a pun on ( Alice in Wonderland). These White's were big in their day.Made from 1953 to 1966 w/ Super Power gas and later also Cummins power w/ electric assisted tilt cab.
The frame is the stock 1955 White frame. It's nice and beefy with tons of real estate to mount whatever drivetrain combo you want in there. Never understood why you would frame swap it. The 12v cummins fit nicely and the f550 axles weren't very hard to get under it as well. Mine was a flathead straight 6 mustang engine with the electric cab tilt. The electric ram was missing so I could never try it and the wiring was pretty ugly as well. We did get the flathead 6 running and it purred like a kitten until we yanked it. The clutch and brake hydraulics were too weird for me to be able to get them rebuilt to drive around the yard.
Merica!
When you unintentionally discover that a Sebring doubles as a rock crusher. It's the gift that keeps on giving.
i'm at the point on my 12 valve install on 53 white 3000 I would like too know what you used for a radiator and intercooler and is you steering box original power type i got this as a partial build basket case with roof damage from a tree landing on it since repaired I would greatly appreciate any info you can provide thanks again bob botai
