    I have to wonder is heating to a lower temperature would be effective. Not as a finish but to reduce the sanding required.I am wondering if a thin coating of automotive windshield repair or even uv treated epoxy would fill the craze (the stuff used for making "river tables etc.). I have glass in my 1969 boat, so no sanding for me. :)

    Something I've been curious about how to do for a long time! I also have a Bavaria, and for a long time have wanted to upgrade the bow roller to add an attachment point for a headsail. Is there any chance you could share the cad file? This Bavaria is a 49 from 2003, so it's similar...

    I really wish people would stop referring to "Amps" when talking about their electrical charging systems on boats. It's irrelevant without the voltage. Talk about Watts.

    Richard, thanks a lot. Extremely nice looking. And strong? You mention you can stand on it? And what was the weight of it approx.? I want to make one for our boat here in Norway. As a newbie, do you think I can make it in a fall? The temperature can also drop to zero before December. Thanks a lot again! 🤩❤️

      I can stand on the corners where the tubes are. The middle area is thin about 2 mm, so not possible to stand on. The ideal temperature for fiberglass work is about 18 degrees.

    After finding your channel a couple of hours ago, I have benged watched several episodes. Before continuing with my benge watching, I wanted to congratulate you on your work. Your attention to detail is outstanding and impressive. I also want to say how similar the interior layout of your Bavaria 44 to my 1996 Beneteau 42s7 three cabin layout. Watching your videos is inspiring me to make changes on my Beneteau. Thank you.

    Looks good. I am thinking of doing something similar..... but smaller ;) I have less room for panels, batteries, and equipment. I like the higher voltage panels to lower voltage batteries. The charge controller starts producing power earlier. In my case I am aiming for less power use. Fridge, lights, nav, computer are about it. I do have an inverter but it is not generally used all the time. Mostly the odd power tool. The 500 watt inverter is not enough but was pretty close, so 1000w will do. 29 ft boat is both shorter and narrower than yours but just right for our use right now.

    I have 1600 watts of solar already on my boat at a solar arch at the stern area. I am going to add another group of panels of the same power as a hardtop. But without any fiberglass. Just panels joined at edges are more than enough strong and stable. My current installation is proven to withstand 60 kts winds wihout even moving a milimeter and i have travelled quite a lot in last 4 years. I upgraded this year my 1400 ah gel to 1500 ah lifepo4 and it is almost perfect - but with extra 1600 watts solar I will be able to add an a/c and enjoy comfort at the anchor at those particularly hot nights. With my current installation I run everything incl. Icemaker and watermaker and electric cooking. The boat is heavy old 46'. My friend has 4 kW of solar at his cat and he even uses the dishwasher.

      Wow sound fantastic. I plan to add a large alternator to the main engine for backup and charging after days of low sunlight. At the moment we can only recharge our 900 amps via solar. On sunny days we run our 700w air conditioning and still are charging the batteries.

    Excellent video. Thank you for taking the time to produce and post it. Can you provide info re: the type of resin you used? Also, is the flange screwed or thru-bolted to the deck (I'm guessing it's screwed) and did you use any sealant/adhesive (5200) at the flange? Thanks again.

    • @SailingRebelStar
      @SailingRebelStar 20 днів тому
