Meet Rev. Luke, his wife Penelope and their daughter, Emily. They will be introduced to the parish group (Drumcliffe, Lissadell and Munninane) at a special united service led by Bishop Ferran on Sunday 27 August at 12 noon in Drumcliffe Church. His official title will be Assistant Curate to the Bishop. We are looking forward to welcoming Luke and his family and opening a new chapter of ministry...

A few memories from Malcolm's time in the Drumcliffe Group of Parishes. We thank him sincerely for all his work in the parish, his leadership and support in especially difficult times. The tourist chaplain "friendly priest", faithful friend and pastor, Malcolm will be welcome back in Drumcliffe, Lissadell and Munninane anytime.

I like his expression while nailing Coleman's style in the encore.

I heartily enjoyed this music. Beautiful, touching and awakening. The spirit of joy surrounds me.
"PromoSM"
from the bothy band, to if the cap fits, up to the very present, mr burke has been, is, and will always be, a treasure of humanity
I love a good open sounding fiddle
Enjoyed the chat as much as the tunes. Nice flow and great stamina- over an hour without a break- true professional.
" Lucy's fling" is a highland fling known as "Maggie Pickens". The song "Some say the devil's dead and buried in Killarney" comes from a Scottish strathspey known as "The braes of mars".
Wow absolutely stunning
Kevin you’re the best
Absolute perfection!
Welcome to you Re. Luke, Penny and Emily. Hpe to see you soon. Best wishes Kathy (live in Grange)
A beautiful hymn. Shame that the organ seems like a pathetic wheeze. They could've at least hired a decent digital sampled instrument given the V.IPs present!
Played me like a fiddle!
Brilliant. Thank you
this is great Kevin Burke !!! 💯💫
St Columba's Church is a parish church of the Church of Ireland, located in the village of Drumcliff, County Sligo
I will listen to this repeatedly as I read scripture, journal, and pray. Thank you! Live for Jesus!
mighty music!
He is incredible. I was fortunate enough to do sound for himself and Cal Scott. What a wonderful evening in the Potomac Highlands it was. My Irish DNA was re-awakened. I will always remember that night. What a blessing for us all. Just beautiful music. He did it all. If you get a chance to hear him, do it. He will not disappoint. He will whip the Devils rear end, back from out of the hole, the Devil crawled out of, for he is the bigger monster.
1 Be thou my vision, O Lord of my heart; naught be all else to me, save that thou art. Thou my best thought in the day and the night, waking or sleeping, thy presence my light. 2 Be thou my wisdom, be thou my true word; I ever with thee, and thou with me, Lord. Thou my great Father, and I thy true son, thou in me dwelling and I with thee one. 3 Be thou my breastplate, my sword for the fight. Be thou my armour, and be thou my might, thou my soul’s shelter, and thou my high tow’r. Raise thou me heav’nward, O Pow’r of my pow’r. 4 Riches I heed not, nor vain empty praise; thou mine inheritance, now and always. Thou and thou only, the first in my heart, High King of heaven, my treasure thou art. 5 High King of heaven, when the battle is done grant heaven's joy to me, O bright heav’n’s Sun! Christ of my heart, whatever befall, still be my vision, O Ruler of all. Blessings in Christ
Maestro😇
At 44:10: Kevin introduces Evening Prayer Blues, which he thought was a Bill Monroe tune, and turned out to be a tune by the African-American, Black, harmonica genius DeFord Bailey, who opened up the very first broadcast of the Grand Old Opry with an amazing harmonica rendition of the old bluegrass standby Turkey In The Straw. So this piece of music attributed to DeFord Baily is a gorgeous call-and response/field holler spiritual. Kevin plays it wonderfully. The DeFord Bailey version: ua-cam.com/video/dHK0ii3MZr4/v-deo.html
To be fair, the Monroe version he plays had been substantially reworked from Deford Bailey’s tune, enough to really make it its own piece. Monroe credited Bailey, but his version bares little resemblance to the original.
oh such wonderful music! What better fiddle magician than Kevin to play those musical gems of Ireland!
Could the sound possibly be worse?
Just found this beautiful concert Kevin Burke. Some years ago you did a workshop with us at @Comhaltas Melbourne an Irish Culture Day in Collingwood. Thanks so Much. Mary Fitzmaurice McBride ( Mayo)

We, the Shalom United Church of Christ in New Haven, CT, USA, will be mouthing the words of this beautiful and melodius hymn, while listening and watching via Zoom, to this wonderful rendition on UA-cam. As the name of our church indicates, we are a congregation dedicated to peace and reconciliation. Peace, salaam, shalom, Charlie
Lol, Zoom church.

Thank you for this performance!
Is it the Church mentioned by Yeats in "Under Ben Bulben"? I see the elevated pulpit favored by C of I on the left and a scarcity of idols ..?
Yes, this is the place!

this gig was awesome!
Glad you liked it Mike!
Could someone post the lyrics for this version? The words are slightly different from the one I have learned over here in America. I especially like him being like armor to us is included.
Exceptional!
