In this film, I show how it works, how it is photographed, and of course its reliability after 40 years. Pentacon Six TL - On the Way to Perfection
Переглядів 5 тис.Рік тому
A short documentary about the legendary Pentacon Six TL. The camera I'm talking about is family-owned. My father, being a professional, bought it in 1973. For more than 20 years the camera worked continuously and took thousands of pictures, all of them of high quality. It showed no defect and did not spoil. In the film, you will see an experiment to see if the camera still works after more than...

How to take picture with Kodak, Kodex No. 1
Переглядів 847Рік тому
This is a little experiment with Kodak, Kodex No. 1. In the film, you will see how to load it, how to work with it, and what kind of pictures will be obtained. This camera has never been used. The red window was riveted and you have no trace of the film movement. It is likely that the camera was only on display because the bellows were rubbed many times opening a cover. I also rewound the film ...

Beginners Guide To The Darkroom
Переглядів 428Рік тому
I made the first copies when I was eleven years old in 1971. My parents were photographers and we had a darkroom at home and that's where I learned the art of processing black and white photography. I closed the darkroom for good in 1990. Today, 33 years later, I decided to show the generations how the black and white photos were made. The film also includes the historical moments that lead to ...

Nice video. But the explanation is flawed. Always check the development times given in the data sheets (for the combination FP4+ and Ilfosol it is 4.15 min. - not 5). I recommend using the Massive Dev app with many combinations of films and developers. Most developers (like Ilfosol) can only used once, while stop bath and fixer can be used many times. If you use a stop bath you don't need to use water in between (but many people just use just water instead of a stop bath, using both is a waste of time). -- Washing aid helps you to avoid water streaks on the film. It does not(!) replace washing the film. Use the Ilford method for washing: Fill the tank with water, do 5 inversions, empty the tank, fill the tank with water, do 10 inversions, empty the tank, fill the tank with water, do 20 inversions, empty the tank, fill the tank with water, add a few(!) drops of washing aid, discard after a minute or so. -- "Agitation"/"Inversion" means smoothly(!) turning the tank upside down and back again, not just shaking it a bit back and forth. Ilford recommends inverting the tank for the first 30 seconds, then for 10 seconds every minute while developping and fixing the film.

Do not throw the trigger, but pull it back gently. The camera even with Soviet lenses gives an excellent picture. If it is handled with care and the film is inserted tightly, it can last a long time.

When loading film into the Praktica, just pull the film up to the green dot and not any further, lay the film on the spool below this metal thingy, so that this metal thingy stays fully visible. Then close the cover, wind once, pull the trigger, wind again. Now you can start shooting and this way get up to 39 exposures on an 36 exposures film.

Hello sir,I had question which camera would be better Praktica MTL3 with pentacon 50mm f/1.8 OR Vivitar v3000s with vivitar 50mm f/1.7

    • @yasenphotography
      @yasenphotography 7 місяців тому

Hi, I recommend the Vivitar v3000s with the vivitar 50mm f/1.7 because they are better made. Almost all Praktica models showed minor defects, but remember that all old cameras can show a defect due to the long pause. The mechanisms are drying out and I recommend that you work very carefully, and if you have the opportunity, have the camera inspected at a service center. Good luck!

There are not many 6x6 medium format SLRs that physically resemble normal 35mm SLR. Typically, they are in modular box form (Hasselblad, Bronica, etc). And the Noritar 66 with the famous 80/2 is really expensive nowadays. Well... perhaps I'll try the Pentacon Six.

This is one of my favorite cameras and I have been using them since they were first introduced in the 60s. I have owned several over the years. I currently have a 35S with a Sonnar lens loaded with either slide or color print film and two of the original 35s. Their Tessar lenses love black and white film, so one has Ilford HP5 and the other Kodak Tri-X.

Thank you for watching the video! These Kodak cameras run 620 film, where the roll diameter is about 2 mm smaller than 120 Film. Also, a hole for gripping the roll is quite different. I tried to reduce the diameter of the roller, but it did not work, there is a danger of light entering and damaging the tape. I found an original roll from another Kodak camera and in the darkroom, I rewound the roll onto the original reel, but this is dangerous because it can scratch the film strip. That's how I managed to shoot. I advise you to use the original 620-roll film, but unfortunately, they are much more expensive. //www.bristolcameras.co.uk/product/fpp-620-black-white-negative-film/

Another camera model series from the former GDR would be the Exakta Varex/VX series, especially the Exakta Varex IIb. The first model in this series was the world's first single-lens reflex camera (SLR) to be launched on the market, the Kine Exakta. In particular, its compact design and its wealth of functions and interchangeable viewfinders, as well as the extraordinary symbiosis of lenses and shutter release is more than ingenious. A video about it would be more than worthwhile, especially if you get into the cameras of the former GDR with the Praktica Super TL and the Pentacon Six TL, the Exakta Varex IIb should not be missing. Incidentally, I own both the Pentacon Six TL and the Ihagee Exakta Varex IIb myself and am more than satisfied with them.

Thank you for watching my video! I make these films with great sentimentality because they are part of the worldwide development of photographic technology. My parents are photographers and I had the opportunity to touch Exakta Varex and Contax - 1966 - 69. Later I became a photographer myself. And my stories are from my experience, as I am now also looking for a historical reference for each camera. The achievements of Exakta, Contax, Pentacon, Praktica dozens of lenses and accessories are very impressive, as well as with the revolutionary discoveries - first SLR, first TTL metering. And all this in Dresden. Undeservedly, these stories are almost forgotten, so as much as I have strength and opportunity I will try to tell in future videos. On this link ua-cam.com/video/UZqSUe4B93s/v-deo.htmlsi=SaLlcfDxzMaiIVBB is my story with Praktica Super TL.

@@yasenphotography Then I know what I can and may look forward to in the foreseeable future. I'll soon be giving my Exakta and my Pentacon a CLA, which my wife will be carrying out (she's the precision mechanic in our house with previous experience in camera technology / Braun's camera construction department), so that everything runs like clockwork again. I would also like to have the Pentacon Super TL, but it's not affordable for me at the moment. Either way, the camera brands from the former GDR are role models in many respects and in some cases unrivaled role models for cameras from all over the world, even today. Incidentally, I had already watched the videos on the Praktica and immediately watched them again. 🙂 By the way, I am also a trained photographer and after more than a decade I am currently getting back into the analog world so that I can use digital and analog equally in the future.
