@@deepwaterhappy3609 It is summer…When it is calm off shore and close to high tide…it can be amazing…It gets mostly crowded on weekend with the hi tide near noon

We just put wider tires; increased from 23 to 28. I picked up about 1.2 mph on 100 mile rides and shorter. But that could be because I wasn’t as tired from bouncing around. 😅

We have not stayed there recently. I contacted the owners, and had limited conversation. So, a couple months ago, we picked up a vacation rental behind the two story Publix. Also, the place that catered to divers across the main road closed. This next time, we will book a vacation rental on the island, or one close to the marinas.

I guess mine had lasted so long; I didn’t know all the “new technology” available! 😅

I would start with a NAUI, PADI, or SSI textbook. I recently re-read them as a refresher and to compare.

You bring up a really really good point. Emergency ascent, I suppose you can tug to release air; that’s what I always did anyway; I haven’t held my hand up over my head in ages to dump air… just got back from using the new rig. Octo kept falling out of the keeper. So you kept the SSI and added a separate octo. I wanted to do that; I like the SSI big buttons. My dive partner husband really wanted our rigs to be the same, so it’s now gone.

About five or six minutes just like my home version! Same! Pretty quick!

I didn’t mind if it looked repaired; part of the charm. Reduce reuse recycle repurpose? Two more broke in last month’s hurricane, so it looks like I’ll be repairing them as well.

This one was purchased used at a good price. I’m astounded at the high end prices! They do pack a lot of boat into the small platform. I think if you have good skills you could upgrade something similar to this level of comfort.

Prayed up like a one was tied up in construction, and this week I am excited to say I’m going to be undergoing the Coast Guard certificate of inspection maneuvers on Thursday!

@@deepwaterhappy3609 absolutely! If needed you can tape the packaging on 3 sides over the sucking chest wound.

@@deepwaterhappy3609 tape three edges. Tape it so it’s flat against the skin. Here are a couple videos on UA-cam that go over both the chest seal and making one out of plastic or aluminum foil packaging. 1: “NAR HyFin Vent Chest Seal Instructions” by North American Rescue. 2: “Occlusive Dressing” by VVC EMT In video 2 he uses the package from petroleum gauze but the same method will work for the HyFin chest seal packaging. Hope this helps. :)

Soak it then wring the water out so it’s saturated and makes steam. When it starts drying; rewet it.

I'm halfway through relinquishing my SS1 this month; my dive partner feels strongly about this. It's been hard - I like the large, easy-to-find buttons. I liked not having a big sweep of hose over my right shoulder. I've got the octo installed, but haven't removed the SS1 just yet. The main concern is controlling ascent speed, and not being able to get that line over my head if it's in someone's mouth - probably. mine. I did practice two weekends ago with breathing through it while dumping air from the shoulder.

@@deepwaterhappy3609 How did it work out? I like being streamlined….I would like to not have to oct to deal with. If you were using the SS1 in a serious situation, then you would not be dumping air, is my thought. So, is this a moot point?

@@rebeccaweatherbee3946 well, if I’m sharing air, someone is on my main reg, and I’m on the SS1. So, I can pull on it and dump air from the shoulder. However, I can’t hold it over my head to dump air while sharing air during an emergency ascent. What do you think? Right now I have two octo and the SS1 because I wasn’t quite ready to give up the SS1 due to big east buttons, close location. I did notice the second octo is really out there dragging a big loop of hose.
