Freshly sanded Box Elder bowl, ready for a first coat.
The spalting was encouraged after roughing 8 months ago.
Sanded with 80, 120, 180, 220, 320, and 400.

that's probably uncomfortable to wear, especially with that hook sticking out the back. Really like the wood though, is padauk hard to work with? i've heard it shifts color after exposure to sunlight, did the color change much with this piece?

If you make your inlay the same thickness as your blade, the knot will line up better. Thanks for posting the video.

Not criticizing because I do the exact same thing, but pull up that left sleeve so it doesn't get caught in the chuck! Nice chuck to hold the piece when you did the back! I made a similar one to hold napkin rings but I slide up the tailstock with a 60 degree center to spread the fingers on it.
