Very refreshing perspective. Having so much “haul” is just too consumptive. Thank you.
I’ve been thinking to stop buying more than I could possibly stitch. Your video is very inspiring . Now I making my list of no buys
GREAT IDEAS to be intentional about not buying stuff just because.... I'm making myself a list of 2025 No Buys too!!!
Thank you! I will be cheering you on with your list of no buys! Happy Stitching in 2025! Thanks so much for watching!
thanks for the review <3
You’re welcome! I hope it helped. Thanks so much for watching!
Great plan!
Thank you so much! I hope I stick to it! I’ll keep you updated! Thanks so much for watching!!
Just the video I was looking for. Thx for sharing! ❤ 🛎️
So glad this helped a bit! Thank you so much for watching!!
I am planning a 2025 low buy year as well. For everything.
That’s great! I hope it goes well for you! I’ll be cheering you on and right along side you! Thank you for watching!
I absolutely love this idea! I’m going to have to sit down and work on a low buy.
Me too!
Yay! I’m so glad. I will be cheering you on! Thank you so much for watching!
I must strive to be like Melissa. But Needlework Market is in three months. I must finish my two new year new starts and my historical sampler company Sal. And take inventory of the monster first. Of course, that means finding it all!
You’re going to have a great Stitchy year! Your stash isn’t a monster, it’s a unicorn filled with magical things! Thanks so much for watching!
Love this! I’m doing a low buy 2025 too. I just have so much stuff 😩 I’m hoping to get back into stitching next year. 😊
Yay! I will be cheering you on! I hope you get to do some fun stitching next year! I always loved seeing your projects! Thanks so much for watching!
Love this! I’m doing a low buy 2025 too. I just have so much stuff 😩 I’m hoping to get back into stitching next year. 😊
Hi Stitching Lis, Success with this list in 2025 :) It will be fun to review this list mid year to see how the rule of 5 is working and how the thrift finds for FFO's :) are turning out ! Have fun stitching !
Thank you so much! I will definitely update you on my progress during the year! I hope I can stick to my goals! Thanks so much for your support!
I am having 2025 being my strictly thrifting year. ..for kits, fabric ,patterns,, ect... Only floss will come new if needed. I have plenty of everything, however, cannot pass on a good thrifting deal:). Happy stitching.
That’s such a great plan! I love thrifting too! I am cheering you on! Thanks so much for watching!
Wow! You have inspired me to have a low buy year in 2025! I have so much and have overindulged also! I also plan to destash and share with my stitchy group. Thanks for the great idea! ❤
Yay! That’s great! I will be cheering you on! I love the idea of sharing with your Stitchy group! They will be so appreciative! Thanks so much for watching!
No floss drops? No subscription boxes? No book of days? They're gonna throw you out of the FlossTube club! Seriously, it is good to remember that the only essentials for this hobby are needles, thread, scissors and a pattern. Everything else is influencer drama.
I am eager to give a more minimalist approach a try this year. I remember when I started I had one project at a time and one of everything and it felt so special and joyful. I hope to recapture that a little. Thanks so much for watching!
Why did you stop using needle minders while stitching? I do not use them either. Why are scissors and needles addictive? I struggle not to buy them. My favorite is size 26 needle and I have plenty. The upcoming year is a very low buy for me; items must be at a thrift store, yard sale, etc. I need nothing and refuse continual adding to stash in storage totes. You can do this. Keep us informed how the journey goes.
I stopped using needle minders because I found they were interfering with my stitching flow. It didn’t feel natural to have them on my fabric - I kept sticking my needle other places. When I started using pin cushions, it really worked for me. I hope you have a great year!! Thanks so much for watching!
Love these ideas for changes, Lis. I’m currently test driving various needles. Truly disliked Pony, but I’ve been enjoying Bohin. Piecemakers are in my queue. I also enjoy stitching on Aida. Counting Lugana and linen is too stressful. Decades ago, I used a hoop, then I discovered scroll frames, and I loved both. I’ve been using a QSnap with my Long Dog since May, and I’m not loving it, but I don’t want to change halfway through because I feel it will change my tension. I do want to try a Nurge on my next small project. Good to know it keeps your fabric taut. Looking forward to viewing more of your videos!
Thank you so much!! I’m glad you like Bohin and will be curious to know if you like Piecemakers. I agree with you about fabric. I find it a strain to use evenweave and linen. Amazing that you’re doing a Long Dog! So exciting! Nurge hoops are very good! I hope you like them. Thank you so much for watching!!

This was nice to watch… I need to get my decorations out 😍
Thank you! It definitely made it more festive to decorate! I hope you’ll post pics on Instagram!

Hi Stitching Lis, Just as I am thinking " I wonder what Stitching Lis is up to ? " , here is a flosstube from you :) Lovely decorattions to look at and a great cozy Christmas basket :) Wishing you a beautiful cozy month ahead and fun and success with your Etsy shop !
Thank you so much! I hope you have a great month ahead too! Enjoy your stitching!
Your patterns are so cute. Congratulations on your new launch! 💖
Thank you so much! That means so much to me!
The decor looks great. That bag is gorgeous. I do not stitch holidays, but sometimes wish I did. You designs are wonderful.
Thank you so much! The bag is by Olivia B at Hillside Rookery. She does them occasionally in her Etsy shop. She is impeccable. I hope you have a great Stitchy month!
Hi! So glad to see a new flosstube from you! Congratulations on designing patterns, I just bought them! ❤
Thank you so much! That means so much to me! I hope you enjoy stitching them! Have a great stitchy month!
Some great plans for next year! The journal is great.
I’m looking forward to it! Thanks so much about the journal. It’s modeled on a reading journal style. Thanks so much for watching!
I love this video. I had no idea there were better needles out there. I am going to try some. I’m always tempted by SALs because of the mystery and community aspects but I haven’t joined in because I’m worried about exactly what you mentioned.
Thank you so much! I’m so glad that you found something helpful. I hope you find a needle you really like. There’s a new black needle on the market called Pony needles that I’m going to try. Lindy Stitches sells them. I’ve heard good things. As for SALs I think you have to do what’s right for you. I can understand why they can be motivating too. Thank you so much for watching!! Take care!
I hadn't seen the Lizzie Kate houses before. I immediately found it kitted up on eBay and ordered it! I'll have to start it with you soon 😊
That would be so fun! I’m glad you found them! Thanks so much for watching!
Great projects for 2025!
Thank you so much! Looking forward to (hopefully) getting to them! Thanks so much for watching!!
I love your project list. I need to really get mine in order. Do you have a video about purchasing fabrics for kits? I am so confused
Thank you so much!! I don’t have a video on choosing fabric. Do you mean for prepackaged kits? Those usually come with fabric. Or “kitting up” a chart? That is a bit more involved. I could make a video on that if it would be helpful. By the way, you were the winner of the giveaway of Cittlewick Green. If you email me your address I can get that mailed out. My email is lissygaby@gmail.com
Cat in the Flowers is adorable. Tiny Modernist is a favorite of mine. Your project list is beautiful; you can finish them. My plan is to start, and hopefully finish, stash and starts I have now. The upcoming year, 2025, will be a no buy for me. What I find in thrift stores is exempt because it is so inexpensive. I need to purchase patterns I am in love with before end of December. That said....I will pick up souvenir projects if I visit a needlework shop when traveling. The Promise is wonderful. Oh dear, Flosstube is going to be my nemesis during 2025.
I love Tiny Modernist too! I like your plan for 2025. I am going to do a low buy year too (I am not brave enough for a no buy). I know you can do it! I will be keeping a wish list to help with the urges to buy.
@@stitchinglis Yesterday, I purchased Mona Lisa from DMC. She is a good sized piece and will keep my busy for a few months. I also plan to start the Fox and Rabbit 2024 SAL; the last part is released December 1st so I will have them all. I will probable work it monochromatic. With these and all my current stash, I will not lack during 2025.
@@ExieB I Googled the Mona Lisa project and it is so pretty. You're also brave to do full coverage! I love Fox and Rabbit. I bet you'll enjoy the SAL. You have great things lined up for 2025!
@@ExieBThat was me responding as Serene Hobbyist. I love your charts you’re going to work on!!
I love the Ink Circles - the font on Merry Christmas is stunning when finished.....also like the Quaker - you can;t go wrong!
Thank you so much!! That Ink Circles is definitely pretty. It’s so hard to choose! Thank you for watching!!
🪡🧵🥰
The Liz Mathews kit is lovely; the packaging is creative and pretty. Yes, the fabric for the owl is gorgeous. It makes me want to purchase dye and experiment. The Christmas patterns are wonderful. I do not stitch holidays, but love to see the decorations.
I loved that fabric for the owl too! I’m not brave enough to try dyeing fabric. You are awesome to want to do it. Thank you so much for watching!!
Hi Stitching Lis, That 's a wonderful, filled with everything you need to do the project, put together stitch kit from Liz Mathew ! Should be fun ! Love that beaded edging :) Your fabric choice should work beutifully :) Looking forward to seeing your result :) Wow ! that owl ! Hoo ! You did a great job combining fabric and thread ! Christmas Quaker ... using the DMC diamant might work ?:) I'll go search for this pattern. Thanks for the Christmas TBS :)
The kit from Liz Mathews is really great! Thank you so much for your kind words about the owl piece. Thank you so much for watching!!
Definitely Peace in the Village. You really lit up when you talked about it. But what about “Believe “?
I like Believe too. It will be so hard to decide! Thank you so much for watching!
Wonderful Christmas choices! Love the Liz Matthew's Class Piece! I vote Ink Circles or Peace in the Village for your new Christmas start! Sparkle n Shine ✨ Julie
Thank you so much! I like both of your votes! Thank you for watching!!
🪡🧵🥰
The bears look really good on that jug!
Thank you so much! It was fun to make. Thank you for watching!!
Thanks for sharing all these great tips. I decided that cross stitching is for me, and I won't do/not do anything that doesn't bring me joy. I don't have "WIPS" because of that. I say, whatever brings you peace and joy, do that-even if it's different from what others are doing! And your videos bring me both! Thanks for being part of my stitching hobby.
I’m so glad you liked these tips. I totally agree with your approach to stitching. Your kind words mean so much to me. Thank you so much for taking the time to write and for watching!!
Such great finishes! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much!! I really appreciate that!!
Your finishes are so cute! Great finds at the thrift store.❤
Thank you so much! It was a great trip to the thrift store! Thanks so much for watching!!
You have cute finishes. I will look around thrift stores and pick up items. Thank you for the inspiration.
Thank you so much! I hope you have fun if you go thrifting! Also, I mailed the fabric you won yesterday. I’m so sorry for the delay. I had some complications. But it is on its way now! Thanks so much for watching!
@@stitchinglis, the fabric arrived. Thank you. It is beautiful.
@@ExieBI’m so glad it got there! Thanks so much for letting me know. Happy you like it. Enjoy stitching on it!
Hi Stitching Lis, Adds in old magazines are fun to read :) Now a days they're very short, always directing one to their website . You did a great job cutting and decorating with cross stitch ! This has to inspire more to get the scissors out and be creative :) That white dish , minute 11.48, looks like it would make a great scissor holder if it was placed on a pedestal(another recycled object) . I was searching " white glass scissor holder" a while ago. Haven't found one yet at our second hand store :) Yes, that black ribbon has to go . :) Give it your own touch of joy to mactch that cross stitch :) I have to ask, maybe I missed it in a eralier video, it's new to me...what is FFO's ? F might mean finished ? Thanks for sharing your shopping trip ! You had a succsesful day out !
FFO means Fully Finished Object. I should have said that. I’m sorry. The magazines were really fun to look at. What a good idea to use the dish as a scissor holder! I hope you find one! Thank you so much for watching!
@@stitchinglis Fully Finished Object ! Love that ! No problem :)
@@stitchinglis FFO should be made in a a cross stich project !
Ooh those magazines look so intriguing! Your projects are so cute. I really love the luminous fiber arts ones.
Thank you so much! I like the Luminous Fiber Arts charts for the holidays. The magazines were really fun to look at. Some of the charts were hand drawn. Thanks so much for watching!
I had a subscription to Cross Stitch and Classic Cross Stitch in the 80s. Most of those patterns will be pretty dated, but fun to look at. That candy jar will be fun, but why not stitch a topper for that instead of something for the side? Fun video!
Those magazines were really fun to look at! What a good idea to stitch a topper for the candy jar! Thanks so much for that idea and thank you so much for watching!
This was interesting. Thank you and happy stitching 🪡🧵🥰
I’m so glad you found it interesting! Thank you so much for watching!!
Melissa, thank you for sharing your review and experience flipping through these books. There are some great pieces in each book you showed today!
It was fun to flip through the books! Thank you so much for watching!!
Hello. I enjoyed this fun video. My local library has some cross stitch books. I currently have borrowed the Max Pigeon book, Storyland cross stitch by Sophie Simpson and Jayne Netley Mahew's Animal collection. Storyland is amazing and the author/designer describes patterns in a wonderfully wry manner. Theses books also carry the patterns across the pages. I will copy them, cut and tape the pages together.
That’s a great idea about taping the pages. I have to look for Storyland. Thanks so much for the recommendation! And thank you so much for watching!!
I’m watching this and I’m…actually stitching! Haha. Some great tips for sure.
Yay for stitching! Were you working on something spooky? Thanks so much for watching!!
I love stitching in a small hoop. I'd rather move the hoop around than be uncomfortable while stitching.
I agree with you! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a comment and for watching!
