Thank you for the demo! I really appreciate your effort. If possible, could you lower the background music in future videos? I have a sensitivity to certain sounds, and a lower volume would make it easier for me to follow along. Thanks again!
Great quick demo, why would macros be missing from my menu?
I am not certain what you refer to by your question so I will try to answer both variations that I can think of. 1. You cannot find any macros in the Macros menu; Tabular Editor is not currently shipped with built-in Macros, so you need to add them yourself. You can e.g. find examples on our docs site: docs.tabulareditor.com/common/CSharpScripts/csharp-script-library.html 2. You cannot locate the Macro Menu: Go the the View Menu and open the Macros menu or reset to the default layout with Window -> Default Layout Hope this helps
Can we have intellisense while writing DAX in TE 2?
Hi The DAX parser in Tabular Editor 3 is the outcome of years of work and will as such not become available in TE2 through us. However, Tabular Editor 2 is an open source tool that welcomes contributions and anyone is welcome to add to it including building Intellisense.
Can you share the macros script that are used in this video.
Hi The macros used in this videoshould all be available in our script library which you can find here: docs.tabulareditor.com/common/CSharpScripts/csharp-script-library.html?tabs=TE2Preferences Except the Doom macro, which is Kurt's own.
Does it work only with Tabular Editor 3?
The scripts should work in Tabular Editor 2 as well
Great material, super grateful for making TE understandable 😊
I have made changes in semantic model in tabular editor and saved that. But after doing that i am not able to download the report and it is giving me error of XMLA endpoint.can you please tell me how to resolve this?
Hi Changing a semantic model through the XMLA endpoint with e.g. Tabular Editor blocks the download of the PBIX file. There is a workaround available which you can find here: docs.tabulareditor.com/te3/powerbi-xmla-pbix-workaround.html Are you getting a seperate error when connecting through the XMLA endpoint? If so, could you provide a few more details on what you are doing and what error you see?
Since you are open to our suggestions, I would like to understand why you do not provide the demonstration files used in your videos. These files are essential for us to practice and better grasp the course material. Thank you in advance for your response.
Hi The underlying data is available through our Learn platform (learn.tabulareditor.com) - In the business cases of each course the SQL endpoint is available to be used to practice with. The business cases also include instructions and tasks on how to built a semantic model using that data.
Nice! Thanks for the contribution!
1 active model, 4 runs .. but can you remove a model? or do you need to wait 30 days before you can remove a model?
We are still working on the details, but we will make sure to specify this once the integration is ready later this month.
Looks awesome, when will the Free with Enterprise Subscription be available?
We should have it ready later this month!
Hi. Does the free version update SSAS models as fast? I have a very large SSAS model which takes about 20 seconds to load/apply new changes using TE 2. It is unclear if it would be faster using TE3 as you still have to apply.
Hi With applying new changes to you mean deploying/saving changes to the loaded model? There should not be any difference in that between Tabular Editor 2 and 3, as saving a model performs a deploy command to the server. But it sounds unusual that it should take this amount of time. How big is this model?
This is so cool I love it! Please consider making a variant of the status pill template (add-svg-status-pill.csx) that is multi-value, e.g. for showing colored "tags" from a related table. I am going to try to modify the single value one and see what happens but it would be so convenient to have a template! :)
Kurt is working on more scripts, but not sure if this is planned. How did it go with trying to modify yourself? You might want to check out Kurt's blog in SQLBI to dive deeper into these types of visuals: www.sqlbi.com/articles/creating-custom-visuals-in-power-bi-with-dax/
this is rad, thanks y'all <3
Exciting news! Will the DO integration incorporate full support for the obfuscation command-line tool on VPAX file submission?
Hi I am uncertain which command line tool you mean. DAX Optimizer has its own CLI: www.nuget.org/packages/Dax.Optimizer.CLI and Tabular Editor 2 has a CLI. The later does not support any DAX Optimizer commands and for the former the question is better suited to ask directly to the team: github.com/tabulartools/dax-optimizer/issues
Thanks Kurt!
I would suggest you guys, starting to incorporate it into the tabular editor as a feature or add-in/on, so when a new update comes, it will be there already in the software.
Hi It is highly unlikely that this will become a standalone feature as it is outside the core functionality of Tabular Editor. However, I see a point in being able to load external libraries of scripts so they are kept up to date. The main issue with this is that it is not possible to know what changes are made to a loaded C# script, which could be a security risk for the users.
This is great It will be nice to have more templates in the C# script.
More on the way. Stay tuned.
It would be great to be able to add all scrips in bulk. I don't think that's possible at the moment, is it? Thanks for sharing your valuable work, love your content!
Hi I can see the idea, but given that the scripts work by selecting specific measures that you wish to use, it is not immediately clear that adding in bulk would be a very good user experience, as you would end up with an endless number of popups to select the measures specific to each visualization.
Thanks mate
Kurt is the man! Danke Kurt. SQLBI coop is off, I wonder? Fine with me..
Nah I do many things, not just with SQLBI :)
I just came to see Kurt play Doom 😂 Thank you so much for this video, very helpful (besides the missing Doom hints)!
@@HansUlrikHarnisch I guess we know what the next video should be… Or maybe we’ll do a livestream 😂
This is great. The company I work for has Premium Per Capacity. I just requested some enterprise licenses for the team. I hope they get them soon. I am very excited to use Tabular Editor 3. I have been working with Tabular Editor 2 so far.
@@VictorHugo-bd3bf love it, make sure to reach out at sales@tabulareditor.commif we can assist you in e.g. the procurement process
As always top notch content! Sharing with our team.
Thank you, happy to hear you like it.
Ohhhh this is version 3 - took me a while to figure out why I couldn't find any of these menu options, probably because I am using 2. FYI for anyone else similarly confused :)
Yes, this is for Tabular Editor 3, sorry if that was not clear.
@@TabularEditor It probably was, but I didn't stop to think about what version I was using at all when I went to try it out 😅
For sure this video will make me upgrade
Yooo the long form outro is where it’s at!
Thanks ! Q: Where can I get the list of all the DAX editor shortcuts for TE3 ?
You can see an overview here: docs.tabulareditor.com/te3/features/shortcuts.html, and you can also set your own custom shortcuts through Tools -> Preferences -> Keyboard
Thanks mate
Amazing Video Kurt Buhler
@@sivac5761 Kurt is the man
Can I do that in TE2?
Yes, you can use TE2 to create model wireframes. Setting up tables, columns, etc. would be much the same, but Tabular Editor 3 specific features such as diagrams and Table Groups would, of course, not be available.
Great stuff, thank you
Glad you liked it!
Looks quite really useful, thank you! Combining this with mock data would be quite powerful at the start of a project when trying to understand the use cases and gathering requirements.
Yes that would be the next step and should be doable by switching out the partitions with mock data in M or elsewhere
great update
hey morten..thanks for all the wonderful update…request you to please have a very soft background music or not at all..at times the music gets too loud that it gets difficult to focus on what you are saying…thanks once again for making my fav external tool more better and potent
Thanks for the feedback, and it was really also the intention to have an very low volume background music, there seems to have been an issue in the post processing rendering. Sorry about that. ☹️
Excellent, thank you very much
If it's possible to change the Matrix into a Table and remove the totals, the Performance Analyser query is a lot simpler too. Brilliant video and clearly explained. Love the Peek definition :)
Indeed, that is a good way to have the first query be a lot simpler - great tip :)
Thanks a lot for the video. May I suggest something related to audio editing. May you make the audio editing a bit more soft because the editing is so hard, that the beginning and ending of your voice are unclear enough? Sorry if that bothers you! Thanks once again.
Hi Mohamed I really appreciate the feedback! Thank you! I will look into my mic settings to ensure that the sound is more clear going forward :)
Still looking for some deployment options, something like ALM Toolkit look like :D
We are considering how to give more deployment options, but we do not have a timeline to give at the moment.
